so where were we......oh right, retro characters

Oh, and Palutena. Hands down, my most requested character for Smash. Love her.

Now I'm convinced it's just me. But, then again is he really that exciting of a move set to warrant unlock able status? No, so I'd personally want him as a starter.

I used to have Takamaru as the starter because he's the beloved retro rep.
This is of course assuming that characters are starters because of their moveset, which is not the case.

Was Marth's moveset really exciting to warrant unlockable status?
Being unlockable doesn't necessarily depend on how exciting the moveset is.

Sometimes I wonder if TheDivineDeity is really SaturnGamer64's alt.... created solely for the purpose of making Noah look good in comparison. :troll:

Sheriff gives more of an unlockable vibe should he be in. That is, if you're going off the "first Nintendo character" reasoning (Which I actually found out is not true. Nintendo's first game (or at least what they consider their first), EVR Racing, features horse jockeys as characters in the horse race version.).
I think he was the first Nintendo character to be given a name. (Jack)

I'd be willing to talk about retros. :)
Palutena would be nice too, if I had played KIU.

Who should we start with?
Well, another lesser-known retro character I'd like to see in Smash is Mike Jones. ;)

Yeah, in all honesty, Takamaru should be the starter on your roster, Noah, with Sheriff as the unlockable one. It just makes sense to me that way.

Uh okay.

I think Palutena is unique enough of a character to warrant a spot on the roster. I've always had doubts that her tide of popularity may have come too late, since Uprising just came out when development started. Though if she gets in, Medusa could follow behind as a semi-clone late in development.

The only character that's higher than Palutena for me in terms of probability is Little Mac, and he's someone I deem to be everything but confirmed.

I really hope I'm right, because I'm planning to main her. Love her game, love her character, love her hair ... just, I want her in the game.

There are clearly characters with move sets you start off with that should be unlock able, like Ike, Meta Knight, and Bowser. But, those are good for advertising. (Besides Bowser isn't as good as Luigi.)

But why is Wii Fit Trainer not a start-
Oh boy, I refuse to get into an argument over how Wii Fit Trainer is obviously a starter character. So I'll just let you find that out when we see the completed starter CSS...

I wish I knew a bit more about Palutena, but I can say this. I used to prefer Medusa. Now, however, Palutena has grown on me quite a bit.
Using her divine powers, and more elements from Kid Icarus is always welcome. :D

Finally!

I've been thinking of TWO ways Mike could be incorporated.

The HARD and detailed way.
And the EASY and low-prio way.

The HARD way would be essentially filling his movesets with all sorts of items from his games.
http://diegichigo.deviantart.com/art/Onegai-Sakurai-San-380007440

This would make him a really varied fighter.

His moveset gimmick would be that he fights with sports artifacts, ancient weapons, and alien weapons.

The EASY way would be... just give him a Yoyo attack for most of his normal and aerial moves.
(Not the same as Ness. Mike uses a Yoyo like a "baseball boomerang". He pitches it, and it returns to his hand. Ness is about swinging it around).
Then make his Smash Attacks be the Main weapons from Zoda's Revenge (Axe, Katana, and Dagger).
And his specials would be different projectiles (since he IS a projectile master... AKA ace pitcher)

Then there's his UNIQUE gimmick. What does he DO that other characters don't?

Well, I think it would truly fit him that a HEALTH-POWER system oughta do the trick.
The healthier he is, the longer his projectiles could reach.
The more damaged he is, the more useless his projectiles would become.

(I had it defined a lot more than this... but this is a very vague summary that's easier to understand without going deep into a game that 99% people here haven't played)

I don't see how early reveal PROVES she is a starter, It was AFTER the Game reveal and didn't even appear in the Nintendo Direct. Sakurai probably just wanted to show her off most.

what
You can't tell me you honestly believe that a non-third party character revealed with the game is going to be act as the special surprise hidden character if everybody already knows that the character is in the game.
That defeats the purpose of having an unlockable surprise character.

No unlockable character has been shown off early other than Snake and Sonic, but they are unlockable on the reasoning that they are non-Nintendo characters, not hidden characters.
So unless this reasoning doesn't apply to Smash 4, the only character revealed so far we can infer is unlockable is Mega Man.

I think Palutena is a pretty likely character. I could list a bunch of reasons why but I'm sure most everyone knows them by now.

I'm just saying, she was revealed hours after the trailers. And she seems like kind of a special character pick.

I'd say Little Mac has a 90% chance to get in.

They wouldn't add a boxing ring stage without him as a character, and I know recency doesn't have much to do with it, but it does when a recent game boosts the popularity of the series and a character. (at least I think so)

What's with everyone doubting the Mii??? What's wrong with it? It's still a Nintendo character regardless of what it looks like.

Other than Eevee being there at all, I'd say it's pretty good as a starter roster.

While Eevee has some promotion going on, we would very likely get Meowth instead, if only for the fact that Meowth is a worldwide recognized Pokémon due to being in the anime almost as much as Pikachu, something no other Pokémon can claim.

I'm not doubting it has a chance of making it, it's just that I feel the ability to put yourself or whoever into Nintendo's all-star fighter a bit unsavory.
That's just my personal bias however, so don't let it get in the way of your roster.

I disagree, Meowth doesn't really have any promotion outside the Anime and if you can work him in you could just as easily work in Eevee without the evolution.

Eevee is promoted in Anime & Game and is considered one of the most popular. As far as I know I think she kind of surpasses the popularity of Meowth & JigglyPuff. Not saying JigglyPuff would be removed or not.

I kind of have her as a "just in case JigglyPuff is removed" character. After all she is more deserving and relevant. I should make clear on my rosters I don't GREATLY predict the removal of Lucario or JigglyPuff.

Its because mii's are lame, they have earned their spot but that doesnt meant they still arent lame, its up to sakurai to make them cool. They will probably be in though due to that rumor...
So using stuff from Wii Party, Wii Sports, and StreetPass Quest would be lame?

But, "Mii" is a nintendo character and a big part of nintendo's history. It'd still be represented as and called Mii.

Mii's in general are pretty lame and the games that they are the main star of.

Not according to most people. This sounds like more of a preference than a prediction.
Uh alot of people think that.... If your talking about the grandmas that bought wii's for wii fit or the wii sports gimmick then shelved them so they could gather dust then yes they are popular with those people... (how cute we can make our whole family derp).

Most gamers that actually play great games either couldnt care less about mii's or think they are lame, especially the games they are the main star those games are all pretty bad cept for wii sports and that was free.

Wii Party was the **** actually.

I can't say much about many of the Wii games but Wii Party was hella fun!

@Noah: With the exception of Evee, your roster is much better. I really like it actually and think its pretty spot on. While Evee is an interesting choice (as I stated earlier), I don't find it incredibly likely.

@-Rhythm-: I kind of sprung up recently. Not sure why though.

Mii would be pretty interesting in Smash... they could do stuff like...

- swinging golf clubs (Wii Sports)
- swinging tennis rackets (Wii Sports)
- swinging baseball bats (Wii Sports)
- bowling... and no, I don't mean dropping bowling balls like Villager... I meant actual bowling (Wii Sports)
- boxing... though Villager and most likely Little Mac already cover this... disregard this one (Wii Sports)
- playing musical instruments (Wii Music)
- riding cows (Wii Play)
- posing inside bubbles and popping them (Wii Play)
- gliding with the hang glider (Pilotwings Resort)
- flying with the rocket belt (Pilotwings Resort)
- sword fighting (StreetPass Mii Plaza)
- magic attacks based on shirt color (StreetPass Mii Plaza)
- using a bow to shoot arrows (Wii Sports Resort)
- throwing a Frisbee and having a dog chase after it (Wii Sports Resort)
- throwing a basketball (Wii Sports Resort)
- balancing a towering ice cream cone (Wii Play Motion)

Im not saying they cant work, I just think they suck.

People are hopping onto a fad which won't remain popular for very long.
Genesect and Eevee are fads like Zoroak, Chrom will be one too if he doesnt get in this time.

Yeah he/her has great moveset potential, if Mii got in though it would probably be due to the personalization factor more than anything else.
I'm sure Sakurai would love to give fans the ability to make themselves a potential smasher.

I admit I've started taking Eevee into consideration, too. (**** you, Hotfeet)

It's also due to Vaporeon being a unlockable character in Super Smash Land (the game's WTF character, perhaps?) and having a cool recovery move involving throwing out puddles of water and then warping into them.
