air moves:

perfect shff is 15 frames long and there is 3 frames before you are airborne. air moves lag = 18 + lcancel lag.

nair:
hit 4-31
lcancel lag 7
rating: 11/25 or 44%

bair:
hit 4-19
lcancel lag 10
rating: 11/28 or 39.2%

dair:
first hit 5-6 last hit 23-24
lcancel lag 9
rating: 10/27 or 37%

fair:
first hit 6-8 second starts 16
lcancel lag 11
rating: 3/29 or 10.3%

uair:
hit 8-9 and 11-14
lcancel lag 9
rating: 6/27 or 22.2%

nair is the safest move overall closely followed by bair (more lag). to put that in perspective, fox's roll has a 51.6% rating (4-19/31 frames)

edit: on dair and uair i counted safety from first hit to last hit, which isn't really the case. the real ratings of those moves is slightly lower, but this is a good show of effective safety.

ground moves:

jab:
hit 2-3
total 17
rating: 2/17 or 11.8%

dash attack:
hit 4-17
total 39
rating: 14/39 or 35.9%

ftilt:
hit 5-8
total 26
rating: 4/26 or 15.4%

dtilt:
hit 7-9
total 29
rating: 3/29 or 10.3%

utilt:
hit 5-11
total 24
rating: 7/24 or 29.16%

smash attacks:

fsmash:
hit 12-22
total 39
rating: 11/39 or 28.2%

dsmash:
hit 6-10 (legs invincible frame 6)
total 49
rating: 5/49 or 10.2%

usmash:
hit 7-17 (head, but not snout, invincible 1-9)
total 41
rating: 11/41 or 26.8%

Comparison list:
Nair 11/25 44%
Bair 11/28 39.2%
Dair 10/27 37%
Uair 6/27 22.2%
Fair 3/29 10.3%

Jab 2/17 11.8%
Dash Attack 14/39 35.9%
Ftilt 4/26 15.4%
Dtilt 3/29 10.3%
Utilt 7/24 29.16%

Fsmash 11/39 28.2%
Dsmash 5/49 10.2%
Usmash 11/41 26.8%

Interesting list. Seems about right. I agree nair is the safest move, no doubt. I just assumed it was more then 50% rating wise. Nonetheless, interesting list. Nice info. ^^

his fair is really bad. if you shffl a fair, it only gets the first kick off before he lands. thats less coverage than marth's shffl fair (not even shdfair)

let me get this straight.. this list ranks the moves based on proportions of lag/how hard they hit for?

i think it would be more interesting to make a list of the most useful moves.

let me elaborate, for instance, fox's ftilt has a fairly low rating on this list, but it is extremely useful in spacing situations, and can cause people to try to sheild grab it (which they can't), leaving them open for an attack.

when people justify their reasoning for ranking a certain move, it might give players more ideas about just how to use certain moves that they may not use frequently.

this list is a 100% factual analysis of fox's moves, from when you commit to using them to when you are free to do another action. this is a good rating of fox's moves when both players are in neutral position.

nair is obviously the best move because you have 7 frames from committing to when the hitbox comes out, you are protected for 44% of the duration and you are mobile during the whole thing.

ftilt covers you 15.4% of the time. bair covers you 39% of the time. they have very similar range but bair is much safer

i would love to have actual numbers on the range of moves, and then i could weigh these results with each move's range, but those numbers simply aren't available (to me). i believe magus has them, though.

oh yea, the aerial moves are actually not accurately rated. each time you jump there is 3 frames before you are in the air, i will update the first post with accurate ratings.

what i find cool about this list is that most good foxes know most of this already. the moves with the highest numbers are the moves used most (nair, bair, dair, dash attack, usmash) and the ones with the lowest are used least (dtilt & fair; dsmash is great for edgeguarding but thats about it)

m2k's site doesn't have any ordered information like this, nor does SDM's frame lists. i didn't really make this list for anyone but myself, because i wanted to see the results.

firebird is an amazing move, actually. if it had more priority/larger hitbox there would be some characters that simply couldnt stop fox from doing it all over the stage lol
