So, I have this weird thing with King K. Rool and Rayman.
You see, I think these two are very likely to be DLC, but at the same time, I also think they're unlikely.
I mean, they have a lot going for them. Both are highly demanded newcomers to be added, both already have trophies, both are pretty iconic among retro gamers, and both are very well known among the Nintendo faithful.
However, there's one thing that could prove to be a hurdle for these two:
Both of them were created by Western developers.
This applies more so to Rayman because unlike K. Rool, Rayman is obscure in Japan. The fact that he is a third party makes matters even worse for him. Sure, Rayman Legends was a Wii U exclusive in Japan, but he didn't have the liberty of being a part of a franchise that's well known in Japan.
If Sakurai is going to try please the Smash fans in the West, Rayman has a good chance and so does K. Rool. However, if he is trying to please the Japanese Smash fans, then it's going to take a TON of votes to convince Sakurai that Rayman is viable enough.
And unlike Little Mac, whose franchise was created by Japanese devs, all of Rayman were developed by French devs.
It's been a worry of mine because there was a rumor that Miyamoto hated the original DKC. Could this very well apply to Sakurai in terms of not just Donkey Kong, but for Rayman?
