Kilik was actually pretty awesome, but I'm still not sold on the whole WD idea. Why not Ephriam then? Why must we have the generic lackey? I mean, at least Toad is somewhat justified, as it's parallel to Yoshi, but WD? Nah man, I ain't biting.
Bandana Dee = The Toad = The Yoshi

He's only generic in the same sense that Yoshi and Toad are. There are multiple of their race who look similar. But, prominent Heroic Dees have been in Kirby for a long time now. Really, Bandana Dee being a Waddle dee is your only argument against him. He is a seperate entity from the generic versions of his race.

Really, you gotta play RtDL and fall in love with Bandana Dee.

Aren't waddle dees primary sources for Kirby to get his powers? I feel like the combatants in Smash are used in that regard for Kirby.

I would rather Kirby gain a flashier side B (DeDeDe has the hammer now) that could represent one of the various Waddle Dee special attacks than for a Waddle Dee to appear as a fighter.

I'm just shaky on the chances of another Kirby rep
So tired of hearing things like that, and this isn't just the Krystal fan in me saying this. Adding ONE character to any franchise at this point wouldn't be too much. If we could have had Eight Pokemon in Brawl, I don't think Four Kirby, Five Mario, or Six Zelda characters would be out of place. (Hell, we almost had six LoZ characters). It's one thing to say "because Sakurai doesn't blahblahblah" but to solely say it's because too many x franchise characters is kinda silly.

And not trying to single you out opposom ^.^ What you said just triggered a rant ~
*pinches cheeks* You're the baby of the thread nao. Since Horsetail isn't anymore.

I kind of saw myself as the most "innocent and sweetest" in this group. But I was treated as the Baby? (So who was the Samus?)

Did I ever tell you that most of my friends in other sites are girls? I think I must have what it takes to have a harem. They love me and my sweet heart and innocent boy-like persona. Also helps that I can be awkward but I can get away making it dojikko-cute.

Ah well, like I never told it before, my whole username is play on "Tsukushi-kun", my previous username in NinDB which again refers to Bugsy from Pokemon (that shota cutie, seriously).

Shortie: Harharhar Shortie.

Forever Young. *Does a noogie on Oasis*

(Also when you get over the fact how Micaiah was depicted by that artist in her DLC artwork, I might actually say, she looks rather... cute in that outfit. Maybe because it layers over the attractive-looking outfit with that sort of an innocent character...

...

Just kidding.

I gotta yet see FE13 though to make my final judgement on the character design... from what I've heard it's pretty fanserviceyish at times, something I haven't ever thought of I.S doing since they're meant to be medieval war fighters. (-l^i-)

Ridley is one scary dragon that would make himself a frightening playable character in SSB4. It's not that surprising since EVERY Nintendo video game (especially Super Smash Bros.) has some form of Nightmare Fuel in it. I would expect Super Smash Bros. 4 to have as much as Brawl and Melee (where it all started).

Though, the dress sword combo could be an issue with programmers.
What do you mean, because of the Mini-Skirt? Nah...

The point is -- as I've regurgitated ad nauseam -- Waddle Dee is a safe choice for a character that brings a unique play style to the series. For those reasons I believe Sakurai WILL develop him into a playable character (DLC or not). If this were NeoGAF, I'd even place an avatar bet on this. That is how confident I am.

Do we wish to talk about Slime next?
I think you're overestimating the importance of Bandana Dee... Think about it for a moment, Kirby already has 3 reps, and Kid Icarus (another of Sakurai's series) will be getting a rep for sure in the form of Palutena.

That will be 5 characters that can be considered "Sakurai's," adding Bandana Dee into the mix will only further increase this and cause some dissent among people where some will say Sakurai's characters take priority over others. As we know, Sakurai is actually the opposite, he's quite humble and hesitant to do what I just mentioned.

The only reason we got two Kirby reps in Brawl is because Dedede was already planned for Melee, and both Dedede and Meta Knight had insane support. I don't think history will be repeating itself this time around. Bandana Dee has nowhere near the amount of support those two had.

Now the idea of a Spear user is an interesting one, however, in the form of Bandana Dee I think it's just as unlikely as Ephriam getting in, simply because Bandana Dee isn't very important or iconic. Unlike Yoshi and Toad who have had more games to stand out in, including the Mario Kart, and Party games, a large portion of people will accept that there are Yoshi the species, and THE Yoshi. This is not the case where the majority of people WILL see Bandana Dee as the "Generic Enemy" form Kirby, it would be like adding in Dry Bones for many.

Also, in regard to Yoshi and Toad, Yoshi has had a nice number of "Yoshi" games, and Toad, well I'm also a bit hesitant to support him for similar reasons as BD and because I'd much rather see Paper Mario.

On a side note, who's the Spear/Lance user who "Shall not me mentioned?"

Anyway, blame IS for not making more Lance Wielding protags for Fire Emblem, and instead making everyone a Generic Sword user. Why are swords so Goddamn popular?

Wow. Not coming here for just a day, and this thread moved 10 pages ahead.
10 pages where we talked about nothing and everything at the same time... Yeah, this thread moves too fast sometimes.

Ridley could be an incredible and awesome character if made properly. He can quite easily be one of the most unique and interesting characters in the game. Especially if they go ahead and do what I said and make him a character who specializes in Aerial Dominance by giving him Aerial Smash Attacks. Oh man, even more so if ALL characters get Air Dashes and High Jumps, Ridley could be an awesome way to introduce a stronger aerial flair to the game. Especially in Smash Bros where his large size makes it the perfect balance for his strengths, where in HP based fighters he'd just be a flying target.

Giygas > Ridley

As far as nightmare fuel goes. They both are ugly aliens though. :0

Swords have always been the 'hero's weapon' in RPGs. So to me it comes as no surprise.

"When freaky aliens give you lemons, make freaky alien lemonade!"

Let's list aliens from Nintendo games. They could be characters, bosses or ATs, so we're still on topic, right?

Ridley - very requested to be a playable character. Metroid longs for more representation and much like Bowser and Ganon are to Mario and Zelda, Ridley is to Metroid.
Metroid - Assist Trophy in Brawl. Could return for the same role.
Giygas - could be a good boss with a healthy dose of Nightmare Fuel.
The Aurum - from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Could be enemies in Adventure Mode.
Shroobs - from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. See above.
The Aliens from Majora's Mask - those that try to steal Romani Ranch's cows, remember?
Deoxys, Elgyem and Beheeyem - explicitely stated or at least implied to be alien Pokémon. Deoxys is already a Poké Ball in Brawl.

Further explanation and enlightenment on the matter could be provided by our friend:

If you say it like that, you probably don't.

I've been pretty grumpy lately. Maybe I should change my avatar to reflect that.
Here you go:

Yeah, but it makes you wonder WHY?

Why swords? And why can't people get creative every once in a while. Kamen Rider does it, the hero's weapon does change from time to time, one time he had a Drum as a weapon, now that's unique. There are many other weapons out there that can be heroic and are still plenty cool aside from the Sword/Buster Sword/Katana.

I mean you have Nunchaku, Tonfas, Lances, Bo Staffs, Axes, Bows, the list goes on...

I have yet to know about a RPG where the main hero DOESN'T use sword.

This whole cliché is why we can't get much variety from FE reps. But still, even different sword users can use a different style of swordplay.

In fact, I'd rather have the Avatar from Awakening, since he/she equally uses magic and swords alike, so it would be possible to have a hybrid moveset.

Y'know, I watched the entire Game Grumps channel and honestly I never felt the least bit grumpy.

Also, to all you fighting game nerds, how many characters out there have a playstyle that involve "charging up" some kind of ability that... eh... augments? their normal moves. I don't know much, but Hakan comes to mind. I DO know, that if I ever made a character for a fighting game, they would have a metal motif and would fight by heating up their metal ...PARTS to augment their power or have a secondary burning effect or WHATEVER I DON'T CARE IT WOULD JUST LOOK SO COOL.

Also if I ever made an RPG, it would follow the whole "chosen hero must wield this sword" thing except the chosen hero must literally wield that dang sword AT ALL TIMES HE CANNOT UNGRIP IT and it would get on everybody's nerves and it would probably break at some point because it's an old cheap-ass sword what do you expect and he'd probably end up cutting off his arm just to get rid of it.

Tsubaki, Order Sol, Chin Gentsai, and Shun Di. Jam to a certain extent along with BlazBlue's Makoto to a certain extent.

Kuma beat me to it, there's a whole lot. In fact, there are two variations of the power up gimmick. I made an entire thread dedicated to exploring the different 'archetypes' in fighters. Check it out, it's called "Character Archetypes in Fighting Games" or something like that. There's a number of neat ideas in rthat thread.

You're forgetting that Sakurai had nothing to do with KRTDL, so I highly doubt he's going to have the same attachment towards BWD than the other three characters. If anything, there in lies more of a knock against BWD than the former.

The "five characters causing dissent" thing is just silly. As long as Mewtwo, Ridley, King K. Rool, Megaman, Roy, Isaac and/or Shulk are playable, hardly anyone is really going to care if 11.11% of the roster are "Sakurai's babies." If you want to see dissent, try any number of third party characters bar Megaman or the return of Sonic/Snake.

The only reason we got two Kirby reps in Brawl is because Dedede was already planned for Melee, and both Dedede and Meta Knight had insane support. I don't think history will be repeating itself this time around. Bandana Dee has nowhere near the amount of support those two had.
Sakurai does not need character support to go through with a character. Roy, Ice Climbers, R.O.B, Mr. Game and Watch, Solid Snake, Young Link and Dr. Mario have all but disproved that notion.

Now the idea of a Spear user is an interesting one, however, in the form of Bandana Dee I think it's just as unlikely as Ephriam getting in, simply because Bandana Dee isn't very important or iconic. Unless you can validate your statement with information, don't claim a majority will see BWD as the "generic enemy." I can just as easily sit here and say that a majority of players will simply see him as that bandanna guy from that Kirby Wii game.

Also, in regard to Yoshi and Toad, Yoshi has had a nice number of "Yoshi" games, and Toad, well I'm also a bit hesitant to support him for similar reasons as BD and because I'd much rather see Paper Mario.
Which is why I did not bring up Yoshi, but Pokémon (bar Mewtwo).

Does Bandana Dee have an actual fan base?
Because all I heard is that he was playable in Kirby's Return to Dreamland and appeared in Kirby Super Star, and that he should be playable because of it.

He has his supporters. Not saying it is the largest base in the world, but they exist. Honestly I've run into more people outside of the forums that are more favorable to him. Then again, most casual players I run into only ask for characters from Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic or other various third party series.

Edit: I just noticed I'm a year old on the Internet. That's suprising that it's been that long. A big Oasis cake for me.

I have made it clear that I want Prince Fluff as my Kirby character, mostly because I want the yarn moveset. Prefer him over Knuckle Joe or Waddle Dee. Even Epic Yarn Kirby would be great (in fact the two should be alt costumes).

I am getting married in August. Find the right one. Most girls are nuts, especially the ones that are easy to get if you know what I mean. Get the harder girls because they are more relationship-friendly. Get a girl that treats you right is very rewarding.

For your info she does play Smash with me, usually as Metaknight.

Actually, I was asking for any weapon users who use swords. My mistake for not making it clearer.

Anyway, this design is so much better than the DLC one.
I disagree. She seems like a boring character. UNTIL I saw her DLC costume
