From what I've heard her personality's kinda... something of a creepy + sadistic. (-l^l-);
And that's a turn-off to me. (-´^`-)
Should start calling you Horsetail from now on, you're not all that young anymore.

But yeah, that aside, I do have a... "liking" for Japanese things. I'm not full on weeaboo where I think Japan and Japanese things are better than everything else like Ken-Sama here:

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ken-sama

but Japanese culture does grab my attention. I dunno, I've sorta grown up around it, and strikes me as exotic in nature. I suppose it's the same way Europeans see Latin American culture...
The Internet never ceases to amaze me.

I do have a liking for different cultures and like to know about other countries and such. Overall, I am simply interested in knowing stuff, for the sake of knowledge itself, for the pleasure of knowing many things about the world, be it science, history, art and so on...

I've been this kind of person since very young, in fact.

Regardless of their last appearance, Dixie and K.Rool are still relevant to the DKC series as a whole.
If they're still being requested by enough people then their "relevancy" doesn't matter. Pit went over a decade without an appearance, yet people supported him to be playable -- and he was. Don't over complicate things.

Relevancy is such a bull argument anyway. I mean, simply having recent publicity should not be a bases to work off of. Super Smash Bros. is not a game for promotion, it's a game designed to bring together varies Nintendo faces to beat each other up. Shoveling in a bunch of nobodies because of some sort of new game is not the way to go.

Relevancy matters in some points. Just not for retro characters, and characters who are relevant throughout the series as a whole.

Hence why I support King K.Rool, Dixie and Isaac, and want Sheik out for Impa.

I find it hilarious. But I guess that is just a side effect of watching The Boondocks. I'm just that kind of ni-- black guy that finds humor in it all.

On topic: the relevancy argument was something i could never relate to...

That's why your arguments sound so compelling. :smirk:

Honestly, I support characters I like, not regarding their relevancy or whatever. That's why you don't see me shoving characters down the others' throats.

Currently I support the following characters: Ghirahim, Black Knight, Bowser Jr. / Shadow Mario, Dark Pit, Palutena, Anna, Champion Cynthia, Takamaru, Mewtwo, Roy, Ridley, K. Rool, among some others.

Do I expect them all in SSB4? Hell no. But, I'll be happy if some of them appear. I'm not putting my expectations high and merely consider them as possibilities, regardless of their chances. That's probabilities for ya. ;)

Why do I support them? Because I like them. Even if some are from games I never played, I've likened to the characters and I'm curious at what moves they could pull off.

Relevancy has typically been nothing but bull**** arguments filled with double standards.

Yeah well, I'm a misunderstood dude. :smirk:

Yet, I have my reasons. And I usually state them well enough.

Ahh well Moon, if you're black that changes stuff of coarse. Boondocks is a great show btw!

Also the fact that retro characters alone crap all over the relevancy argument tells me relevance is not as strong as some people think. Don't even pull the "B-but retro characters are different!" thing ether, because that's some bull double standard stuff. A character is still a character regardless on how you view it.

I think popularity is the only thing that truly matters. It's the only thing we can rely on at least.

Well, think what you want to think. But in the end, the retro character additions are likely gonna be irrelevant as ****, while most excisting franchise characters will have the most top notch character choices in terms of relevancy and popularity. And that's very likely not gonna change now. Unless you can find a relevant retro character? :smirk:

Not really, as his series as a whole still hasn't been revived since the original NES game.

"Relevance" is such a flimsy criticism at this point in the pre-SSB4 speculation scene. It has become a cop-out talking point for users looking for a quick way to demean a character they dislike and have people who don't know better believe them.

I could see the term being used sensibly in regard to characters who would only ever get in by being recent, like Zoroark, but as of now, people use it way too flippantly for my taste: "Bowser Jr. isn't in NSMB2! No chance for Smash! ...But wait, he's back in NSMBU! Shoo-in!"

There we go again with double standards. "He doesn't count as relevant because he hasn't had a new GAME, hurr durr."

Doesn't matter. Relevancy is relevancy. Takamaru, for all intents and purposes is an old character with relevancy.
Otherwise, characters like Foreman Spike are relevant just because the Mario series is a relevant series.
If you have to make up an excuse in why that doesn't work, it's a double standard.

So in summation, there are relevant characters and relevant series. They are not one and the same.
Takamaru is rather relevant, but Murasame Castle, the series he comes from, hasn't been relevant.
The Mario series is obviously relevant, but Foreman Spike, an old character not seen in at least a decade, is an irrelevant character.

The word has just been taken out of proportion by dumb ****. It's nothing new, just look at the word election. :troll:

Foreman Spike is just about as relevant as Sheik is these days lol

I posted a response to you Yesterday Vann, but for some reason it appears to have been removed. Can any mods answer as to why?

Anyway, the gist was...

Good post and welcome back to the boards!

Good reasoning, very realistic and more importantly similar to mine :chuckle:

The things I disagreed with were:
- Having characters exclusive to WiiU or 3DS. Won't happen given the amount of time, effort and money it takes to create and balance a character. If they invest all of those things into creating a character they will not omit them from any console.

- Girahim. Zaant didn't make Brawl and I think Girahim is in the same situation.
Sakurai has resisted the temptation to include any new characters in modern established franchises unless they make appearances in at least a few different games.
Ike and Lucario would be the closest exceptions to this. But both made it into at least 2 games and neither have recurring characters from the newest generation games so their hands were forced.

I was going to bring up Wart in my post, but Foreman Spike is a close enough example to make the same, valid point.

Mario Kart DS with the Gold-digger car perhaps? Though that's a loose cameo. I'm sure Sheik will cameo in Smash 4 to, no doubt. :smirk:

I think it depends on the context.

If a good argument is provided it can be a compelling reason. Hence why Micaiah and Waluigi are poor contenders for Smash and why Vaati has such low support, because otherwise, then Zant, Saria, and Sylux for Smash Bros 4 (not that I support them but I'm giving an example).

However, lately it's become:
Character I like=relevant
Character I don't like=irrelevant

So, the reason hold less water than it used to.

Like how Geno is more relevant than Takamaru because he's awesome?

I still think for some spefiic series, and mainly Fire Emblem and Zelda, that relevance plays a bigger role than most other series. If only slightly.

Even Psycho admits this, which is a pretty cool thing. As God forbids what will happen to people here if they give up hope for the character they want in most.

As said before this is just one of the many dumb-assery phases that comes with pre-SSB installment speculation scene. It will get worse post E3 and as the release date approaches. So brace yoursleves...winterhold.....is coming
