The contest NEVER STARTED... therefor GoldenYu did not 'win' by default because, according to the rules, in order for the scoring system of votes to count, it must be during the competition and during the actual debate itself. There was NO debate and, hence, GoldenYu lost by ADMITTING FORFEIT..... He lost by his own admission. :rolleyes:

I would imagine Wii Fit Trainer being a starter before Sheriff.
It also has a lot of Newcomers already unlocked for my personal liking. I would have imagined having Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and then maybe one or two more newcomers, but not that many.

No seriously! Why did 3 people look at a roster with 20 Question mark boxes and several characters missing and say "Hmmm, where's Luigi and Ness?"

Not

  • Hey where's Mewtwo?
  • Why are there only 30 characters?
  • Where did everybody else go?
  • Why do you have a question mark as a character 20 times?
  • Is this perhaps a starter roster?
  • Where's Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, R.O.B., Sonic, Falco and every other character that appeared on Brawls roster as well as your previous ones?
What was the assumption by these 3 people? I'm not mad. I'm just really perplexed!

Brawl had 8, this one has 9. And I see Wii Fit Trainer as more of a R.O.B./Mr Game & Watch kinda thing.

Well, the rest are honestly debatable for a comeback. Those are the expected cast, the rest is really just an if-or probably character.

Nobody knows who the Sheriff is, everybody knows what Wii Fit is. It makes little to no sense but alright, your decision I guess.

Well, again I'd have to point you to the repeated characters like Ness and the others. They're really the cast that are expected to be in every smash game. Mewtwo doesn't have the same expectations, as neither does Roy or Pichu. It's really just that simple. If the expected characters aren't there, it's not going to be like we don't notice anything else, it's that those are always the ones we expect to see first.

Well, those characters we posted, just seem to be pretty much a guaranteed stay. We were just wondering why they were missing from the roster, BEFORE YOU EXPLAINED IT WAS STARTERS ONLY NOW WE KNOW. Sorry about that font change and bolding....

Are you saying you expect Ness to be available from the start and NOT an unlockable. MY POST WAS A STARTER ROSTER, YA KNOW FOR CHARACTERS YOU DON'T HAVE TO UNLOCK, THAT YOU START OUT WITH?????

I thought the question marks and lack of Mega Man, Luigi, and others kind of explained it by itself. I even mentioned it was a starter roster in the post.

This is a joke right? You're all playing a trick on me....

I think most people who know about the trophies in SSBM know about Sheriff at least. I could see him becoming the new R.O.B. A piece of Nintendo history that not many people these days are aware of.

Ya know DivineDeity, you can put people on your ignore list if they really annoy you. I think if you chose to ignore some people, this thread would stay more on topic, but that's just my opinion.

Anyways, Sylveon discussion from last page. I don't think we know enough of what it can do to make an accurate guess of its talents (beyond ribbons), though it certainly fits the bill as a possible candidate for a Smash Bros. slot thanks to it being in a short film. I can see it being a starter though. I think it makes more sense than Eevee, not to mention Eevee would be a technological nightmare if you wanted to get into evolving it.

Also, we're one week away from August 12th, a month since Olimar has been revealed. I think our theory of one character per month will be put to the test shortly.

It really is though. The Ice Climbers were advertised prior to Melee's release date, Wii Fit Trainer has been advertised prior to the game's release date.
I highly doubt that Sakurai will see reason to promote a character that nobody really cares about to make you want to buy the game. I'm not saying Sheriff isn't possible, but I'm saying that thinking he'll be on the starter roster over Wii Fit Trainer is incredibly unlikely (that and Sheriff is more comparable to Mr. Game & Watch than Wii Fit Trainer is to him).

Yeah, he accidentally fell on his mouse which activated Fire Fox and google images, he tried to get up, but his hand stepped on all the letters that typed in that specific image, and then when he did get up, he slipped on a nearby oil spill and landed face first on a secret keyboard code that ACCIDENTALLY posts that picture on SmashBoards.
