Yeah, he's just one of over 700 Pokemon. Like Mr. Mime. No real significanceApparently all of the promotion Lucario got in recent years doesn't count all of a sudden.

I hope he looks into the 5th Generation and looks at Zoroark. There's a lot to consider with the Pokemon characters, and we all know it. Popularity, marketability, what's new, what's iconic, SSB veteranship, the fact there's over 700 of them, what Sakurai wants, what GameFreak wants, blah blah blah blah...
It's not nearly as cut-and-dried as any other franchise we consider. And none of those are easy to predict in the first place.
I absolutely love the tactician for every reason you have said. I have no idea if the avatar is any more or less likely than Chrom, but I would be equally happy with either.@pizzamandudeguy:
At this point, I'm feeling we'd get Robin/Avatar/My Unit/Tactician if we were to get a character from Awakening rather than Chrom.
If he does or has already decided that he will look at the 5th gen, my money would be on Zoroark. I would highly enjoy that.I hope he looks into the 5th Generation and looks at Zoroark.
His illusion ability would offer alot of potential, Sakurai would probably consider him because of it.
I fail to see potential in that ability, and Zoroark's time has passed on to Genesect.I hope he looks into the 5th Generation and looks at Zoroark.

Indeed, no matter what, I still support Zoroark, for SHE would make for a fun character who is still relevant today being available in X and Y.I hope he looks into the 5th Generation and looks at Zoroark.

Pokemon is certainly one of the trickier ones. However, the five most people have on their rosters now are probably the most iconic out of any possible contender: the mascot, the main character, the posterchild that has been surging in popularity since its debut, the popular yet odd-ball one that was huge in Japan at the time, and the main, iconic legendary that appears in all the movies. However, Gamefreak could want something different for the lineup, which scares me a little. There's a lot to consider with the Pokemon characters, and we all know it. I just want her to replace Lucario because she's cooler, has the Shadow Ball, and she's dark type. But, then again Genesect would be better.Indeed, no matter what, I still support Zoroark, for SHE would make for a fun character who is still relevant today being available in X and Y.
Yeah, I have a hunch Sakurai may end up going down this road if he wants to rep specifically FE13 and have something that contrasts more with what we have already seen in Smash Bros.@pizzamandudeguy:

The feature of an avatar character was present in three games now:
-FE7, though it was only a Tactician of the playable Lord Trio that you could name.
-New Mystery of the Emblem, with a secondary main character that had been added to this remake as Marth's closest ally and the Hero of Shadow (while Marth is the Hero of Light).
-Awakening, with, well I don't have to explain that one.
Awakening's Avatar is a considerably popular (and important; may be even more important than Chrom himself) character, with the male version being the official 3rd most popular male in Awakening in Japan and the female being the 2nd most popular female character.
And as Wii Fit Trainer shows, we're not limited to just one set gender, so that issue doesn't apply.
It also helps that the Avatar has a lot to work with for the sake of uniqueness, to the point that the common argument for Chrom ("he doesn't offer anything new in comparison to Marth/Ike") doesn't apply either.
*ahem*I am actually! That's how Louie G. And I became friends, he reconized me! Oh and btw thanks for the warm welcomes everybody!
However, Gamefreak could want something different for the lineup, which scares me a little.
I would still prefer Zoroark, her more agile and quick-based fighting style is more appealing to me than what most likely be that of a streamlined robot with pincer attacks and energy strikes.I just want her to replace Lucario because she's cooler, has the Shadow Ball, and she's dark type. But, then again Genesect would be better.
Is he waiting for the Meowth bus?awesome picture
I hope in with all the luck he picks Anna. She already contrasts from all the FE characters out in Smash Bros.Yeah, I have a hunch Sakurai may end up going down this road if he wants to rep specifically FE13 and have something that contrasts more with what we have already seen in Smash Bros.
I don't think he cares what game he represents as much as what character he represents. And the most popular, iconic, and requested after Marth & Ike is Roy.Yeah, I have a hunch Sakurai may end up going down this road if he wants to rep specifically FE13 and have something that contrasts more with what we have already seen in Smash Bros.
I imagine Self Destruct WOULD be his Final Smash. The only way I'd accept Genesect is if its final Smash was akin to this:
Original: Pikachu and MeowthWhat would you have done with Pokemon in SSB if you had made it from scratch?
In the original, I would have had Pikachu and Meowth.
In Melee, I would have probably added Mewtwo and called it good.
In Brawl, I probably wouldn't have even thought of the Trainer idea. I'd probably stick in Lucario and call it good.
And then now? Guess I'd throw in Zoroark.
...I actually like that line-up. Don't think it'd actually happen though.
I don't know about that. I'm pretty darn sure no one requested Roy before his inclusion in Melee. He didn't exist.I don't think he cares what game he represents as much as what character he represents. And the most popular, iconic, and requested after Marth & Ike is Roy.
Flawed.I don't know about that. I'm pretty darn sure no one requested Roy before his inclusion in Melee. He didn't exist.
...I dunno about you, but that sounds more like game promotion to me.

Umm....I wasn't talking about back in 2000. Currently he's the most iconic, popular, and requested Fire Emblem character after Marth & Ike.I don't know about that. I'm pretty darn sure no one requested Roy before his inclusion in Melee. He didn't exist.

Quite simple really:What would you have done with Pokemon in SSB if you had made it from scratch?

At least make Palutena move up to the main roster. Here's my roster with updated Marth icon:
The four in the corner are DLC choices of mine.
The roster is 51 with transformations, but when you take out Sheik, ZSS, Ivysaur and Charizard, it turns into 47.
man that big sword icon would be way too overpowered. Here's my roster with updated Marth icon:
I know, I know. I just meant as a general rule.Umm....I wasn't talking about back in 2000. Currently he's the most iconic, popular, and requested Fire Emblem character after Marth & Ike.
Really good roster. I'm a little dissapointed to see the placeholders, but hey. The only idea I'd say I don't like is the Mii. Pac-Man I'm indifferent. The rest I really like. Here's my roster with updated Marth icon:

DK symbol is in place of Dixie or K.Rool. Fire Emblem icon is in place of Roy or Chrom.
I love the concept, it's fantastic (personally, I don't see the need for Palutena in the main roster, so that's fine). Here's my roster with updated Marth icon:

Just the usual roster, everyone here likes, good job. Here's my roster with updated Marth icon:

I don't really think Palutena is essential to be in the game. Uprising did well, but Kid Icarus is still a series with few installments, and not that large of an impact upon the industry. At least make Palutena move up to the main roster.
If Sakurai really doesn't consider her worthy inclusion with her noticeable popularity.
Really good roster. I'm a little dissapointed to see the placeholders, but hey. The only idea I'd say I don't like is the Mii. Pac-Man I'm indifferent. The rest I really like.
Thanks for the input guys. I can't really decide between Chrom and Roy anymore, but it's a definite K.Rool preference for me.I love the concept, it's fantastic (personally, I don't see the need for Palutena in the main roster, so that's fine).
I WOULD recommend you settle on a DK and FE character of your choice (we won't get mad! We've been very accepting recently. But you better pick K. Rool! ).
Well, I guess Mother is the same, right?I don't really think Palutena is essential to be in the game. Uprising did well, but Kid Icarus is still a series with few installments, and not that large of an impact upon the industry.
I say, to mediate between the two sides for FE, pick Robin.I love the concept, it's fantastic (personally, I don't see the need for Palutena in the main roster, so that's fine).

Me too...at least on the K. Rool part. Thanks for the input guys. I can't really decide between Chrom and Roy anymore, but it's a definite K.Rool preference for me.

Yes, BUT...Well, I guess Mother is the same, right?
Size isn't much of an issue for character representation.

But Palutena is the Zelda of the franchise, she's the titular character in Japan.Yes, BUT...
Pit still represents Kid Icarus Uprising. Ness does not represent Mother 3.
