3rd Parties:

-Sonic
-Travis Touchdown
-Mega-Man
-Pac-Man

And if there is a fifth:

-Simon Belmont

4 very recognizable characters and 1 on his way to getting more popular (especially since the series is continuing on the Wii U)

I will say that character should be an important component for characters, since it shows that people actually care about whoever. If people simply expect stuff with a heavy sigh, it won't have any inspiration and it won't leave an impression. As such it makes sense why we should anticipate the big picture first and foremost. Of course it's not the definitive thing as shown in the past, but it's definitely a factor.

Mega Man and Pac-Man seem like the obvious third-party newcomers and I'm fine with that. Smash could give them proper representation than what was done to them in Street Fighter X Tekken (even though I love those versions, especially Bad Box Art Mega Man).

If there is a 5th third party, It may come once again from Namco and would likely be Llyod from Tales of Sympathy or possibly Digdug another old school Namco character that would likely have a great moveset potential. Tekken has an outside chance but I don't see them fitting the world. I don't want a Tekken character but we will have to see.

Bomberman and Rayman would be another great options but I would be surprised if either are in the game honestly.

The only third party characters I see possible are:
Sonic
Snake
Megaman
Pacman
and possibly Rayman.

I would Take Simon over snake as a konami character

I was actually interessted in Castlevania, so I think I'm gonna try out Castlevania 4 for SNES to see whatsup.

Also, something which has maybe been overlooked: with Yoshi's Epic Yarn game coming out, I think it's very possible we might get a character from it in Smash.

For real? That's fuggin' hilarious. Looks like it's time I give Tingle's game a spin, it's on the DS right?
Both games (Rosy Rupeeland and Love Balloon Trip) are on the DS, however, only Rupeeland has been released in Europe, so unless you know Japanese, Love Balloon Trip's not going to be real fun to play.

That's the ideal list and you know it too.

Any translation patches for Love Balloon Trip? That sort of thing always helps.

EDIT:
Then again, I may just give it a run Raw, it'll help me improve my moonspeak. After all, I already ran Pokemon Black 2 in full Japanese, I'm sure a Tingle game has less dialogue.

I don't really care for KOS-MOS. Who is she? Would the average gamer know who she is? She looks like a generic anime girl from a sci-fi anime.

Like who? Said character didn't earn the honor to be playable in Smash. The least we might see is a stage from Yarn Yoshi.

Don't bet on that.

Just simply don't. :glare:
Why not? The character could always be restyled to regular graphics. If it's an unique new character with a big role, I'd want it in. It's now or never with Yoshi, as I don't think his series will get much more relevant. And Yoshi will only keep on appearing in Mario games ala Galaxy 2 and NSMB Wii.

Capcom - Megaman
Namco - KOS-MOS
Konami - Big Boss
Sega - Sonic
Rare - Banjo

That's the ideal list and you know it too.
Who is KOS-MOS? Otherwise, I agree. Big Boss also seems an awesome idea for a change in Snake. Especially since he's getting a 3DS game apperantly? Is he also just as important as Solid Snake in Metal Gear overall?

For you it might sound ideal, but to me it doesn't. You know, opinions and all that.

By the way, going on pure bias...

Capcom - Amaterasu
Konami - Simon Belmont
Namco - Taizo Hori
Sega - Sonic
Square Enix - Black Mage

You know what character I don't hear getting requested at all anymore? Chrono, from Chrono Trigger. What happened to those fans? Would've thought they gained more confidence after Chrono Trigger DS?

It came out in late 2008 / early 2009. DS is irrelevant now. :troll:

She's a badass robot chick from the Xenosaga games. Developed by Monolith Soft, and Published by Namco. She's been in 4 games that have been on Nintendo consoles. The Xenosaga remake on the DS. Two SRW game on the DS, and Project X Zone on the 3DS.

[COLLAPSE="KOS MOS"]
[/COLLAPSE]

She has a ton of varied and interesting moves:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4CNimXZ-Lc
-Beam Sabers
-Gattling Guns
-Missiles
-Beams-
-Electricity
-Mean Punces
Oh My....

Out of all the possible Namco reps, she's got the coolest movepool and has the most potential to make an interesting character. Also, her Dandere personality is unique enough for Smash, and could make for some hilarious interactions.

Big Boss, is technically the Central Character of the whole Metal Gear series barring (maybe) Rising. Everything that happens in those games revolves around him in one way or another, and all the recent Metal Gear Solid games are focusing on him since the Solid Snake Saga ended with MGS4. He already got a game on the 3DS with the Snake Eater remake, and imo he's miles more badass than Solid, who's already plenty awesome.

Also, he's based of off Che Guevara.

Because he's a very unrealistic choice. Most people aren't expecting an SE character, and those who are are usually asking for FF or DQ representation.

Square Enix as a whole is very picky with characters, and has always been.

Not that it's such a huge deal since we got Monolith Soft on our side, which is pretty much the successor of Squaresoft at this point. Seriously, Xenoblade is really awesome and I'd be disappointed if there were no references to it at all in the next Super Smash Bros. game. Also looking forward to "X" coming out.

I'd rather have Shulk over Cloud... at least Shulk is a blond RPG hero with a gigantic sword without a mentally insane fanbase.

This.

Do you guys think that we will get both Shulk and Isaac? Or just one?

We are not going to get Issac, let's just get that out of way before people become disappointed.

That character isn't even interesting anyway, so no big loss.

I want Isaac pretty badly though. :urg: Still do. Maybe always will...

Also, playing F-Zero SNES now, and damn. The music is great! Real overlooked franchise. Btw, I am of coarse playing as Captain Falcon. :falcon:

Oh and Big Boss is based of Che Guevara!? Holy **** I want him in now.

Have you played Peace Walker? The references are practically thrown in the player's face. I think they even make a direct comparison between the two several times in the game.

I never got into metal gear either. Though I heard things about convoluted story lines and long as hell cutscenes. That kind of turned me off from ever giving it a chance

Metal Gear games are not my cup of tea, but I do appreciate them for what they are. I have played them mind you, so I at least know several things about the series.

You really should. Quite easily some of the finest games in the video game industry. If you like a good compelling story with food for thought that can translate into real life and tons of philosophy that will rattle your brain, with fun and quirky gameplay and hilarious moments that don't take themselves too seriously Metal Gear is for you. The series as a whole is amazing and a true gem among the piles of mediocre games out there.

MGS4 is possibly the best entry point for newcomers, though there will be a lot you won't understand as far as the story goes. MGS4 is also the worst game in the series as far as story goes, but the best when it comes to game play.

Story:
MGS2
MGS1
MGS3
MGS PW
MG1&2
MGS4

Gameplay:
MGS4
MGS PW
MGS3
MGS2
MGS1
MG1&2

Ground Zeroes and Rising look amazing as well. I'm hyped for Rising.

Also, the themes and philosophy are what really sold the series for me. That ending in MGS2 was BRILLIANT. Say what you want but there has never been a game series as enthralling as MGS.

That whole deal with Meme, and what creates ideas. God, it was SOOOOO GOOD.

Here's an analysis someone did on it,
http://junkerhq.net/MGS2/Analysis.html

if you're into anime like Ghost in the Shell, or movies like The Matrix, MGS is right up your alley.

I don't normally say this about video games, but Metal Gear Solid 2 IS ART.

-Why should extended characters from the same franchise take priority over new faces from untapped franchises? As we've argued for Pokemon before, there are other ways if including worthy faces in the game with stages, items and assist trophies.
That'd be great if anybody actually said this here. I have not. I believe Tingle is a good choice as is. And technically, he has his own franchise, which is untapped. It's a new one unused in Smash. So even by your ideal of only going for new franchises over old ones, he would apply to that too.

And nobody, as long as he has his own series, he counts as a representative of that franchise. Yoshi and Wario represents their own franchises, not Mario. Which is a fact in Smash, and will continue to be. I want to see characters from old and new franchises as well. I do not believe either take priority over the other. The only ones I believe deserve priority are planned characters(no matter how silly they may be, I.E. Toon Sheik) or returners from the earlier games. Anybody else can come up after. They were already more deserving, as they were meant to be in the game.(and that's an objective version of deserving in the context of Smash, not actually subjective)

My hatred of Tingle aside, I really think a lot of people overstate his importance. Appearances =/= importance. If you want to talk importance in Zelda, the most important character not yet in there is Ghirahim. He is the only reason the rest of the series has continued. The role in the series is what can boost one's importance, and I have yet to see Tingle with a role that could have been done without. (Majora's made him kind of important from a gameplay standpoint, not so much story wise).

I can't argue the fact that he still has those two games. But two games for a character that hardly means anything doesn't automatically make him important.

I agree Tingle isn't important in the Zelda series. That's why we suggest Tingle gets his own icon, maybe a rupee, to emphasize that Tingle is representing his own series since he is, after all, important there. :troll:
