I gotta jump in and defend the robo-bug:
Pros
+Evil, under the command of Team Plasma
Evil? While yes, Genesect was modified by Team Plasma, they never really used it for anything. The only antagonistic role a Genesect has ever had was in the movie.
+Techno Blast allows for varied attacks
Only thing I see other than the movie that warrants any real reason.
+If 5th gen gets a rep, I think he's the most probable (Zoroark failed to replace Lucario)
Because of the movie.
+I hate to have to say this, but yes, Movie does help
+He's being promoted heavily in Japan
He's being promoted heavily in Japan because of the movie.
Cons
-Smash tendency to skip Gens
They didn't really skip Gen 3 though. We had tons of Gen 3 Pokeball Pokemon and Rayquaza as a boss. It's just very likely that the same could happen to Gen 5.
-Flavor of the month (though I REALLY like this flavor)
Which is because of the movie, right?
-Lucario remains popular and Mewtwo is back on the scene
Which puts the nail in the coffin.
I'm just saying that there is no real reason for Sakurai to add in Genesect for anything other than the movie, which Mewtwo is already in. (And maybe if he did decide that Generation 5 needs more love, but I think Kyurem being the boss for Pokemon this time around would easily suffice that. Or at least Sakurai thought that last time).
You can try to say that the movie isn't the only reason, but it honestly really is...
So...guys.
We just got a Pilotwings stage.
Pilotwings character?
I'm suggesting Miis are suddenly more probable, they were featured in the last Pilotwings game. But a Pilotwings specific character? Doubt it, I think it could probably be the Wii U equivalent of the 3DS's Nintendogs stage.
Still no Wuhu Island though, which is surprising me.
