The new combatant is allowed to choose a stage for the next match, in which case the player who is currently in (aka their competitor) is allowed to switch character from the one they used previously.

If stages are chosen at random then character has to remain.

If it's the same as Genesis, you can CP a neutral stage when you come in and your opponent isn't allowed to switch characters, but you can also pick a cp stage and your opponent MAY change their character and then get CP'd character wise by you.
