Except the Namco company has an actual relationship with Nintendo unlike Microsoft who has there own game system. Also we all know that Sakurai doesn't accept characters that didn't originate as video game characters. That is what we call proof. And hey there is always that 1% although the chances are higher then that for Namco. And lastly I believe I haven't actually insulted you in either of these posts.

Is Pac-Man just any third party? No. He's a gaming icon. Sakurai never stated that Namco characters wouldn't get in the game. Just that they got no special treatment. They still have to jump through all the hoops. What this statement really says is that you have to be an icon to be in. Snake, Sonic, Megaman, and Pac-Man all fit that criteria.

(Edit: I know tons of people have already stated this) Sakurai did say Namco characters wouldn't be in solely because Namco is working on it, but he didn't exactly say it would be impossible to have a Namco character.

We can still get Pac-Man or Lloyd, but it's just that they won't be given special treatment simply for being Namco characters.

Pac-Man is one of the most iconic video game characters that's graced the industry, and his history on Nintendo consoles has ran since 1984 and Pac-Man games are still on Nintendo consoles today. That's coming up on 30 years when this game comes out in 2014. For reference, Sonic first appeared on a Nintendo console back in 2001 with Sonic Adventure Battle 2 (Gamecube) and Sonic Advance (GBA). That's only 13 years by Smash Wii U's anticipate release date.

Yeah, Sakurai isn't giving Namco Bandai any special treatment for developing this game, but that doesn't mean he can't use their character. If he feels like Pac-Man will make a unique addition to the game, then he'll add him. Pac-Man has that history that Snake, Mega Man and Sonic have, and he meets all the criteria that Sakurai has when it comes to character inclusion. So really, the only thing standing in Pac-Man's way from getting in this game is if Sakurai doesn't want to include Pac-Man.

I'm indifferent to Pac-Man's inclusion, but making assumptions that he is in the game will only lead to a massive amount of butthurt if he is revealed (and a lot of neener-neeners from most of this thread's posters ).

Sakurai said you had to originate from a video game and had to have been on a Nintendo system to be in, so more or less he did say no to them. I don't think the 2nd most iconic video game character who is still having crossovers with the most iconic video game character is just any character. I knew from the beginning Namco wouldn't revive special treatment but because of the things I just mentioned and that Namco helping makes it a lot easier to get the rights to use him, I found him to be a likely choice. I do think what he said makes his chances less likely, but they're nowhere near impossible. Pac-Man would probably be received the same way as Wii Fit Trainer. Disliked at first by some and then they see how he plays and are either neutral or like him.

Ill be honest, I think the whole reason sakurai said namco isnt getting special treatment is because well.. they are getting special treatment, Im 100% confident that if another 3rd party character is added it will be pacman.

It does appear that Noah only reads things he is asked to read and the things that have insults in them. Sorry about that but he is really pissing me and a lot of other people off. I put him back on the ignore list and will try not to read his stuff anymore. But I agree with swamp. At least talking to him about being civil would be nice. This is normally a very civil thread until he shows up and then it just goes to chaos.
