Me neither. I'd want clones only if all other characters where done right, as a nice bonus or something. Maybe even as a DLC-only option? Luigified clones ala Wolf, Lucas and Toon Link not counted of coarse.
No, not even as an extra, as that's more development time that can be put into something more productive.

But it's funny, many people here go for the quantity over quality idea. We've had people here openly say how they would rather have clones rather than not if it means more characters.

I just don't get it...
People want to see their favourite chars get in. No matter how much they suck

The more the merrier.

Again, having a lot doesn't mean much if it's sketchy. I mean I could talk about how Brawl provides a lot but it only worked for certain things. The lazy trophies and stickers, the pointless masterpieces, the unbalanced stages and characters, the mixed music, the lazy stage editor, the tedious story mode.

Character balance is my biggest wish for Smash 4 actually. And yeah, development time is better spend making the whole game picture perfect than adding clones.

No it's it not. Even if consumers say, the more the merrier, adding clones, thus making the roster bigger does not satisfy the costumer unless it has their favorite characters in it. If the game had Pichu, Dr.Mario and other clones back, but not King K.Rool, Ridley, Mewtwo or Megaman- be sure there'll be a LOT of complaints about the character roster.

I know. But thats the general mentality of the buyers. The developers are forced to deal with it.
Or, you know, they could be rebels and say, "**** this ****. You guys are a bunch of idiots. We're going to make a game you won't be ******** about five years from now."

There's a concept known as the silent majority. The fans who desperately want those clones find their way to these forums. While others who assume those characters are not coming back stay silent, assured that the characters in the next game will be original and new.

Pretty much that yeah. Hence why people even think it's likely Dr.Mario will get back are dillusional.

Cause c'mon, weren't we all talking about Dr.Mario just now?

I take it nobody but Manly was interested in doing movesets like I do? :c

Real talk, sitting down and writing one out will make you realize what needs to go into the characters.

Sucks to be neutral in these subjective debates. On the one hand I agree that quality should be placed before quantity, but on the other hand I haven't really had a problem with most of the decisions Sakurai has made with Smash (and Uprising), I'm over *****ing about clones and I'm fine with Brawl's gameplay and content. No matter what side I take I'm going to get burned in the end and called a moron.

I joined in late, so please explain what you have in mind. I could go for a moveset talk, heck I could go for a stage/music/Assist Trophy talk too. :)

I like to do movesets actually. Just don't often really make time for them.

I actually can do move sets, but it takes a while to do because thinking on a certain path is easier said then done and fleshing it out is not any better. Even then, things crop up to make me question if it would work or not.

I can say that making a full moveset is not a simple task like some people think.

I made so many movesets that all got lost, it kinda discouraged me making new ones actually...

I have drafted ideas for Dark Pit and plan on doing one for FE:A's Avatar.

Both will be stance characters, by the way:

Dark Pit: Silver Bow -> Dark Pit Staff -> Ogre Club -> Silver Bow
Avatar: Sword <-> Tome

You made a Metal Mario move set too? I can't remember where I put mine. I believe it's somewhere in the Mario character discussion thread.

I think out of all the move sets I've made for characters, Slippy's was the most interesting for me when I made his support thread months ago. I've made a Peppy Hare move set as well but never posted it due to me wanting to make drawings as examples to go along with the written portion of his specials and some A moves.

Well, to not bog down this thread/derail it: I have two tutorials as a long-time MYMer (we make movesets for fun lol) for what goes into a smash character's moveset in the General Moveset Thread. One on page 1 (post #34) that explains the basics, and another on page 2 (post #42) that dives into creative possibilities that we don't see currently in smash.

Give them a look if you want, I just like talking about them (I've made about 30 to date including 2 6-man trainer sets) and find it interesting when it comes to newcomers due to the sheer possibility they can bring :)

Edit:

Like, gimme a newcomer you guys all think is likely / has potential for quality in their gameplay.

I can probably do a moveset for any character I have some knowlegde of. But I mostly like doing moveset changes for the current cast.

People will ***** about anything. SSB4 could be made of solid gold and people would still complain.

Movesets are extremely difficult sometimes, but are very rewarding!

Same for me on your first point.

For now, I'll be thinking on a moveset for Dark Pit.

I will postpone my Avatar idea for when I get to play and finish FE: Awakening, though. I take the character's personalities in consideration when making movesets, so understanding the story will have its importance.

Yep. He was pretty fun to make, but I'm a bit disappointed how generic he turned out overall. I might redo him soon.

For me, believe it or not, Shiny Charizard was my favorite.

I incorporated so many poke-moves into his moves, even his A attacks. I really went all out on him. Maybe I'll post it soon.

If Sakurai ever included a Mii character to the roster(choosing from Mii's you've created) how would you guys think it's move set would be like? I wouldn't want anything complicated but at the same time not anything half assed.

My first thought is to 'copy' Emerl from Sonic Battle. Though, how would it work with characters with swords? And characters like Snake...

Miis as custom fighters may be a bit weird, I'd rather be able to beat the crap out of waves of my friends lol
