Kiddy would be the next viable team-member for Dixie, if Diddy is deemed too popular as you believe.
Though i doubt Kiddy's inclusion into the fray due to his obscurity. Does he at least have a sticker or trophy in any of the previous Smash games? if not, i doubt he'll be acknowledge for SSB4. I'm not ruling him out because i would love to see this mechanic, but the chances are pretty low.

I really do love that Geno is consistantly on par with Pac Man in my poll.

Sad to see Dixie get so little love. She's falling behind even Krystal and Goroh. Black Shadow is also catching up to her. Not that it matters if she's falling behind any of these characters. It's sort of like, being the poorest person at a millionaires convention. She's still one of the top candidates. All the characters I picked are. (Still wish I had Starfy, Masked Man, Dillon, Zael, Layton and a few others on there though)

The trollface has been irrelevant for years and it's a stupid Le Reddit tier meme. It's been more overused and beaten than a cheap prostitute in the Bourbon district of New Orleans. Personally I was glad to see it go in hopes that people would wisen up and learn to pick up on irony without having to tag your posts with a redundant meme...

Lucina seems more popular than Chrom, but that may just be because of "b00bz", regardless, the reason why support is so low for her among the Smash Bros. fanbase is that she is practically a genderswap version of Marth. With Marth's latest design, he looks almost the same as Lucina with the exception of having shorter hair.

Yeah, I have no idea why Dixie Kong is doing as poorly as she is. I think its mostly because her last important role in a game was in 1997, and many of the people who grew up on the DKC trilogy may not be on game forums anymore. By comparison, K. Rool's last very important role in a game was in late 1999 for the N64, he also served as the main antagonist for Paon's three DK games (though those did not sell well).

I do think Dixie Kong is basically the third most wanted female newcomer for Smash 4, and that she will receive a popularity boost once K. Rool is confirmed, though I am a bit perplexed why there is not more interest in her.

Lucina could possibly make it as a second Awakening rep, and have her as the fourth character instead of Roy. But I'd really wanna see a good moveset for her before I'd actually want her over Roy.

I think Chrono was more referring to the fact that Lucina is female, which for some automatically makes her a more interesting or more likely choice than Chrom.

Oh yeah, if K. Rool is added, all the DK support will move to her. The Super Nintendo Generation (Last time Dixie was an important character) is a bit older now, and the N64 Generation (Last time K. Rool was an important character) sort of rules any Nintendo forum. Heck, Gamecube generation is even starting to show up more and more. Depending on what part of your life you consider someone becomes part of a certain generation, you could argue I'm a Gamecube generation. (Some of my first memories are playing SNES, I was a child and played N64, and a Preteen when I played Gamecube)

Smash also educates a lot of younger gamers about past characters with trophies. It's where I first heard of Meta Knight and Pit

Yeah, I talked about the "female Fire Emblem character bandwagon" before in the past. Right now, they seemed divided on who their next "waifu" should be due to FE13 (female My Unit, Lucina, or Anna), the plurality of it seems to be going to Anna though.

Well Sluggers is only 3-4 years old I believe. It has Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Tiny Kong, Funky Kong, King K. Rool, and the Kremlins.

Not to mention Kremlins are still the goal keepers in Mario Strikers.

Sluggers did pretty well for Wii so nothing to sneeze at.

This, plus the fact that they will tower over the vast majority of potential newcomers even more than they already do once this E3 passes and, say, Ridley, Little Mac, Palutena, Takamaru and Megaman are confirmed.

Yep. I'll like Lyn, no matter how much I hear her all the bull**** about her popular only because of bewbs and being just for american audience. That's it.

Judging by the source about the old Famitsu articles where Sakurai talks about non-secret Newcomers as well as Snake and Sonic, it sounds to me (by what I'm translating) that when the Diddy/Dixie tag team (said to be able to "instantly swap" each other by touching, so I assume it was a system where they would switch off attacks and perform Combo Attacks with Specials on top of tagging each other in and out manually like in the Country games) had to be cut in various ways, he chose to keep Diddy Kong alone because he was too popular to not include and because he could be made interesting alone (I'm guessing Dixie couldn't to him).
To me, that does not really sound good for Dixie unless he wants to revist the tag team idea with someone like Kiddy.

I'm still of the opinion that Megaman X would be the best fit in Super Smash Bros. It would be ironic that after years of begging Capcom for X to make his appearance in Marvel Vs. Capcom, he becomes playable in Super Smash Bros. Still, I believe Megaman X has a lot more to offer than the little blue boy in terms of playstyle (go watch some clips of Project X Zone if you disagree). No one really has to grasp at straws to adapt X to the Super Smash Bros. gameplay. Wall jumping? Check. Air dashing? Check. Giga Attack? Check. Plus, how can you argue with these tracks?

In the end, I'm almost certain Nintendo and Capcom will go with the safe bet in the original, sadly.

I'd be all for Mega Man X's inclusion. Even Legend and EXE would be fine with me.

One thing they could do is to use the original version but take elements from other versions of Mega Man and as others have said, use X, Legend, EXE, and Starforce as costumes. Probably won't happen, but it'd be nice if Sakurai went the extra length to do so.
