Noah happened, started more drama (you should have seen how hammy he got earlier), and blocked me insisting I'm the "most idiotic speculator I've ever known". Shenanigans and I can say whatever I want to Noah without him screaming back at me for it. In the end, it was a tiring yet amusing day.

I really wish we could get him banned. Unless I missed something in the rules, however, he's squeaky clean... The most self-entitled brat to ever walk the forums, but technically innocent. Nothing we can do.

But yeah, the guy is a real poster. He's pretty cool/smart/respectable, but it seems like he's real laid back and probably took massive amounts of enjoyment from this thread.

And he's morbidly altruistic. That's just rad.

Every time I saw him like one of Noah's posts, I imagined his Avatar was sitting there having a riot of fun.

In the threads defense though, Noah does tend to make the enviroment hostile and unfriendly which in turn affects others. Regardless, we should be civil, stay on topic, and try to create constructive discussion with each other.


Lately, I've been wondering how sure of a lock is Olimar. What are people's thoughts? Will we get Olimar, Louie, or a new protagonist OR two Pikmin reps. In addition, do you think they will include the Stone Pikmin?

Yeah, except Falco and Wolf were DIFFERENT CHARACTERS. Not just recolors with an attitude. Also they are IMPORTANT characters. Also I can't grasp the concept of having a character that is just a recolor of another and having their own move set. I mean you could do that with Ninten because he's a completely different person entirely, and like any NES/FAMICOM character would be rebooted to fit his OWN unique design. And different PSI powers are used like Beam, Teleport, or Hypnosis.

I don't think we are going to make a recolor a separate character for the sole purpose of making use of more in game weapons from Uprising.

DIFFERENT characters, SAME arsenal. As for important characters, Dark Pit was fairly important in Kid Icarus: Uprising. So that too means nothing.

Just because you can't "grasp the concept" as you said, that doesn't mean it is out of the realms of possible.

And again (For the 3rd time), I am in no way a Dark Pit supporter, I'm just saying that anything can happen.

I'm not sure what the whole Dark Pit appeal is. As far as I'm concerned, if you want to play as Dark Pit follow these simple instructions.

1) Turn on Brawl
2) Select Pit
3) Change his colour to his Dark Pit scheme
4) Enjoy

Olimar appears in Pikmin 3 multiplayer as P2. So I think he's not going anywhere.

Pikmin is big money, Pikmin is ultra popular, Pikmin is a current/live franchise, Olimar is an amazing character in Smash, and they've already gotten the elephant of his size out of the room. Plus, out of only two possible reps, he's the only real one, because the other is a clone.

I think Olimar is not just a lock, but an absolute death megatron lock.

That's Yellow Devil that was a boss in the Mega Man series. There's more "Devil" type enemies throughout the series in which most were bosses as well if you look hard enough. Its main feature is splitting into multiple parts and going to the other side of the stage, in which each of those pieces could cause harm to you. This is most likely a hazard for the stage if not a potential boss.

Honestly, I think we'll get Yoshi and Little Mac. One vet, one newcomer. Yoshi to finish off the original starter characters, and Little Mac because...well, he's pretty much confirmed, anyway.

Part of me thinks it's one of the vets from one of the "already not shown" series, like Ness. Otherwise, it could be Peach, Zelda, or something. I have no thoughts about newcomers atm.

Lucas is nothing like Marth, because Marth is like "the legendary one" in the still-prominent and massively successful Fire Emblem series. Marth is the exemplification of every game in the series because he's been in the most, been playable in multiple, and usually has lore involving him. Lucas is just the main of several important characters in just one Mother game. Lucas will come-and-go like Roy did, as Roy was relevant during melee's release. I'd like to note that while I prefer Lucas and wish it was Ness that gets cut instead, most who speculate a cut speculate it to be Lucas.

Okay, sure, in a series with three games compared to one that has twelve Lucas may not be equal to Marth, but what you're saying is completely absurd with "Lucas is nothing like Marth" since he's the face of the series that everyone shows him as (No, not Smash Bros. Smash Bros is not Mother) and he's the one from the most popular game (Though this is also considering into fact emulation) in a series that's now over - Lucas will not "Come and go" like Roy did because for starters, the series are two totally different spectrums. End of story.

I highly doubt there will be another Metroid character for smash. I hear people suggest Ridley all the time but he just wouldn't fit. Samus has always been a lone bounty hunter, so I can't see her getting any supporting characters or, god forbid, Dark Samus.

The fan made English translation of the game got over 100,000 downloads its first week. Not to mention it being the "finale" to the series. So Lucas isn't going anywhere. I'd be a surprise and a major upset.
Mother sold over 400,000 copies in Japan, it was voted 9th greatest game on the famicom and 38th best game of all time. Ninten could get in.
Its more likely than skull kid. It's your opinion,metaphorically speaking, that Sonic will return. Its not fact, but its likely. Just saying its an opinion doesn't write anything off.

Skull kid's past is touched upon in MM, but in nearly the same way or as deep as Mother 3, quote the game's slogan: "Strange, Funny, and Heartrending" I think I've already proven Mother is popular and sold well. Popularity? So an entire forum (Starmen.net) (EarthBoundCentral) which are very popular, isn't proof of that? Or full fledged fan made english translations of Mother 1 and 3? Or the fan made Mother 4? People just don't do these things for franchises of undeserving worth. There has been overwhelming support for the fanbase, it is the only reason we're getting a virtual console release of earthbound now. Mother 3 sold just under the original with 365,682 copies sold in 2006 alone. Earthbound had approximately 330,000 Japanese sales. Mother rated 9th best game on famicom isn't relevance? There is your "True" evidence.

I just feel that there's so much pointing to it at this point. Especially after the Boxing Ring stage. Now, I know that stage=/=character, as the Animal Crossing stage in Brawl would suggest, but I just think that Little Mac wouldn't be the same case as Villager in Brawl, mainly because Little Mac is such an obvious choice for a fighter.


But yeah, just the way I see it.

The villains of mother are...kind of on a large scale to put in SSB kind of like how I feel about Ridley. Not actual SIZE, but a character that would lose character if they were a playable character. If that makes any sense. I think the Claus color palette was a good enough tribute. And If Porky does get in...he'd better be in that absolutely safe capsule.

Liking a particular character is okay, that said, I don't know how the Skull Kid stuff started but shoving him down people's throats as well as making uncalled for and random insults at everyone is intolerable. Not really sure if Noah needed to be banned, but if that's what it takes for this thread to stay civil then so be it.

After all:

-Sakurai denied Villager for a clear reason, then turned over a new leaf for Smash 4.
-Sukapon was among popular requests for Melee and supposedly Brawl (need verification).
-Unique in terms of design and style, something Sakurai looks for.
-According to Tri (who recently posted, lol), Sukapon was apparently planned for Melee. I have yet to see clear verification on this, but if this is true, then that's a big deal.

I would mostly refer to these articles when talking about Sukapon.

EDIT: In hindsight, Sukapon is the only other previously dismissed character that makes sense. Though I'm not sure if we should be using Villager as an excuse to suddenly deem him as a viable character in the character pool.

Personally though, I would hope that Sakurai changes his mind on Sukapon as well.

I see it as Sakurai changing his mind on particular "final" issues.
Characters like Villager "would not be playable if it doesn't make sense for them to fight". Then we get Villager and as a bonus, Wii Fit Trainer; two characters that wouldn't have made sense as fighters (including one directly used as an example).

Sukapon, we were told "not to expect him in the future". Granted, that was right after Melee, but still.


And no, I'm not using those articles as direct proof. Until what Sakurai said about Sukapon is without a doubt translated correctly, I do not consider Sukapon a "planned character".

It's weird how there wasn't a concrete reason as to why Sukapon was dismissed. I mean, obviously the character is dismissed, but there wasn't a particular reason as to why the character was dismissed.
