I had never even heard of the series that Saki and Isa are from until Brawl. And I haven't heard anything about them since. What's that say about what they mean to Nintendo? Now Golden Sun I could understand. Sort of. Xenoblade as well.

:phone:
Well Sin & Punishment 2 came out on the Wii in 2009/2010.

It was the return of the series and it was the localization gen for it as well.

Smash Bros needs to expand on the franchises repped. Those four being some of the top ones still needing it.
Yeah, but considering this roster will probably not include as many newcomers as Brawl's did, and some characters from already repped series are more "deserving" than some of the new series (not all, but some), it stands to reason that expecting more new series than Brawl added (6, only 2 of which were non-3rd party non-retro) is unrealistic, even if their "need" to be included is debatable.

To expect all newcomers from currently repped franchises sets someone up for disappointment as well. There are many other franchises from Nintendo as well.
No one is expecting all the newcomers will be made up from existing series, that's not what I said. All I said is expecting a GS, S&P, and Xenoblade rep along with like Little Mac, at least one retro character, and at least one 3rd party is setting themselves up for disappointment, with the fact that this roster almost definitely will have fewer newcomers than Brawl, like I said.

EDIT: Ooh, post 10000. ^_^
It's amazing how we've turned so little into so much. ;)

Well there is no specific information to say they won;t include quite the amount of newcomers, even if Sakurai said that. The game is in development and he could change his mind. it is not like he hasn't said something and then changed it up in the past.

5 new series (Xeno, GS, S&P, PO, and Wii) alongside Ghirahim, Bowser Jr, 2nd Gen Trainer, 3rd parties, retros, etc is not really a lot.

Sin and punishment fans think of saki, golden sun fans think of issac and xenoblade fans think of shulk, that's what most people think of when those series are brought up.

:phone:
For Shulk? Yes
For Isaac? Pretty much but he will be his Dark Dawn self
For Saki? I believe most people know him because of Smash, not S&P (internationally speaking)

Shulk will probably be the only one to get in out of these. Him or the new guy, and Little Mac. Those two will be the only new series reps I'm predicting.

I see 5 new series (Xenoblade, Punchout, Sin & Punishment, Golden Sun, and Wii)

That is reasonable and realistic

I know how you feel. :(
It seems like Isaac is always just below the point of inclusion. Like if only a few more (non-semi clone or veteran) characters were to be added, he'd be one of them. In any case, that's how it seemed for Brawl, to me at least. Hopefully he gets in this time, but if not I think he just would've missed the boat again. Oh well. :ohwell:

We're quite a bunch yeah. Though, nearly not as bad as Gay***s. I actually like it here.
Yeah, I like it much better here too.

You guys are awesome. :troll:;)

This. All of this. :awesome:

First of all, even if they aren't among the characters you've somehow unarguably convinced yourself will get into SSB4, leaving out ones such as Ridley, K. Rool, and Mewtwo on a list like this is ridiculous. They have better chances than any character or series you've listed here.

Looking at how many new series were added in the past (in Melee 3 - and 4/14 newcomers, in Brawl 6 - 6/18 newcomers) usually a round a third. Let's assume, for argument's sake, there are 15 newcomers in SSB4 (including veterans). Now, this isn't exactly a pattern, and it is something that technically could change, as Sakurai bases inclusion on individual merit, but just looking at previous rosters, thinking that we'll get more than around a third (4-6) including retros and third-parties is, again, setting yourself up for disappointment. Especially with existing series still having many valid characters.

Well he has in the past, so who really knows? None of us do.
No one will take your opinion seriously with this kind of mentality.

It was an import, not a translation. The original game was already in English.
The dialogue was in English, but some parts (like the menus and credits) were translated. It was a bit of both.

I see 5 new series (Xenoblade, Punchout, Sin & Punishment, Golden Sun, and Wii)

Yeah, expecting 5 series is reasonable, but you've left out retros (which we usually get two of) and 3rd-parties (which it's likely we'll get at least one of).

In total, expecting at least 8 new series is not reasonable or realistic. You can't just pick and choose what a "new series" constitutes.

Takamaru would most certainly be one of the retros.

And Isaac (or Matthew) as one of the new series represented.

As for that last part........eh..........:awesome:

Found this on Gonintendo:

The following information comes from Masahiro Sakurai's Twitter account...

- announcements like Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS would usually be accompanied by a trailer, but the team wanted to keep gamers patient while waiting for E3
- this is why they put out just a limited announcement
- Sakurai says E3 will come with a much better announcement
- the plan is to show off both the Wii U and 3DS versions at E3

Also worth noting, Sakurai exchanged tweets with Pokemon director Junichi Masada. The pair discussed how they're looking forward to seeing/hearing more about each other's games (Smash Bros. and Pokemon X/Y) at E3.
http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=194811

Two things:

1: We're getting a trailer peeps. Not sure why any of you expected otherwise.

2: Playable 6th Generation Pokémon isn't probably not in the cards. If Sakurai knows as much as you or I do, then I really don't think Game Freak is pressuring him to go there right now. We'll probably get some content from Pokémon X and Y in the form of music or collectibles -- if not from launch, then through DLC -- but that will probably be the utter most.

N3ON: Don't get downed yet. 1-2 retros and 3 new franchises at best. We can hope. (-lvl-);

Golden Sun, Xenoblade and Punch-Out (and Wii/Mii). Nazo No Murasame-Jo and who knows some other retro. Rhythm Heaven as the Animal Crossing-represented franchise.

Sakurai could've been shown a few of the characters and given details about how they'd work without actually seeing very much of the game. Or, like developers tend to do, they could be playing dumb. Of course, it's totally possible we won't get a Gen VI, but I don't think the possibility that we will should be counted out yet.

I think it's best stay corely at Gen 5, because Brawl went unbalanced with trying to give both 3rd Gen and 4th Gen love (and ended giving most to 4th Gen). And since 5th Gen was more emphasized this era before Smash, many would be sad man if they'd see 6th Gen getting more love instead.

Yeah, ofc I still think getting Isaac is possible, I was just saying if he wasn't included I think he'd have just missed the chance, and that expecting five new series in addition to retro and third-party is unrealistic. Believe me, I haven't given up hope on GS in Smash yet. ;)

Mewtwo vs Ridley is one of the most awesome fights I can think of actually.

N3ON totally get what you mean with Isaac missing the boat.

1. Better chances? Yes. Those not being included? Not guaranteed.

2. At least 1/4 or 1/3 of the newcomers could be new, not yet repped, franchises. This wouldn't exactly count retros or 3rd parties though. Most would be from franchises already there, not all would though. If it was 15 newcomers, about 6-7 could be newer franchises. That is not actually unreasonable when that list might include retros and 3rd parties.

3. I am just saying we are not sure what Sakurai is saying. It is true in the past he has changed his mind on stuff. So in the end we don't know what is going to happen. Some people are basing ideas off of the idea that the roster will not be a big upgrade to Brawl in terms of newcomers, which is what he said. But we can't really go off what is said, we have to go off what is actually done. In other words, nothing can really be said until after E3 when the game is shown off.

4. Ok

5. I was specifically talking about newer franchises, not including retros and third parties (who I view are each in their own rosters, retros and 3rd parties). New series are just those not yet represented. And there are some that do need it, like Xenoblade, Sin & Punishment, and Punchout.

It'd be quite a **** move to make GS miss the boat again. (-lAL-);

But gosh, showing out the 3DS version too now... I can't wait to see what they have in for us.

It's one thing to add a character already circulating and relatively popular (ie., Lucario and Pichu), it's quite another to spoon feed people a Pokémon no one knows anything about or is demanding. Sakurai's not that dumb, nor Game Freak that overbearing.

But we don't know what the end product will be like, so saying it is realistic or unrealistic can not yet be said.

And it is not like I am saying 10+ newcomer franchises not counting 3rd parties and retros. 5 is not really that much.

Also, wanna say that while Sakurai might not be so close with THE Pokemon staff, he's quite close with Intelligent Systems. Aka, the ones making Fire Emblem.

The rosters that cause the most conflict are Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Zelda

There are hardly any problems when discussing the likes of Metroid, Earthbound, Mario, Kirby, etc.
