Heya everyone!

Even though I've warmed up to the idea of Shantae I don't really want her in. It just she's only had one game so far. Even though she getting a newer one its not getting all that promoted by Nintendo at all like Splatoon is or other third parties getting promoted. Isn't her next game going multiplat? I just think the chances of an indie character getting in at all are really slim. The company WayFoward isn't all that close to Nintendo, I think if we're going to get third party from the Ballot Sakuari wants to stick to trend that he's created and just let it be classic characters. She would just seem so out of place compared to other third parties that we already have in Smash. If anything SHE would feel more out of place than Rayman.

@ PrettyIvyPearls22 PrettyIvyPearls22 She's had 3 games released, actually. Just thought I'd clear that up.
Guess I could go into this a bit more... You guys wouldn't mind right? ._.

AreJay is right-, well 99% right anyway. Half-Genie hero will bring the count up to four :D

"Isn't her next game going multiplat?" Actually no. The only game she has had so far that has been on a platform other than a Nintendo console, was Risky's Revenge, which received ports for iOS and Steam later (Though bare in mind it started in the DSiWare)

And her next game, Half-Genie Hero is gonna be a Wii U exclusive actually.

Wayforward has a fairly good history with Nintendo actually. A majority of the Shantae titles are exclusive to Nintendo Consoles. Her bad luck in her early years has just caused her to be needlessly standing halfway in the shadows.

As for classic characters? Gameboy Color is pretty classic to me... and just look at the Ice Climbers. They were probably more obscure than Shantae is, and Sakurai put them into Melee. (And they have a following now too XD)

As for out of place? That is somewhat subjective. Garomaster mentioned there are some that think "Rayman" would be out of place.. (and we know that's just silly). You know who else you could have argued would have been considered "out of place" before his introduction in Super Smash bros.? "Mr. Game & Watch"...

I bet if you took a time machine, back in time before melee's release and told people a character called Mr. Game & Watch was going to be a thing, a character based off the old Game & Watch handhelds..

They would probably laugh in your face actually. "Game and Watch is a 2D character. There is NO WAY he would get in."

"He is too obscure."

Similar arguments you see against some of today's desires actually.

And look at the little guy now. He is practically a staple in the game.. and many people use him

Didn't Xplains said before they didn't care about Rayman? I thought I heard that before...
It's just André and Ash, Derrick likes Rayman and wants him in the game.

That wasn't my point though. They were discussing the followings they have seen from fans and companies of various characters. However, they mentioned that they barely notice any following for Rayman, as if people have dropped the idea. Of course, it could just be their own ignorance, but I feel like if they are noticing other characters, and not Rayman, then we need to step things up.

Also, was this brought up before? Never saw it myself.

Also Etika supports him:

I'm not really a Rayman supporter. I mean I think he'd be cool in the game, and I have nothing against him, but I'd just rather see other characters. However, let me just say that the people who spout off stuff like
So Ubisoft wants Nintendo to support them, but Ubisoft refuses to support Nintendo? eat a massive **** Ubisoft.
Ubisoft can go **** themselves, they ****ed Nintendo so they don't deserve to be represented in Smash.
Ubisoft no you messed with nintendo you cant just act like you did nothing.
are fools.

Ubisoft, just like Nintendo, just like all the other third-parties, is a business. If they don't see a venture yielding them profit, they're going to put their assets elsewhere. Yet people are singling out Ubisoft as the ones who burned Nintendo when they're the ones who supported it longer than any other third-party this time around. Where is the derision for Capcom or Namco? Those two jumped ship a lot sooner than Ubisoft did. Those two put out what, like two games for the Wii U? Ubisoft put out what, fourteen? I get that Mega Man and Pac-Man are bigger icons than Rayman, but it's still a double standard.

Yeah Legends was delayed and went multiplat, but at least it didn't get canceled. Yeah Watch_dogs got delayed to the point no one cared about its release on the Wii U anymore, but at least it still released. That's more than can be said for almost every other third-party. Sure Ubisoft has a title they're waiting to release for the Wii U, but the Wii U has a terrible install base and they're waiting for it to grow a little more; the mistake is not Ubisoft holding the title back, it's telling people that they're holding a title back. And that's still more than the other third-parties, who pretty much all bailed in 2013.

People think Nintendo is mad at Ubisoft? Well they might be (then again they don't really have a right to be when they're so **** at third-party relations), but what do you think of their thoughts on the other third-parties, who put out one or two games, had several more planned that were all canceled, and then up and left? There needs to be some perspective here.

People have it totally backwards. Ubisoft was the last pillar of third-party support Nintendo had, now the Nintendo fans are ****ting all over them. Why? Did they expect the support to last on a system perpetually on life support? Get real! The other third-parties bailed much earlier, why aren't they getting the hate? Because it was expected? So why not be mad at Nintendo for being so bad with it's third-parties? Why not be mad at the other third-parties for barely giving the Wii U a shot? Why be mad at the one company that stuck it out longer than any of the others, and only bailed when their fortunes weren't turning around, which is STANDARD BUSINESS PRACTICE.

Fools. >_<

Anyway, I guess that was more about Ubisoft in general than Rayman. But yeah, people are dumb.

Oh.. why.. Why people can be so ignorant?

Using insults and bad words, I hope that those guys, one day will learn that they're diferent teams working on the different titles for Ubisoft, and that the character isn't the same that the company.

I hope that he falls off of the Koopa Clown Car
*sigh*:(
I think we aren't loud enough:

Ash, I love you man, but Shovel Knight, a character who isn't even a year old, should get in Smash, but Rayman, who has been around for almost 20 years, isn't iconic enough?

As for not being loud enough, honestly, I was feeling that way too. You guys have any ideas on getting the word out?

Indeed. Unfortunately there isn't a cure for ignorance.

Ash you are my favorite at GameXplain I just want to face palm at you at times, and this is one of them, I hope Shovel Knight doesn't get in. He's not even a whole year old. Rayman been around for 20 years that a big gap between Shovel Knight and Rayman. People seem to forget that Nintendo developed Rayman Legends in Japan, whenever it's bought up that because the game got delayed. For the people that saying Ubisoft doesn't deserve a character, all I have to say is you can dislike the company, but not the character.

Going back to what Etika said though it wouldn't suprise me if Ubisoft and Nintendo did have some kind of deal after the whole leak. They are one of the few companies that didn't promote the ballot right away. It just makes me suspicious as to why Ubisoft didn't promote Rayman when the ballot got confirmed. It just makes me supscious that Ubisoft may know something that we don't.

My thoughts exactly... hmm... What are you hiding Ubisoft... TELL US >_<

I don't see why Shovel gets so much support to be honest.. I like the character myself, and think the game would be cool (plan on picking it up someday from the eshop).. its not even that its indie either.

He is just waaay too young of a franchise (if you can call a character with one game a franchise XD). Could he have a moveset from the game, and use his shovel? Probably... it would just be too early to me.. I might see it in a few more years though, after he has more titles under his belt.

Didn't you mean "published"? I really doubt Nintendo themselves actually developed the game for the Japanese localization.

Speaking about Shovel Knight, I don't have anything against the character or his game, but I'm really scratching my head about how much people seem to suggest him - though maybe it's just a vocal minority actually. I get his game is awesome and he has moveset potential (didn't play it, just reporting what other people said), but I think he's way too random for Smash standards.

I think Omni's Smashifed stuff is effecting this in some way. At least it seem to be with like every character he's done so far I noticed...

I feel like Shovel knight is a really generic character, for both indie game standards, and game standards in general. I do like the look of his games in a way though.

As for spreading the word about Rayman, I don't think we should worry TOO much about that. I mean, it's not like GameXplain is Sakurai, so it could be they haven't noticed the amount of activity going on in Smashboards.
That said, does anyone here go into any clubs, schools, etc? You guys could ask people to vote for Rayman. However, I believe these types of people are the most likely to vote for Rayman:
  1. Those who are really into Ubisoft.
  2. Those who are into Smash.
  3. Those who love Rayman and Ubisoft, but don't play Smash.
Granted, we don't need to spread the word. It would HELP, but it's not necessary. After all, all Sakurai will be looking at is the votes.

I'd tell my school friends but they're only into CoD :(.

Also I'm making a video to support Rayman.

On the topic of Shovel Knight, I think he's a really cool character.
Does he need to be in Smash 4? I don't think so. Like others have said, his game's only a year old. At least let it evolve into a franchise before asking for him to appear in one of the biggest crossovers ever.
I have nothing against those who want him. But they should at least be aware of that.

and of course potential. I mean its not like he would just let the likes of Shrek in for example, even if votes for that piled the competition. He knows whats good and whats... not so good...

Of course we are assuming he is actually going to consider the popular, fan supported, and logical suggestions.. and not just pull a Sakurai and pull the most random character from the bottom of the pile... -_-
