He doesn't seem very smart. He seems pretty close minded, not considering that Sakurai may take a course of action that isn't exactly what everybody wants or thinks should happen.

  1. What's wrong with Mewtwo being DLC? He's a returning character who was removed. Why do you think you're so sure he'll be available from the start, what matters is that he's playable. What about being DLC has no point to it? Wouldn't it make sense to have an already removed character be DLC rather than remove Lucario just so that he can be DLC?
DLC shouldn't be planned from the start. That's the whole problem. Unless you want Nintendo to be as hated as Capcom when it comes to this stuff...DLC should just be for stuff that wasn't finished. Mewtwo, especially, being the most requested character worldwide, should not be DLC.
  1. People need to stop acting like they are so sure every Pokemon is going to return, that's just so naive. I'm trying to add a Gen 6 rep, it's most likely Newtwo will just be a Final Smash like Super Sonic. We have 4 Gen 1 reps. First you're all talking about removing Pokemon Trainer entirely which is stupid, and when someone just makes it a Gen 6 Trainer, there's a problem. I realize the populariyt of Squirtle, IvySaur, and Charizard, but again not every Pokemon is going to return. What do you suggest?
How do you not get this? The few people (who are a minority) who want Pokemon Trainer cut want him cut because he takes up as much dev time as three characters. By replacing him with another trainer, you are not only removing the characters, but also taking up the development time (the whole reason they wanted him cut to begin with). Just put the original Pokemon Trainer there. You don't need to rep every generation. That's just foolish. And who's to say for sure they all won't return? That's the only naivety here...

  1. Also you don't know Third-Parties are going to return, nothing even implies that. This roster will have cuts, it makes sense to prioritize Nintendo Fighters in a Nintendo Fighting game. Third-Parties have only appeared once, so there's nothing saying they aren't gonna be a one time thing.
There's also nothing implying that Sonic and Snake won't return. Logic is a two-way street. Once again, cuts are not absolutely confirmed. Second of all, you say that Nintendo characters should be prioritized, and yet you add Bomberman, when Snake is infinitely more likely? It makes no logical sense.

  1. Already explained why there is nothing wrong with Dry Bowser.
i·de·a

/īˈdēə/
Noun
  1. A thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action: "the idea of linking pay to performance".
  2. A concept or mental impression.
Why is Metal Mario NOT considered an idea?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but your idea for Dry Bowser was as a transformation at the end of a Final Smash with different moves, as well as claiming that it doesn't take up development time. He only works as an Alternate Costume. The idea previously described has a lot of factors wrong with it to work. And once again, Metal Mario is completely redundant with Mario being in the game, as well as the Metal Box item.

Newsflash: It's nice that you know what an idea is, but you seem to be forgetting that some ideas can be bad ideas.

I swear, with some people it's just logic and reasoning.

I think it's a little less baffling now than it was during Brawl development. I think he knows we really want him, Japan wants him to some extent as well, and I'm sure he knows about his importance to both Nintendo as one of the biggest villains they have and the Metroid franchise as a whole. I don't doubt Ridley's inclusion this time, I'm sure it will happen, especially since there's no other franchise that needs a newcomer before Metroid.
Kid Icarus and F-Zero would like to have a word with you.

Two trainers is an interesting idea, and I like the rest of the roster, but Mach Rider over Isaac? And most importantly, WHERE IS LUCAS :c
EDIT: Oh and R.O.B
Mach Rider over Takumaru actually. I don't think Isaac is getting in tbh. Lucas has a good chance of being cut seeing as Ness is bascially becoming the international mascot with him being the only one witha international release and getting a remake on the VC. Lucas is just not very likely to return to me. As for ROB.... Eh it's a gut feeling of mine, all I can say on that.

Only big things that bug me are Waluigi. He's a spin off only character, so AT status fits him.

2 FE characters being combined seems weird to me as well.

Simon is unlikely. And I think Pac-Man is just a bad idea. Sakurai chose NES Meg Man, so it makes sense Pac-Man would be 2D and thus, a stage, AT, or something besides a character.

Also I see very many cuts, so any of the cuts you have make me grumpy.

Not too shabby of a roster, just a little on the slim side. And if you're going slim, you shouldn't have some out there characters or 4 3rd parties.
Again someone who can't read my comments I made when I posted the roster. I stated why 2 FE characters where there and that it was an eccedint of mine.

Simon is more likely then he gets credit for. Pac-Man is Namco and I am 100% sure they are going to get a single rep with Pac-Man being the most likely.

Cuts are going to happen. :/

It looks slim but the roster is actually 57 characters when including transformations.. .which again I already stated when I posted it.

Why can't people read. -_-

Yep. I apologize for being rude, but my point still stands...

And that means you just admitted it.

What makes them likely? Because you think they will happen? Let me tell you something.

None of us are, but when the majority of the internet thought something was likely during Pre-Brawl and Pre-Melee, a good chunk of the time, they were right.

Just look at... :falcomelee: :ganondorfmelee: :mewtwomelee: in Melee.

And :dedede: :diddy: :lucario: :metaknight: :olimar: :sonic: :wario: :wolf: in Brawl.

I'm not just going off by my own thoughts. They're pretty different from the majority, but people do have something called common sense. And a good chunk of the time, it is right.
Yeah, and I have the likely characters people predict. And I also have other likely characters most people don't. I'm not saying your characters aren't gonna get in. I'm saying they aren't the only ones. Trying to better understand choices is a better idea rather than shoving them aside because you don't recognize them. Here are reasons.

Gen 6 Trainer: It's naive to think every Pokemon will return, like my friend said (though he probably worded it badly) people act like All the Pokemon are NEEDED. Heck if someone like Mewtwo was removed for another Pokemon, why on earth is Lucario so likely to return.

I removed the original Pokemon Trainer for another one because

A: We have alot of Gen 1, including the certainty of Mewtwo. Pikachu and JigglyPuff are pretty important and I didn't think there was a lot of demand to keep Squirtle, IvySaur, and Charizard compared to the other characters.

B: We don't really have any Gen 6 reps besides Sylveon, and JigglyPuff seems like a better character to have. I was going to have both trainers, but there would be a whole lot of complaining.

As for DLC. There is nothing wrong with that. If anything it's a sensible solution to keeping old and new characters. Sakurai is greatly considering Mewtwo. Why does he have to be from the start, he might be DLC or a Bonus Pack. There's really no reasons given as to why DLC is a bad thing.

And if I wanna post ideas for characters, that's not a huge problem. It's like complaining about what fans WANT to happen instead of what they predict will happen.

And why do I have to post what makes these same characters likely every time I update a roster?

Or F-Zero. The good Falcon deserves a new one by now.
I would agree, but it's been a long time since we've had a new F-Zero title, and in-between Brawl and now F-Zero has been completely silent other than a piece of furniture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and an attraction in Nintendo-Land. The sad thing is that it's not even like Starfox, meaning while the series hasn't had a game in a while, it hasn't had very many references outside its main game as well. Starfox has had a incredible amount of references and easter eggs throughout the years, and even a somewhat recent re-release of Starfox 64. If they were to do something new with F-Zero, I'd say sure, but I don't think it's been enough yet.

Of course, if we were looking for F-Zero esque characters, you could always include the character that was the predecessor to Captain Falcon's series, which is Mach Rider.

Why do you guys even respond to him.
A greasy boy with bike light-reflectors and a foul odor all over his body comes bursting into your room as you and your friends are discussing Smash Bros. He tears apart the drawings one of your friends made and rapidly spews out his views and opinions, most of which you don't agree with. He occasionally adds insults directly aimed at you in between what he's saying, and laughs to himself really loudly each time. This is Noah personified.

Would you really not have anything to say in response to all that?

Putting him on ignore is like putting a projector screen between you and your friends with Noah still on their side of the screen. He's still there, it's just that now you have less of an idea of what's going on while your friends are still pissed off about it.

Lucas is essentially what Marth is to Fire Emblem, and considering what Nintendo what Nintendo has done with Earthbound, its not unlikely that we'll see an official Mother 3 release in the future. Mother 3 was also very popular in japan, so if lacking an international release disconfirms characters, let's rule out Roy right now then. Not to mention Sakurai has admitted to loving the Mother franchise.

Kid Icarus is not in dire need of a rep, it's not a series that has continued having consistent games and is not one of Nintendo's most established franchises, although I do think Palutena or Medusa or Magnus is incredibly likely for this game. F-Zero I just discussed, and I don't think it's done anything to warrant a new inclusion in quite some time. Metroid is still having games come out and we already know that once Tropical Freeze is done, we're going to be seeing more Metroid from Retro Studios. Not to mention unlike Kid Icarus, it's a series that's been around since the beginning and has only had one character all throughout, which is rather unfair.

I stopped right here. Before anything else. You need to learn this.

DLC is not bad, but PURPOSELY HOLDING A CHARACTER BACK FOR IT, is a terrible and despised idea. There is a reason why Capcom is on everyone's hatelist right now. Doing this would be suicide!

I have explained this in the past. As have others. Go look it up. Besides, a 6th Gen trainer isn't a good idea as they will have NO idea which pokemon will be popular when they develop the charcter. Sakurai could end up picking unpopular pokemon.
A: We have alot of Gen 1, including the certainty of Mewtwo. Pikachu and JigglyPuff are pretty important and I didn't think there was a lot of demand to keep Squirtle, IvySaur, and Charizard compared to the other characters.
Charizard is the most popular pokemon of all time. You thought there wouldn't be demand? Besides, Squirtle and Ivysaur will always be more popular than the majority of later pokemon.

And we don't play as generations. We play as characters
B: We don't really have any Gen 6 reps besides Sylveon, and JigglyPuff seems like a better character to have. I was going to have both trainers, but there would be a whole lot of complaining.

Newtwo?

Except we don't want it.

Metal Mario? Really?

He only said that quite a bit of characters were cut in that roster, not that no cuts will happen at all. :/
He also said to add them back and with the way it was worded it implied to add them all back.

I fail to see how Lucas is the Marth of Mother, like all the other ones he has only been in one game. But unlike Ness he wasn't released internationally and isn't currently getting a remake. Earthbound doesn't really deserve a second charater. I don't see how that last sentence matters at all. .-.

I suppose he should have worded that better I guess.

We won't really know who is going to be cut anyway until the game is out so yeah.

And no, this is not a "lets go cut half the roster again discussion" message or else I'm going to start talking about CORN again.

I will say that cuts are going to happen, but at what capacity is yet to be seen. Expecting every single character to return 100% guaranteed is a rather naive proposition.

Marth and Lucas are alike due to having both been Japan only characters when they were first introduced in Smash. Marth became a Smash staple, and I predict the same with Lucas. The remake really only strengthens his chances as Mother as a series is getting more recognition. Saying that Earthbound doesn't deserve another rep is rather opinionated, and it kinda does because Sakurai, in the end, decides who's in and who's out, and can you really say his bias has NEVER interfered before?

Yeah, what he said ^^.

We won't know who is going to be cut and how many. There will likely be some sort of priority list that Sakurai is probably using. Some characters may get replaced by others (like how Young Link was replaced by Toon Link) but I'm sure he's mainly aiming to bring most back at least.

It's practically over now though.
An argument with Noah is usually like an Earthquake...the P wave comes through to signify something is going to happen, the S-wave comes through and destroys everything...and there's almost always a chance of an after-shock. :p

What ticks me off more is the fact that people think that the Third party characters are instantly last priority, which has been anything but in previous examples. Snake was put in first-thing in Brawl, and as soon as Sakurai accepted the idea of Sonic in the game, he was instantly put in although it was late in development. And MegaMan, although third party, was one of the first three characters revealed for this Smash Bros. If anything, the third party characters are very important to Sakurai when making the game, so there's no reason to assume Snake and Sonic are on the bottom of the priority list.

Mother is like a 10 year old game series with th newest thing of the series being a remake, and the remake isn't even being updated or getting it's own physicaly copy, it's getting ported directly to the VC with nothing revamped, so yea it doesn't deserve 2 reps in all honesty. The difference between Marth and Lucas is the Marth is the main lord of FE and the mascot of FE and has the most games of any FE lord and sure in Melee he didn't have an international release then but he was a whole hck of allot more important to his series then Lucas. Lucase was only in one Mother game that never got released international and when compared Ness who has had his game released internationally and being the first one to get a remake he makes more sense to have then Lucas and it is very likely for Mother to lose a rep in the next Smash.

Agreed. As of right now, Sonic is probably one of the least like cuts, and probably one of the highest priority Brawl veterans. Third parties are probably some of the first to be put into development, since their gameplay and aesthetic accuracy is so crucial.

Age has nothing to due with cutting characters from Smash. That has never been the case. Popularity and impact play much larger roles. Saying that Lucas has only been in only one game isn't a fair argument since the series only has 3. The fact that he was the main character in the last installment should be grounds to warrant a return, if anything. Its probably not even going to come down to a Ness or Lucas situation as they're both likely for return.

I wouldn't say new 3rd parties are low priorities. However I think returning 3rd parties would be, even Sonic. But just because a character is low priority doesn't mean they are likely to get cut, JIggs is proof of that lol.

I'm pretty sure, if anything, Sakurai would want to get the licensing done as soon as possible, since those things could take some time to get done, and if they take a while to get finished, there may not be enough time to license them then create them, so getting them licensed and created early is probably the best strategy Sakurai can use at this point. Also, considering how closely connected the two characters are and how much Sakurai liked the characters in Brawl, I highly doubt he's going to wait too long to get them in.

Yeah, with the effort third-parties take, Sakurai is probably going to make sure they get sorted out as soon as possible, even returning ones. It's either all or nothing for them, if they are to be included they'll be given priority, if Sakurai doesn't feel they should return he's not even going to attempt to include them. It's not like a third-party would ever end up as part of the Forbidden 7 (or its equivalents), once they're in they are the priority over the majority of the roster.

bayonetta pls

pls sakurai pls
I'm pretty sure after how What's-his-face insulted Smash Bros fans for requesting Bayonetta for this Smash Bros, it's probably not going to happen. That guy is a reall @$$hole though, he did the exact same thing with fans of Soul Calibur 5 wanting Bayonetta thanks to the early rumors. It's as if he's so jealous of other franchises he doesn't want anyone having his character. :p

I think there should be 7 Earthbound newcomers and Geno, plus Krystal and Slippy, and maybe Shadow and Tails and Silver.
They should really cut Luigi and Peach though, such clones.
