I've not visited this thread in a week, and wow, this thread has moved a lot.
I'm seeing a lot of reporting of DivineDeity's posts from this thread. I don't want to hand out an infraction on the very day I become a mod, so Mr. DivineDeity, do see this post as a warning.
Congrats on being a mod, Fal!

I will say this every game of Smash Bros has two things in common in their roster, it has one classic character and one retro WTF character:

Smash Bros 64
Classic: Captain Falcon
Classic WTF: Ness

.n_n.

Ness was most DEFINITELY a WTF addition for me.

Hey guys. This is my list of just characters that need to be removed or added to the next Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and 3DS. Feel free to leave a comment on any edits to the list that you would make!
The Brawl roster is good. I like it the way it is. However some changes should be made. For example, Lucario, Snake, and Toon Link all have to go. Lucario should be replaced by either Zoroark, the Mewtwo type thing that Nintendo released. (some claim to be Mewthree) or a different sixth generation pokemon. Snake can just get out. He does not belong in Smash. But if Konami were to be so nice and let Sakurai use Simon Belmont, that'd be great. Finally Toon Link also just needs to go. He's a link clone and he's had his fun. The characters that have been announced so far are good, besides Wii Fit Trainer (I can do without her), but, Megaman, and Villager are very good additions. I also think that Nintendo will decide to remove Ike and substitute him for Chrom, being that he was the main protagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening. I also think that with the release of Kid Icarus Uprising, Palutena and Magnus will both be playable for the new Smash Bros. Also, the fact that Kid Icarus was created by Sakurai, it furthers the idea that Palutena and Magnus will both be in Smash, if not both than one. As for the Mario franchise, it does have a lot of characters, but, one character that absolutely NEEDS to be in Smash Bros. is Bowser Jr. He has such a broad variety of moves that he can use. He can use his paintbrush from Sunshine, and he can use Megaleg as his Final Smash. He is a very viable character to the Smash Bros Universe. While on the topic of Mario Games, one character that I wouldn't mind seeing is Waluigi. I'm not going to really get into him but he can use his sports equipment I guess. In my opinion, Metroid is one of the best franchises Nintendo has to offer. But, it blows my mind that there is only one representative, Samus. Ridley is the only other option, besides Dark Samus, which I feel would be a clone of Samus, or one of the Hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters. Now, for those of you saying Ridley is to big, answer this. If Ridley is too big, what about Bowser and Olimar. They sized down Bowser incredibly from the N64 days, and even from today in Super Mario 3D Land. Olimar was incredibly sized up as well, him being only 1.9 CM. Now he is much taller than 1.9 CM. So there is no argument for Ridley to my knowledge. From the DK Series, I feel King K. Rool should be the only entry from Donkey Kong. Maybe Dixie Kong but I think she'd just be a clone of Diddy Kong just faster. On to Yoshi. Yoshi was one of the original characters yet on the Offical website for Super Smash Bros. he was not announced. This could mean one of two things. One is NOT removal because its safe to say that he is staying. One is he could be getting a complete redesign, like Olimar. Or he could be getting baby mario on his back like in Super Mario World 2.I think it'd be interesting to see where Nintendo could go with that. As for F-Zero, I haven't played much of it but Samurai Goroh seems like the best option. He was an assist trophy in brawl so it only takes a little more for a full fledged character. The pokemon franchise is good where it stands, except for the Lucario thing I mentioned earlier. However they should replace pokemon trainer with one from either the third, fifth or sixth generation. I for one would like the third, being it is the one I grew up with. The Zelda Franchise should add Ghirahim to the next Smash Bros, mainly because of how well Skyward Sword did. The Star Fox franchise is also good except they should add Krystal because she would add a female fighter, and a new playstyle, because she has a staff. The Sonic series should only add Knuckles. Not Tails, Shadow, or whatever other sonic character. Just Knuckles. The Kirby, Pikmin, and Mother franchises are good where they stand now. There should be some additions of franchises. Little Mac should deffinetly make it in. In a perfect world, Rare and Square would both exist and we can get Banjo & Kazooie as a fighter, and Geno and Mallow as a fighter. But with all the licensing issues nowadays it just won't happen.

For me too, I was like who the hell is he, from what game he comes (really put me in the ropes) obviously with the time I learn from the character, respect it and enjoy his inclusion in to the Smash Bros series (really want to play the Mother series) and only because he appear in the game, the same can say for Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. (is fun that Nintendo with this game make history lessons to the people that don´t know much about cult classics and retro stuff of them).

Glad to see you changed the text color. But may I suggest separating your posts in to paragraphs in the future? Walls of text are kind of hard on the eyes.

That being said, I do disagree on certain aspects of it. First, though, I'll say what I agree with. For one, I agree with the veterans you kept, of course. Additionally, I find K. Rool, Chrom, Ridley, Little Mac, Palutena and Samurai Goroh to be really good additions, in my opinion.

Now, one of the problems I have with it, however, is removals of Ike, Snake, Lucario and the current Pokemon Trainer. Mainly, your reasoning against Snake is rather poor. If Snake didn't belong in Smash, he wouldn't have been in Brawl. I can't find the article at the moment, but at one point in Brawl's development, Sakurai mentioned that some Nintendo higher-ups were against Snake's inclusion at first, but Sakurai felt that he found a way for him to fit in. I'd definitely agree in that he fit in.

Additionally, I don't really believe that Lucario and Ike should be booted just because a new character came along. In Lucario's case, it actually is still being marketed by Nintendo and Game Freak as a popular Pokemon. It's popularity is mainly what got it into Brawl. It really says something when Pokemon Smash (a Japanese Pokemon News show) replaced its Lucario mascot with a Zoroark one, only for it to be replaced with Lucario again. That sort of shows the sort of long-standing popularity that Lucario has.

With Ike, I think that he, Marth, and Chrom could definitely coexist. Ike is actually pretty important to Fire Emblem as a whole. He is the only other protagonist, besides Marth, who has been the star of more than one Fire Emblem game. Not to mention, he has actual importance to the series, as noted when he got a descendant in Awakening over other Lords in the series, similar to how Chrom is the descendant of Marth. That being said, I think the three can coexist easily.

With the Pokemon Trainer, I think that the original one should be kept. This is mainly because the original Kanto starters are among the most popular Pokemon in the world. Replacing them with other starters would just feel...wrong, in a way. Especially Charizard, since polls have shown it to be the world's most popular Pokemon, even beating out Mewtwo, who was number two. I think Pikachu was like, number twenty or so.

As for Toon Link, while I disagree with his removal, I can see why you'd want to remove him. However, Sakurai has said that having a Child version of Link is important to him, as he considers it the "True Link," so I don't think Toon Link is likely to be removed.

One thing that I noticed about your roster is that you said Sakurai created Kid Icarus. That is actually incorrect; Gunpei Yoko created Kid Icarus back in 1986. Sakurai only made Uprising. :p That being said, I think one new KI character would be more likely. Out of the two on your roster, I suggest keeping Palutena and cutting Magnus.

Just my opinions. Once again, welcome to the boards!

I think the main point to get out of this stage is that the team is taking a serious look at retro. This makes me think they've probably gone over characters such as Mach Rider and Takamaru on their search for retro ideas, and THAT sounds exciting.

Yep, haha. Wait, would Geno and Mallow be on a tag team?

I don't think there will more than one character for each third-party franchise. I know Sonic characters are popular, but still.

It's....decent, I guess.

Edit: someone beat me to it.

Oh yeah, I forgot something.

I really don't see Knuckles as being very likely. It's hard enough to get the rights of one third party character in a series, and Sakurai doesn't want to add them "willy-nilly." Therefore, I think any additional Sonic character is a long shot at this point.

Well, why not? The Pilotwings character might be either Pilotwings Instructor (SNES), Lark (N64), or Mii (3DS).
I'd really like Lark/Nester if they played up his Nintendo Power alter ego a bit (virtual boy bowling and what not) Would be a welcomed WTF character imo.

Tho much more likely this stage has no character or "sort of" reps Mii's as a character stage (I can definitely see Mii's up B being from pilotwings resort if Mii's have standard moveset).

Gooooood afternoon all, how's everyone doing today? Well, I completed Super Metroid, and I must say...Mother Brain was nowhere near as tough a fight as Ridley was, which was kind of disappointing to be honest. Anyways, what's the subject of the hour?

Haha that works to, OR have some default faces lark/nester, mike jones, maybe sheriff as well and this could be a changing retro stage where you fly to different Retro game maps starting at pilotwings...

Ok so the Mii's default faces thing seems unlikely BUT I like my "you fly on the pilotwings plane to different retro game maps while fighting on it" idea a lot!!

A lot of us do!
Roy is only popular because he was one of the first FE characters in Melee, and one of the first FE characters Westerners were exposed to.

Not to diss him or anything, but if not for that, he would be as likely as Leif or Sigurd. But yes, I'd like Roy to come back. Once a smash brother, always a smash brother.

How about something different....

Let's assume that Ridley makes it in as a character. What Metroid character do you think would be next in line?

Well, I don't think we'd get one after Ridley in this game at least. But down the line, I'd say either Dark Samus or Anthony Higgs, depending on whether they continue to be important to the series.

Dark Samus, I believe she's the last Metroid character needed, there are alot of unique movesets out there for her and she was in 3 Metroid games.
2 Games...

Unless you're counting Metroid Prime.

Considering that the Metroid series' recurring characters are far and few between, the only character that really warrants any importance after Ridley would be Dark Samus. But don't get me wrong, although Dark Samus is the next important after Ridley, their difference in importance is incredibly high.

A picture of Pilotwings has been revealed, which looks like a stage.

And the usual derp.
I saw that, it looks like an interesting stage idea. Also, congrats on becoming a Moderator.

I'm also hesitant that we'd get another character since Metroid doesn't really pride itself on its characters not named Samus, Ridley or the Metroids but if I were to say one: Dark Samus. She has made two (three if you count the MP form) appearances, is very important to her subseries and is a semi-popular choice. After her, there's really no one else that stands out.

oh, maybe the only other recurring character in most games, the space pirate. His importance is very minor though, just being the intermediate enemy of the game.
