you know a lot of people dont mind Wii-motes dude. personally ive gotten used to them to the point that i dont much care for other controllers. and the pro controller will probably be compatible. but realize that Wii-motes are cheaper than Pro controllers
No dude... I can't PLAY Wii-Mote, sure I can play wii-mote to have fun. But I can't play it competitively, and I know a lot of people who feel the same way. Sure you can replace the GCN remote with the Pro, no prob there, I can play Melee on a PS3 remote on my comp.

I can seriously say I wouldn't bother with Smash 4 if this is true, I'd take a look at the roster to see who got in, but the moment the game gets Wii-Mote only confirmed I'm officially dropping it. There's no point. Tripping was huge kick in the balls to the FGC, but if they totally casualize the game, I can guarantee a lot of people will skip out on it and play one of the other 30+ fighting games that are doing a better job appealing to us. I sure as hell ain't dropping 310+ Euros on a half-***** casual piece of **** like that.

I pray to God you're wrong on this one buddy, and that Nintendo implements it with the Pro-remote somehow...

It would be extremely stupid if Nintendo doesn't allow people to use the OTHER TWO controllers on the Wii U. (Tablet and Pro)

@ManlySpirit they have already began working on a sequel, so i'm not assuming. Its on IGN im pretty sure.
Smash 4 will be compatible with the pro controller, I can pretty much guarantee that. It will basically replace the gamecube controller

casual players dont care nearly as much as competetive players about what kind of controller is better. seriously i find it sad how some people walk into Gamestop and throw down $80 on a fancy controller just cause of its shape. the Pro controller will most likely be usable, but frankly i dont see myself throwing donw an extra $50 per controller when i already have 4 perfectly usable Wiimotes

Considering how Super Smash Bros. plays, a standard controller would be very necessary to give the player a natural feeling of control. I mean, the Wiimote does not work at all for a fighting game type thing. The Wiimote is fine for a game like Mario Kart, but not for a game like Super Smash Bros.

I always thought the Wiimote was kinda awkward for Super Smash Bros. Despite the fact that you can assign any input to the desired button via the Controls menu, the Wiimote just doesn't feel right no matter what you do. This is especially noticeable if you're trying more complex challenges that require good dexterity.

You're wrong, people drop $150 on an Arcade Stick because that's how the game is intended to be played and it makes specials and combos THAT much more fluid.

It's a hobby dude, I don't see how it's any different from someone dishing out $1000 on a gaming rig, or a fan of Card Games dishing out $20 on a rare card, or a fan of model airplanes spending $1000 on motors and parts, I could go on and on on this one. I spent 50 Euros on a drawing pad the other day because I like to draw and I want to get into digital art.

When you have a job and a hobby, spending money on it to enjoy it really isn't that far-fetched.

You have to accept that Smash is a fighting game and that people enjoy it as a competitive hobby. If Nintendo neglects them completely, there WILL be backlash in the sense that ALL of them will likely ignore the game.

EDIT: People aren't being picky dude, when you're serious about a hobby, you like to enjoy it at its best, not half-***** like you suggest.

i found the Wiimote just fine for Smash, people are just to picky
I've used it for Brawl and i didn't like it. It's not that people are too picky, it's that they don't like a controller.

I'm not a hardcore player and i hate using the Wii mote on Smash.

I personally think Snake will be replaced. I'm not sure who it would be but I am guessing it'd be Megaman but I wouldn't mind if third parties were removed 100%

I Agree and i dont wanna buy a pro pad either..and its beyond ******** that its £35+ Quid..
Should be £20-30

It does feel like a total waste of money..Hey if Nintendo ment it by WiiU will reach out to competetive/hardcore fans more then the Wii Did then i think the Pro pad should have been bundled in with the WiiU atleast in the Premium
bundle..and Sm4sh hopefully wont be ''As'' much of a N008y casual game that Brawl was hopefully...

But when i get a WiiU i still HAsss to get a pro pad sorry...I dont even wanna spend the money on one but i need it.

I sold my Wii years ago..i has no Wii Acceseries.

I'm pretty sure the Black version of the WiiU comes bundled with a Pro Remote, seeing a Smash Bros special bundled with one (if it's supported) is very likely. So don't fret.

Also,

Please don't type this... It's hard to read.

The occasional Meme usage and the like is cool and all, but proper grammar is generally encouraged in just about ALL internet communities. Also, LOLcats aren't hip and trendy anymore man.

And...

Nobody uses 1337-speak anymore man...

Let alone the word "Noob" and its derivatives, nowadays we use "casual."

Controlling Smash 4 shouldn't be a problem. Correct me I'm wrong, but there's going to be at least five different ways (Gamepad, Pro Controller, Wiimote, Wiimote + Nunchuk (for weird people), and Classic Controller) to play SSB4 (not counting all the third-party stuff). The casuals (or small minority of people who preferred the Wiimote) who used Wiimotes for Brawl can continue to use Wiimotes, and the rest can go out and buy Pro Controllers. :smirk:

It's not like going out to buy multiple controllers is a new thing.

a Namco Rep is far more justifiable than Megaman. honestly people give Megaman WAY to much credit. yes he's popular but i personally wont get my hopes up.
I don't see how.

The only Namco rep worth including is Pac-Man and even he has a lot of red tapes to cross if he is to become playable. That's not to say that Mega Man is a shoe-in by any means, but he is by far the best third-party choice we have.

Mega Man is extremely popular, so much so that Sakurai noted his oversea popularity pre-Melee. Not only that, he's heavily associated with Nintendo, is one of the franchises that made Capcom one of the most famous video game companies, and has interest from Capcom. Mega Man is the only third-party character not in yet that has popularity, importance, and interest from said third-party that isn't in yet, which is why if we get only get one third-party, it would most likely be him.

I think he's referring to how Namco essentially has front row seats for character inclusion due to them assisting with the development of Super Smash Bros. 4. Mega Man doesn't exactly have the same privilege despite being more popular.

exactly, popularity isnt everything when it comes to adding a character. there are legal hoops cause he is third party. admittedly it is Capcom who is pretty easy to work with when it comes to crossovers and guests. now we know Namco is involved in development, but i for one see it very likely that they also made a deal to add a character. it would be dumb if they didnt

Now I'm boring AND weird...oh well...:awesome:

But seriously, I actually sort of like the Nunchuk play. I don't know. It just seems pretty natural for some reason...

Seriously..i still dont see how even half the ammount of chars will get in even based on a Super Realistic Roster when theres its stated that the game wont expand much on chars compared to brawl..

I Seriously! think its gonna be like this.

2-4 Chars replaced and like 7-10 New chars
or
Everyone Stays and 5 Newcomers

I have nothing against using the Wiimote by itself, when I play Brawl in places without any GCN controllers I would use it, but personally I can't use the Nunchuk for the life of me. It just goes against how I've conditioned myself to play. :p

I once got beaten by somebody who used the Nunchuk though. It was a shameful day. :awesome::laugh:

lol it's true. I've tried to block out Brawl Taunts 3 though, so I forgot about that.

Always have that sense of quality over quantity if were regarding to newcomers. While it's true people would rather have more, it won't work out if it's padded on with cheap tape (case in point Super Smash Bros. Melee with the 6 clone characters). As such I believe a small number would be ideal to concentrate on the quality of the characters and the balance of the game as a whole.

WiiMote solo is still miles better than WiiMote+Nunchuck, I agree. Wiimote Nunchuck is incredibly awkward to me.

It's been ages since I watched Brawl Taunts and Nin10Doh!, but it's the first thing that came to mind, hahahaha. I watched this before ever hearing of 4chan, watching it now, it's become clear that a lot of people who contributed to it were 4channers, they never did make any more did they?

The Wii Remote and Nunchuck combo is how I played Brawl and it felt nice, I don't know what you are all talking about.

Edit: @JMW: Snake is a character that also "doesn't fit the Nintendo environment" but they censored him. Travis Touchdown is the exact same. He is that big popular new M-rated character in a franchise that is growing. One of the more popular 3rd party franchises on the Wii and it is to continue on the Wii U. The Beam Katana is a new sword style and his wrestling moves would make him unique (we have yet to get a wrestling based move-set).

If any NEW 3rd party gets in, it is him. Just imagine slashing people away with the beam katana to then hit them with a German Suplex or Tombstone.

On top of that, he also at least has a chance since his creator wants him in and Suda is friends with Sakurai.

Not to my knowledge, and I'm sure some would say that's for the best. ;):awesome:

It's only a matter of time before we get "SSB4 (whatever it ends up being called) Taunts" though. Oh joy.

Also just for clarification, but I think that the smaller number of newcomers can happen if the notion of there being less "big faces" is applied. I'm talking at least 11 in order to hit the 50 benchmark, presuming nobody gets cut.
