I'm one of two people on this planet that doesn't feel enthusiastic for Mewtwo. Manly is the other one.

No lie. I watched that $h!t at least once a week until brawls release.
October 9th, 2007. Never forget.
Look at the roster for the latest arcade Mario Kart:

Pac-Man is using his design from the upcoming cartoon (which premieres later this year).
I think IF Pac-Man is going to be in Smash 4, he will be shown at E3 2013 due to the cartoon that is coming out later this year, as well as all the merchandise they are making to coincide with it.
On a sidenote, notice how Toad is there and not Waluigi.
Mewtwo never dominated the character polls prior to Melee's release (at least in the West) like he does now. There was a lot of people who wanted him in sure, but there were several other Pokemon that got a lot of requests as well (Charizard (at least until July 2001 when he was de-confirmed), Meowth, Heracross). I can't really remember how much more wanted Mewtwo was relative to those other Pokemon characters though.Maybe Chrono can elaborate, but I wonder whether Mewtwo was more universally wanted before Melee or now...
Add me to that listI'm one of two people on this planet that doesn't feel enthusiastic for Mewtwo. Manly is the other one.
I'm not excited for Mewtwo really, simply because... I'm sure if he's added he won't be changed too much from Melee. I play Melee a couple times a week, and whenever I try to play as Mewtwo I usually stop. The coolness doesn't outweigh the awful gameplay. He plays so quirky, and most of his moves won't be useful on a player that has a high enough skill level. Confusion and telekinesis are not good. Give him Psychic and like, make telekinesis expand further. Or if you keep confusion, at least make it like Jiggs' rest. Hard to use, but worth it when it works. Make it scramble the opponents buttons for 15 seconds or something.I'm one of two people on this planet that doesn't feel enthusiastic for Mewtwo. Manly is the other one.
Funny thing is, I didn't even know Pikachu and Sonic were video game characters until a couple months after I started watching their respective cartoons.Children are going to know him from the new cartoon.
Yah Mona! Honestly, if Mona gets added in for the Wario series & Waluigi gets added to the Mario series, it'll complete everything Wario's games/personalities need in my opinionMona [WarioWare] 71
Hey, she isn't a Wario Land character.
No worries.I don't mean to be a jerk, but weren't you just a month or so ago saying that his only shot at getting in would be DLC?
It's ironic because I made a Mewtwo-inspired character for the OC challenge. It's not that Mewtwo's concept isn't original or barren of potential. Quite the opposite, the concept of the haracter inspires me a lot, but Mewtwo's execution is Smash Bros is bad, and it's not a Pokemon I particularly care about. I'd rather see someone like ArkSys or Capcom explore the concept of a Psychic character in one of their fighters than see Mewtwo in Smash.Exactly why I don't feel enthusiastic for Mewtwo. His moves and attributes are pretty bad, which to me doesn't exactly build me confidence. I mean, even buffing wouldn't be enough to make it worth the effort.
I guess I'm both blind and stubborn. Now that he's confirmed only the blind and stubborn would deny his shot at getting in.
There's just nothing standing in his way man... Zoroark can't even compare, and Gen 6 is like Gen 5 in the sense that it's breaking patterns again to reinvent itself. Genesect is boring. So our last choice for a realistic Pokemon newcomer is Mewtwo. The fact that Gamefreak is on board with getting his name heard again also promotes this notion.I guess I'm both blind and stubborn.
fixed for ya thank me laterEither of these would be me if MEWTWO get announced.
Especially the bolded ones
This is the idea that I've been pushing for for ages. But there are some people against it for some reason. It could do what you said, but also Partner moves a-la Banjo Kazooie with another input. You remember how you could carry your partner starting DKC2?In my opinion Dixie should be added to Diddy and make an Ice Climbers-like character. The difference is that you can switch between the two of them with the usual down+B and have to different movesets based on which character you're controlling. Like for example the Up+B of Diddy stays the same with the difference that Dixie grabs his legs (or tail? or something else? ). The Up+B of Dixie though is similar to Donkey Kong and makes use of her hair, with Diddy that grabs her instead.
Do you think this could work?
I'd say that lucario benefited from this the mostNo worries.
A month ago Mewtwo wasn't confirmed to star in the Pokemon movie. Only speculated to show up. Now that he's confirmed only the blind and stubborn would deny his shot at getting in.
Also, the announcement of Gen 6 destroyed any chances Zoroark and Genesect had of getting in, and the fact that we still have no starchild and Mewtwo is being promoted has only helped Mewtwo.
Mainly it's because Diddy Kong is already a very potent independent character, and the proposition of forcing a gimmick not needed feels kind of cheap. This is the idea that I've been pushing for for ages. But there are some people against it for some reason.
I think Diddy has the potential to be a stand alone character. I did however, make a moveset for Dixe and Kiddy Kong:This is the idea that I've been pushing for for ages. Well then, how about completely re-inventing both characters as a totally NEW character Duo? The Diddy from Brawl can stay in Brawl, but the Diddy we get in Smash 4 is a new one designed to flow with Dixie? One that harks back to DKC2 and the 90's SNES era of gaming where DKC and DKC2 were the prime of platformers. With a bit of Banjo-Kazooie inspired partner moves here and there...Mainly it's because Diddy Kong is already a very potent independent character, and the proposition of forcing a gimmick not needed feels kind of cheap.
Yeah even if I don't know how that could be implemented in the moveset I'm thinking. I basically imagine the unplayed character following the played one around, maybe helping him/her with the grapple. You know, american style, Diddy grabs another character while Dixie punches him lol. It's not something like Ice Climbers which basically attack twice at the same moment. Banjo-Kazooie is a little different since they're basically one character, gameplay-wise I mean, and they would work similar to Jak & Daxter or Ratchet & Clank in PSABR if you ask me.This is the idea that I've been pushing for for ages. But there are some people against it for some reason. It could do what you said, but also Partner moves a-la Banjo Kazooie with another input. I believe the concept is unique enough to set them apart. Unfortunately, Dixie alone has enough competition with K. Rool for the priority DK series rep.I don't really care for the DK series but I think this Dixie/Kiddy character would be really cool, like a blend of ICs and Sheilda.
This is true. But, with Sakurai wanting to focus on balance rather than filling the roster up with as much characters as possible. We know that most of the characters we suggest will most likely not make the cut. This is why you see many people looking for patterns, digging up old interviews (and probably outdated ones too.) with Sakurai to look for some insight as to what characters have a better chance than others. You know, what is and isn't deserving is pretty suggestive between people. It's basically one big opinion, and as such it can never be agreed on no matter what conclusion we come to.
Am I a hidden character? Or was I killed off for Story purposes?Made this for kicks. I got lazy and didn't make it Brawl size, its 64 sized. Surry >.< Ill make a Brawl sized one soon though~
~Super Smash Spec 64~
I think the duo would be interesting, but it's best left for characters who NEED each other. I mean, Plusle & Minun for example. But a Dixie/Kiddy team up would be cool. What about and Eirika Ephraim duo? She uses a sword (looks like a fencing sword) and he uses a lance. Would be a cool duo IMO. I think the idea of a duo is just really hard to make work in Smash effectively though. Which is why Dixie/Diddy was scrapped. If we had to get Dixie as part of a duo character, I'd much rather she be with Kiddy, who, unlike Dixie herself, needs a to piggyback off of a more popular character to appear in Smash. Ideally, we'd leave that silly mechanic alone, since it comes at the price of Diddy and/or Dixie's individuality.
They won't be nearly as broken thanks to Namco. Also, I was thinking more of a tag team. That's a new mechanic, kind of. Shelda meets ICsI think the duo thing should be left to the Ice Climbers. We only have enough room for so many broken characters thank you very much.
Ahh, I see. So I'll be in the sequel, aka the BEST version. Sounds good as long as I'm not Pichu.Hey, you put me in Fox's spot. Freakin' awesome.
@Manly
That's more or less the original "speculators" from day 1 (I was not pleased with Brawl for entirely different reasons than today).
