Look, Chris or Jill have a larger chance than most other Capcom characters (we are excluding Mega Man because he is already in the game) to be in the 3DS version as exclusives. It was mainly because of Mercenaries 3D and Revelations. Think about this.

Mega Man is it for a Capcom character. Time and time again he stress the importance of not overdoing third-parties and how important it is for a third-party addition to count. He has also mentioned the stress of licensing issues and fitting the character into the universe.

What makes people think that they'll double dip on a Capcom rep, especially when they're barely requested in comparison to Mega Man?

Alright but you still have a huge number of anime and third party characters ahead of much more likely options, in fact the three you have tied for most likely all have a pretty small chance. It's completely bogus. Also banjo is owned by Microsoft so he is just about as likely as master chief to be in the game.

The resident evil characters do not have a better chance then all the other capcom characters because all of their likeliness is the same, 0.

This is what I think:

Since Nintendo says that they will add 3DS exclusive stages to the 3DS game, and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations appears on the 3DS. If there is a Resident Evil stage, like the Queen Zenobia or The Village, most likely Chris Redfield will appear as a version exclusive character.

If there are Resident Evil stages for the Wii U version, since they base the stages from the Wii and WiiU games, Leon S. Kennedy will likely appear as the Resident Evil version exclusive character.

I also think that Pac-Man and Seigfried Schtauffen (Or Sophitia Alexandra) will likely appear in the game. More so Pac-Man will be a (or the) Namco representative.

I also think that Rosalina will be a new Mario representative. I also think that Ghirahim will be most likely to replace Ganondorf (if he does not get in).

But anyways, I also think about these characters as newcomers, from most likely to least likely:

The characters are highlighted all have are fairly likely to average likeliness.

Takamaru is the top pick for a Retro representative since him and his franchise has recieved a lot of love recently from Nintendo.

While I wouldn't consider Saki very likely (:tear: ), I would place him above many of the 3rd party characters you mentioned as well as Raichu, Dark Link, and the Pokemon trainers you listed.

Same goes with Krystal. I am not a big fan of hers but she is still more likely compared to Goku, Chris, or even Banjo due to them being 4th/3rd party.

Mach Rider is a fairly popular and requested Retro character that usually ranks right behind Takamaru in most polls.

Finally, due to Dixie Kong's surge in both relevancy and popularity due to the recently announced DKC for the Wii U, many consider her likeliness to be on par with King K. Rool or even greater.

As well, those three you put up Rosalina, Ghirahim, and Zoroark have average to above average chances; often shown in most polls. However, I would not consider them very likely.

I just felt like pointing those out. I would say that any 4th party character has a 0% chance of appearing while 3rd party companies unrelated to Nintendo (Slenderman, Master Chief, and, technically, Banjo-Kazooie) also have a 0% chance (though I would rank Banjo a bit higher but I highly doubt he could get in.) Finally, a second capcom representative is also unlikely due to Megaman's inclusion. If we got more than one character from a company, we may have seen Shadow or Raiden in SSBB but we didn't. In addition, Sakurai is pretty picky with adding 3rd party characters. Prior to Megaman getting in, we had no idea if they would include a 3rd party character again. So I doubt we will see a Resident Evil character due to the unspoken rule of "One character per one company".

Oh, and both the Wii U and the 3DS will have the same amount of characters. So, that debunks your Chris/Jill being only on the 3DS argument.

Wish Rare and Nintendo stayed close like the N64 days... though I suppose I also wish Square and Nintendo stayed close like the SNES days, maybe someday these companies will be close enough to include characters in some future Smash installment but I don't see it happening right now. But I'd love to see it happen regardless of it being unlikely.

Square and Nintendo arent really on bad terms. they still do work with eachother quite often. Square has plenty of exclusive series with them like Dragon Quest, most of them not all, and lots of Final Fantasy games are exclusive to them. hell Squares even done a couple games with Nintendo characters like Mario Hoops, Mario Sports Mix and Fortune Street. and one of the writers from Final Fantasy helped with the storyline for Brawl if i remember correctly.

Oh I'm aware Nintendo and Square aren't feuding or anything, thus I'm still pulling for Geno. I was more just saying if the relationship between the two was like the SNES days I think Square would certainly be represented in Smash, Same with Rare in the N64 days (if the roster was as full of nintendo staples as it is now and 3rd parties had decided to be included).

The way I've always looked at it is that 3rd parties should never exceed 10% of the roster and I'd say Sakurai feels the same, if not stronger about them. Anyone thinking we're going to get 5-6 3rd parties is setting themselves up for disappointment.
Most forumers understand this but it needs to be said looking through the last few hours of conversation

I know if only they did, Banjo would be awesome to have as a playable character in Smash, everything is tailored perfectly throughout the games for him to work well too. At least we can dream.

Needless to say at least we got Megaman, and while I find it highly unlikely that we'll get more than two third-party reps if we were to lets get Simon Belmont in here, Snake is awesome though there is a lot of potential for Simon Belmont to do really well in a Smash game.

I don't understand why Magnus would be considered a viable 2nd Kid Icarus rep considering there's Palutena, Hades, Medusa, Dark Pit, Viridi, and others. I feel he is rather lack luster when compared to the various gods and goddesses. That's just personal bias talking. I'm not a big fan of Magnus.

True. I personally would love to have Medusa as the second KI rep. But it really doesn't mean that Magnus isn't a popular choice for a second KI rep. The others are just more popular.

I actually wrote that wrong. I was saying I would miss them if that was the roster and not saying you needed them in your roster. There is a chance anybody not confirmed could be cut other than a few big names like Yoshi, Luigi, etc. that we know will be back.

Seems rather possible. I do like that you added classic Link. Though I'm unsure that Nook and Wonder Red Ken are super likely, though Red would be a really fun choice. Unfortunately I can see Ike getting cut for Chrom like you do too. I'm not too sure Lucas will stay, while Magnus is interchangeable with other KI:U characters.

Based on what they actually did, these are a few characters that I would like to see in.

Paper Mario: Same guy, but his moveset ideas are endless. Lovable character as well.
Waluigi: I dont know, Ive always liked the guy and he has a previous model from brawl. Warioware coming out might as well give a Warioish rep.
Cranky Kong: Like the original style DK. That would be interesting.

It's funny because this is a roster that would have been bashed to hell a week ago now it's all in the realm of possibility. Personally I am of the opinion that the roster will be mor like 45. So if I were to add two it would be ice climbers for sure and then either another newcomer say Isaac, or just put charizard back, not the whole pokemon trainer just charizard. I see just charizard making it is in the realm of possibility. I also don't see why you made all of the cuts you did and didn't cut lucario. So I would suggest cut lucario and add ice climbers, charizard, and Isaac.

Lol? Separating the pokémon would take up less space, as the trainer model would become unnessary. One less model to create and animate.

I'd be fine with that, though I don't think it will happen. My guess is the Trainer is as important to the Pokemon as the Pokemon are to the Trainer in Sakurai's mind.

Positively. I don't want there to be the P.Trainer and W.F.Trainer both in the menu, and we already consider them three different characters that're connected with a bad stamina mechanic.

@Fall, I'm pretty sure he meant that it'd take up a lot of space on the character select screen, though I actually think it'd take up more space otherwise as well. If they're considered full characters, the story mode and other modes may have to accommodate their more prominent status.

I meant space as in roster images not actual game space lol. Pokemon would have potentially Charizard, Ivysaur, Squirtle, Jigglpyuff, Pikachu, Lucario, and Mewtwo. That is 7 characters. I would be fine with that but others would not.

Any roster that drops Pokemon Trainer but keeps Lucario is automatically a long shot, imo.

One we get 1 or 2 more newcomers I think I'll have a better "Realistic Roster."

I think she has pretty good chance. She apparently good enough to replace Peppy in the Starfox games, so she seems to be moving up in the ranks to me.
After seeing that Villager boxing jab move I am personally worried for Lil Mac. I really want him though. Sakurai seems pretty humble about putting characters in games he worked on in Smash.
It did take him 3 installments just to put King DeDeDe and Metaknight. That's why i am skeptical about Palutena.

Opinion acknowledged. This is just how I think it might turn out, but it may turn out that you were right as we get closer to release. But as of right now this is how I feel.

I mean if sakurai wants somebody unique from star fox he could drop someone and stick Krystal in. Or maybe he could just add her. You never know coming from a guy who revealed 2 (considered) unlikely characters and a third party at e3. The guy likes to screw with us
