Roster Prediction Discussion Thread

I am curious if there is an expectation that we will be getting another character confirmation next week.

Here are possible dates that could coincide with a character confirmation:

Newcomers:
Toad (Super Mario 3D World release)
Little Mac (Punch-Out anniversary)
Rosalina (Super Mario 3D World release)

Veterans:
Zelda (A Link Between Worlds release)
Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong Country 2 anniversary)
Captain Falcon (F-Zero anniversary)

I think a veteran confirmation is far more likely. It might be possible we get Falcon next week because there is really no other better time to confirm him (contrast that with Diddy Kong who could be used to promote Tropical Freeze, and Zelda who could be used to promote A Link Between Worlds's Japanese release next month).

A reveal for the next week is pretty likely...and I can't wait.

Since declawing a Meowth would probably be frowned upon, I imagine he has four paws full of claws.

Well.... Sakurai could always add him as Team Rocket Meowth. So other than clawing, kicking, biting, tail whipping, amulet coining, glaring, and the occasional Fire/Ice/Thunder Fang moves, Team Rocket could also support with Arbok and Weezing through specials. :D

I think a non-Pokemon veteran reveal is actually somewhat likely. I think the reason Sakurai didn't reveal anything for X/Y's release was because TPC/Game Freak didn't want him to(remember that GF has more control over their IPs than other Nintendo devs)

Sadly, he;s right. Megaman's inclusion was pretty much the death knell for any other potential Capcom characters.

Technically, he is, but because Toad is often in the shadows of his own species, it tends to make it impossible for us to know whether or not "the" Toad is present. Of course, the Super Mario Galaxy titles did try to resolve the matter by making the Toad Brigade captain share the same traits as "the" Toad. This eventually proves that the Toad Brigade captain truly is "the" Toad.

And by Super Mario 3D World, the confirmation that "the" Toad has taken the status of Toad Brigade captain became more obvious.

In my mind, Falcon and Zelda are the most likely to be announced. I'm fairly certain that we will see Zelda either next week or next month, but with all the games for the 22, it'd be weird not to have a character reveal. I still believe we didn't see a Pokemon character because Pokemon didn't need the promotion, with all that hype that went on. A character reveal would be perfect for ALBW, 3D World, or an anniversary. But regardless, next week is likely Falcon or Zelda.

I'm having doubts about Rosalina being a fighter, in terms of importance and competition, but I guess she has merits. We could very well see a newcomer next week, although I agree it is really unlikely.

With the emergence and relevancy of Toad Brigade Toad and Blue Toad, I think that Human shield Toad can very realistically be assumed as A TOAD and not necessarily THE TOAD. I'm hoping he shows up this time around.

Also that Shadow clipart image is like 10 years old now. I love Shadow, but if you're trying to hype your new glorious avatar, you might want to try a little harder.
