Who is to say they cannot be excited for each others games? They might've only spoken about characters with each other. It's not like they help each other creating their games togheter or something.

There must always be a poster Pokémon. Apart from the starters and legendaries, they always push certain Pokémon as promotion (Pichu for generation 2; Munchlax, Bonsly and Lucario for generation 4; Zoroark for generation 5)

I hope they give Rhydon an alternate evolution, which looks awesome and make that the postermon.

In this case, my number's still on Zoroark. Although, Sakurai COULD be playing tricks on us, but I'm going to bet in the former still.

Although from my experience in the Pre-Brawl days, I'm reminded about how people get worked up from the simplest thing. Keep caution, friends!

Maybe Sakurai already decided on a 5th gen Pokemon as a playable character and he's looking for Pokeball ideas from Pokemon X/Y at E3 2013?

No, there "must" not.

Out of all of those, only Pichu and Lucario can really be considered "poster" Pokemon, though Pichu didn't hit off until after its appearance in the Pikachu and Pichu short as well as its appearance in Melee. NOWADAYS, Pichu can be considered a "poster" Pokemon, but it has nothing to do with being one for the 2nd Generation as much as Pikachu is for the 1st. Both Pika and Pi are just simply promotable. Pikachu for being the mascot, Pichu for being a smaller, cuter version of the mascot.

Munchlax was promoted a lot yes, but more so for the fact that he was the earliest reveal for the 4th Generation and thus became well known. Bonsly wasn't really promoted that much, to be honest.

Zoroark was likely INTENDED to be one to replicate Lucario's success, but failed miserably to the point that Lucario managed to one up it as well as the Starters and Version Mascots being far more promoted than previous Gens over Zoroark.

With 6th Gen revealing its Starters and Version Mascots first, something that's never been done before, that lowers the chance that there will be a new "Lucario" for it.

Heaven forbid we try to make characters better. No, just cut them.

Subjective. I like Pikmin, and Olimar wasn't bad(just needed some polishing IMO).

Why?

Wow, this is dumb. Like, really dumb. It's almost like you know nothing about Fire Emblem or something.

Edit: Are you one of those people that thinks Fire Emlbem can only ever get 2 slots?
Pikmin is OK, it's just that Olimar was a bad character. Really, the way I see it is if Nintendo completely takes out Mewtwo, who was great in Melee, then they can take out Olimar.

Lucario isn't relevant anymore. He was one of there main Pokemon, I guess, that they were pushing for Gen 4. It's not Gen 4 anymore.

There CAN be multiple Fire Emblem characters, but Nintendo surely won't do it. Nintendo only puts a ton of playable characters from its big franchises, and since Fire Emblem isn't as big in America, they won't do it. It would be cool if they had a bunch of characters from their smaller franchises.

Hoenn starters because they're coming... eventually.

ROB because he's not exactly Nintendo character, just a toy or whatever. And I don't think they'll put him in for more then one game, he was kind of like a guest character or something. Sonic because who knows if Nintendo can get Sega to let them put Sonic back in. And if they can, put a different guest character instead, like Mega Man.

So whatever. You can have your opinion, I have mine. It's not like Nintendo actually reads your posts and will put in 50 Fire Emblem characters just because you said so.

This is quite funny as while Mewtwo has typically been relatively low on the tier list in Melee, Olimar has typically been high on the tier list for Brawl.
As much as I hate playing as Olimar since I can never play as him "right", I know full well that he is deadly in the right hands.

Lucario isn't relevant anymore. He was one of there main Pokemon, I guess, that they were pushing for Gen 4. It's not Gen 4 anymore.
I wasn't aware that a new Generation automatically makes older Pokemon less relevant. I mean, it's not like you can find the older Pokemon in the newer games, right?
Oh wait...
I also wasn't aware Lucario hasn't been promoted heavily for BW2, nor was in the anime just recently for the Unova Cup.
NOPE. I guess there being a Gen 6 means that Lucario is completely irrelevant since he will clearly be unobtainable in that too. Same with all of the other Pokemon in Smash; they are all irrelevant and must be replaced with new 6th Gen Pokemon.

You work as a CEO at Nintendo, now?

Hoenn starters because they're coming... eventually.
Show me your time machine that proves this. Until then, Hoenn Pokemon are irrelevant and have been for years. :troll: This is Gen 6, not Gen 3.

Didn't stop him from being in Brawl. And no, R.O.B. is not a guest. He's Nintendo regardless of him being hardware. By this logic, Game & Watch should have been axed in Brawl.
Also, Nintendo and Sega love money. Sonic in Smash means they will get money. They also have a crossover series together with Mario and Sonic that makes money as well. Sonic's going nowhere.

So whatever. You can have your opinion, I have mine. It's not like Nintendo actually reads your posts and will put in 50 Fire Emblem characters just because you said so.
You make your opinions off to be facts with heavily flawed reasoning. Also, no one said that there should be 50 Fire Emblem reps. Stupid exaggerations like that will get you eaten alive here.

My thoughts about what might happen with the Pokemon roster.

Likely veterans:
Pikachu
Mewtwo

Likely newcomers:
Pokemon Trainer Gold
Zoroark
6th gen Pokemon

Likely veterans to be added back in the last minute to buff the roster:
Jigglypuff
Pokemon Trainer Red
Lucario
Pichu

Likely newcomers to be added in the last minute to buff the roster:
Plusle & Minun

If we are getting a new Eeveelution, and it IS to be the "poster" Pokemon, I hope it's a Dragon type and is supposedly the "monarch" of Eeveelutions.

How bout mewtwo and gold be the only poke reps, I hate gen representation since its always limited.

:phone:
I agree.Basing the selections on gen doesn`t mean anything since it could just be a random coincidence that Lucario made it in Brawl but Mewtwo didn`t.

If the selection was so strict, Charizard and his buddies would have never made it in Brawl since they are gen 1 Pokemons.

pikachu-no explanation
jigglypuff-original 12
red- http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/26/charizard-3ds-xl-coming-soon-to-japan I really doubt sakurai would cut a character that is getting a 3ds, not to mention squirtle is popular
mewtwo- most requested character world wide
lucario- still getting a lot of promotion bw2 and the anime

At this point, the Pokemon situation as a whole is a bunch of hogwash.
Not entirely. We got Zoroark who is the only viable candidate as a playable character from Gen 5, and a lot of Pokémon we have never seen before.
Still not as bad as Fire Emblem though.
Well, Marth is a lock, Ike is a near-lock, and Roy and Krom are possibilities. That's it.

At least with Fire Emblem, we don't have any candidates we don't know about like with the Gen 6 Pokémon.
In this case, my number's still on Zoroark. Although, Sakurai COULD be playing tricks on us, but I'm going to bet in the former still.

Yeah, let's not jump the gun yet. Zoroark clearly is the only viable Gen 5 playable character, but we still have about 100 unknown Pokémon.

Don't forget Lyn. The potential Manly showed us really piqued my interest in her.
Her time has pretty much passed in Brawl, mostly because it came out so late after the release of Melee. There's a small chance of that happening, but it is very, very, very microscopic.
Owww!! E3 this year for every company is gonna demolish the last 2 E3's

Cant waittt seriouslyyyyyyyyyy

you can just tell how iwata was going on that he had buttloads of info but just purposly holding back to have a very strong E3!
Yeah, the ultimate winner is gonna be us gamers at E3 and the months and years to follow! :)

I don't think Lyn's odds against Roy are so bad. But yeah, bad enough probably. Still, she'd make for such a sexy addition...

She'll be playable in the new crossover FE game though, so no worries.

Who knows really? I mean, why was she the only FE character to be an assist trophy. Always found that strange when a more "logical" choice would've been Sheeda or Soren.

I think that for most people who have only dabbled in the FE series, Lyn is the most iconic, outisde of Ike and Marth and Roy of course. But that's just due to smash appearances.

Nah, Lyn was the most recent (aside from Miciaiah and the Sacred Stones twins), easily the most popular character, and the 1st "real" Western Fire Emblem character introduced.
They could make the camera less static, like they did in Project M, where the camera zooms in and out more - it gives the battles a much more intense feeling.
I'm having trouble envisioning "more interaction between characters". Could you explain what you imagine at this point?
1. The Project M 1 vs. 1 camera is excellent for that (a few problems with custom stages aside).
2. Things like facial expressions and perhaps even conversations or trash talking/casual banter between characters in matches would be epic (if kept to a minimal).
I want Isaac so badly in Smash. Too bad it probably won't happen... :/
It probably won't happen, but there's still a chance he could be playable. Hopefully, regardless of how he appears, there is an option to see him with... DAT BEARDDDD!!! :awesome:

Smash needs more beardz anyway, that alone should warrant his inclusion...And Toon Link should totally grow some facial hair.
