Though, the dress sword combo could be an issue with programmers.
What do you mean, because of the Mini-Skirt? Nah...
The point is -- as I've regurgitated ad nauseam -- Waddle Dee is a safe choice for a character that brings a unique play style to the series. For those reasons I believe Sakurai WILL develop him into a playable character (DLC or not). If this were NeoGAF, I'd even place an avatar bet on this. That is how confident I am.
Do we wish to talk about Slime next?
I think you're overestimating the importance of Bandana Dee... Think about it for a moment, Kirby already has 3 reps, and Kid Icarus (another of Sakurai's series) will be getting a rep for sure in the form of Palutena.
That will be 5 characters that can be considered "Sakurai's," adding Bandana Dee into the mix will only further increase this and cause some dissent among people where some will say Sakurai's characters take priority over others. As we know, Sakurai is actually the opposite, he's quite humble and hesitant to do what I just mentioned.
The only reason we got two Kirby reps in Brawl is because Dedede was already planned for Melee, and both Dedede and Meta Knight had insane support. I don't think history will be repeating itself this time around. Bandana Dee has nowhere near the amount of support those two had.
Now the idea of a Spear user is an interesting one, however, in the form of Bandana Dee I think it's just as unlikely as Ephriam getting in, simply because Bandana Dee isn't very important or iconic. Unlike Yoshi and Toad who have had more games to stand out in, including the Mario Kart, and Party games, a large portion of people will accept that there are Yoshi the species, and THE Yoshi. This is not the case where the majority of people WILL see Bandana Dee as the "Generic Enemy" form Kirby, it would be like adding in Dry Bones for many.
Also, in regard to Yoshi and Toad, Yoshi has had a nice number of "Yoshi" games, and Toad, well I'm also a bit hesitant to support him for similar reasons as BD and because I'd much rather see Paper Mario.
On a side note, who's the Spear/Lance user who "Shall not me mentioned?"
Anyway, blame IS for not making more Lance Wielding protags for Fire Emblem, and instead making everyone a Generic Sword user. Why are swords so Goddamn popular?
Wow. Not coming here for just a day, and this thread moved 10 pages ahead.
10 pages where we talked about nothing and everything at the same time... Yeah, this thread moves too fast sometimes.
Ridley is one scary dragon that would make himself a frightening playable character in SSB4. It's not that surprising since EVERY Nintendo video game (especially Super Smash Bros.) has some form of Nightmare Fuel in it. I would expect Super Smash Bros. 4 to have as much as Brawl and Melee (where it all started).
Ridley could be an incredible and awesome character if made properly. He can quite easily be one of the most unique and interesting characters in the game. Especially if they go ahead and do what I said and make him a character who specializes in Aerial Dominance by giving him Aerial Smash Attacks. Oh man, even more so if ALL characters get Air Dashes and High Jumps, Ridley could be an awesome way to introduce a stronger aerial flair to the game. Especially in Smash Bros where his large size makes it the perfect balance for his strengths, where in HP based fighters he'd just be a flying target.
