Back in December, I didn't know who Joker was or what Persona 5 was about. If I rated Joker after Xurkitree's day like he was planned before the VGA reveal, I would've given him about a 50% want for being indifferent towards the character. Thanks to his reveal, and me binge watching Johneawesome's Persona 5 let's play on YouTube, he became the character I never knew I wanted so badly. I'm not gonna spoil anything about the main story, but Joker is a true hero in my opinion, who defied a corrupt society and changed the hearts of evil while putting everything, including his friends, freedom, and life in jeopardy. Watch or play P5 for yourself to see what happens. Mementos is cool, though I would've preferred the casino palace as the stage. They did manage to make it look really cool, and not dark and ugly like the actual in game location. I really like his moveset, though it doesn't use his full potential of being a wildcard, which is a bit of a shame. Also, WHERE'S LIFE WILL CHANGE? My satisfaction would've been 100% if it weren't for one amazing music track missing! Outside of Joker, the Stage Builder is a moderately upgraded version of the Wii U version's (which sucked!), but it could still use some work. Maybe some more stage elements would make it better. At least there's more than 8! (Thank God!) Reminds me of the days of playing LittleBigPlanet. Mii costumes, I don't care. Even worse, Tails is once again a Mii costume which severely hurts his chances.

Also, it's coming today! I'm guessing the next character will be revealed at E3. (Hoping for Banjo, and please don't be Turdrick...)

Joker himself looks very fun and the amount of detail they put with him is amazing (such as with his victory animation). I especially like how Arsene is incorporated into his moveset. Also That new arrangement of Beneath the Mask may also be one of my favorite themes in the game now.

Mementos Satisfaction rating: 99%
I was a bit disappointed when it was originally leaked that Mementos would be the stage as I wanted to see the casino from the beginning of the game. That said though, the way they integrated P3 and P4 into the stage via the music/color change is completely perfect. Mementos may actually be my favorite stage now due to how well it looks as well as it having a fairly simple layout. The Yu Narukami and P3 protagonist Mii costumes were the icing on the cake. Honestly the only thing that disappointed me regarding the Persona content was that Blooming Villain and Life Will Change didn't make it in as songs.

Stage Builder Satisfaction rating: 80%
Much better than I was expecting. The stages having layers means there is so much potential in the types of stages people will make. My only gripe is that I'm not sure if you're forced to use handheld mode to make most of the stages via drawings.

These words have been held since... December?

Ren "He's Not Arle" Amamiya

Satisfaction: It's been a long time coming. It's gonna make me Persona (heh) non Grata from any board that likes him (read: everywhere), but a big fat 0% is coming his way. In the BEST case scenario, he's crippled Arle's support base because many people cling onto a fan rule, and in the worst (we can't prove this, and we likely never will) his inclusion came at her expense (that tiny bit more than other characters). Spite? Yes. If I were rating objectively, he'd probably have a better score, but we don't live in a world of objectives. What we do live in is a single pass and limited resource, time, and motivation world. He also seems kinda busted, but then again the trailer always makes them look insane, so maybe Joker won't be incredible (and thus incredibly common, which would sour my opinion of him even further).

...or maybe Joker is considered Atlus and not SEGA, but even then, not even a Mii Costume came around for us, and that had Sonic content so they likely do see Segatlus as one and the same.

Meme Toes

Satisfaction: While I am spiteful towards Joker, I am not going to extend that hate to all of Persona 5. I admit Mementos looks pretty cool, actually. I'm a bit worried about how many leaks it supports, but at the same time, that one leak involving Erdrick is now fake (unless Jack Frost is there and I missed him?), the stage itself looks cool, the music is awesome, and the Phantom Thieves look great. I might get the pass just for this alone (and with a free Sandbag), this has inspired me to play Persona 5 far more than the guy who's part of Smash's legacy now. It's earned a 70%. Only flaw is that my suspicions about DLC were confirmed: this is it, since Mementos isn't in the DLC tab but is on the normal stages tab (we have 5 to go before we're done), this is likely our one and only pass.

Super Smash Maker

Satisfaction: Hell yeah. This was already going to be more important to me than the most important part of the update, mostly since now any stage that doesn't exist I can make on my own. Ah, the limitless potential... I've always considered myself a decently creative guy. I'm very happy to have a chance to exercise that creativity more than myself. 70%. And it's free, which is a very, very nice bonus.

I'm still not 100% sold on his inclusion due to the combination of being new, third party and his game isn't on a Nintendo platform (meaning it was impossible for me to be familiar with him before his reveal) but he looks kinda fun, if a bit generic. I like his style in his victory and taunts.

Mementos 80%
It looks flashy and cool and I look forward to hearing more of its music and how it works.

Stage builder 100%

I adore stage builder in Smash, I made so many stages in past games and I intend to make over 100 if I can. 1 for each character.

Wow.

My most-wanted. He's here. I'm about to play as my most-wanted in Smash. It's insane. I've never had this happen before and it's...well, it's pretty amazing. He looks so fantastic. I've recently been learning Robin so I really enjoy the dagger and Eiha moves, and as someone who isn't great with counters I love the different type of guard he has. His animations are stylish and beautiful, he's so clearly packed full of love and respect to his game and series, and the little touches like the effects on his gun or the All Out Attack getting random party members involved is just stunning.

When it was rumored the stage would be Mementos I was a little let down because I wanted the Casino from the opening of the game, but I wanted to stay hopeful. I figured they could stylize Mementos to make it work, and wow wow WOW they sure did that. The stage oozes beautiful Persona style, and the hazards look like a ton of fun. I really hope this stage is tourney-legal because it would make for a great addition to anyone's lineup. Plus, that music!!

Persona 3 and Persona 4 being represented along with color changes was such a wild addition I never expected. The Persona 4 Mementos is straight gorgeous and Reach Out To The Truth hitting made me remember just how much I really did love Persona 4.

So, with a character who looks to fit my playstyle perfectly, a gorgeous level based on the UI of the game it's from, my dream final smash coming true for my dream character, cameos from the other main party characters and even an awesome-looking Crow and School Uniform alt, why a 99%?

Well, it's very minor, and it'll never stick in my craw or anything, but it's a real shame Persona 3 Portable didn't get a track and Mementos change. It's my favorite version of Persona 3 and in my mind I always associate P3 with pink because of it. Plus it has great music. The other thing is that I'm incredibly surprised Life Will Change isn't one of the tracks in the game despite it showing up in the original reveal trailer.

Again, this is minor. My pipe dream character is about to be playable in Smash. We get DLC spirit fights, too. There's so much to love here and it's so clear how much love and passion has been poured into Joker. If this is how all DLC characters are going to be treated, I don't care if I get any of my most-wanted ones because I want EVERYONE to feel as loved and seen as I do now when THEIR favorite franchise gets reppped. What an amazing feeling.

Stage Builder Satisfaction: 100%
I went in expecting nothing or expecting something like Brawl's. I came out with LittleBigPlanet: Smash edition. The later system is exciting, the ability to pick backgrounds from existing stages is exciting, and the versatility is exciting. But what excites me most of all? Smash World. I'm gonna play so many other people's stages. I can't wait to see what cool creativity people have in store. And it makes me hopeful that Mario Maker 2 will have similar systems too.

Satisfaction Rating of Joker, Mementos and Stage Builder
Joker: I have not played the Persona Franchise (yet), but it appears to be a fun franchise, and Joker's double moveset (his and his Persona's) make him a fun character to use. And the franchise is becoming more fun in this game as well. 90%

Mementos: Also 90%. I mean, the stage changes colour, depending on the music, making it a very unique stage. And the stage would be another fun stage to play on as well.

Stage Builder: 90 to 95%. We can finally can create costume stages, making this stage even more Ultimate. This means that we can recreate certain stages like Poke Floats and Yoshi's Woolly World, in case they don't return.

Joker Satisfaction: 90%
I'll be honest - I have no attachment or desire for Joker at all. I haven't even purchased him yet, and will really only do so if the Fighter Pass itself ends up being worth purchasing for me. I'm literally only giving this rating because he has a realistic gun, which for the most part invalidates all the major arguments against Doomguy, one of my personal most wanted. Oh yeah, and Gun Kirby.

It would be 100%, but he looks like his kit is just destined to be broken as hell (seriously, they gave him an all-purpose counter, a tether grab, excellent mobility, and multiple projectiles?), so minus 10 points.

Mementos Satisfaction: 40%
Sure, it looks nice, but...that's about it, really. The base layout is painfully generic, and the stage's hazards look random and kind of cheap. At least the hazardless version should be legal for tournament play.

Mii Costumes Satisfaction: 0%
Why are hats and full costumes the same price? Not gonna be buying any of these. They're pretty ugly tbh, and the idea of taking out all of the 3rd Party Mii Costumes just to sell them pack to us at a premium is really scummy and should be called out as such. Hell, they didn't even bring back all of the SEGA costumes!

Stage Builder Satisfaction: 99%
It seems like they learned from the Smash 4 stage creator's general lack of features and made one you can actually make visually appealing stages with! Also, the touch controls are a very nice option, and the addition of layers is a nice touch. I honestly really can't wait to see what fun nonsense people come up with! I am, however, slightly worried by the fact that all of the stages shown were really quite small. Can you create larger stages?

Satisfaction ratings

Joker - 100%: Unless he looked like total and utter dog **** this was probably always going to be my rating for him. If I could go any higher then I'd jump it up to 200 percent. The mechanic used for Arsene(don't remember what it's called) looks great, the moveset fits him like a glove, and Morgana showing up for taunts is a cool touch. Got my hopes up that he was an assist trophy at first but this still works for me. Love the final smash, that was exactly what I wanted it to be. His victory scene is perfect as well. Sakurai ****ing nailed this one.

Stage builder - 100 : Looks dope as hell. Never really touched Smash 4's since I didn't really love Brawls but this one is getting at least some playing with from me. I wasn't even that interested in getting it back but now I'm hyped for it.

Mementos - 70: I mean, I'm more of an Omega stage player myself, but this looks pretty good regardless. Really like the Persona 5 cast showing up on the map. Really like the music choices from Persona 5 they went with(don't know anything about the other persona games). The stage changing color is a great touch too. Don't know how much I'll use it but it was well done

Mii Costumes - 40: It's alright I guess. Like I said above I don't know basically anything about persona 3 or 4 and I'm not a huge Sonic fan so they aren't huge for me. Someone more into it would probably like it more

Joker & Mementos Satisfation - 100%

I wasn't really feeling Joker's skin tone for some reason during the Best Buy leak, but they really nailed a lot of stuff down with Joker and Persona as a whole. You know Joker's getting the royal treatment with the amount of Persona 5 fanservice packed in. From the models of the Phantom Thieves and Arsene to his victory screen being the most unique compared to the rest of the roster, Sakurai and his team went all out for him and is looking to be the only DLC fighter to get this type of treatment.

Mementos is the best looking stage in Smash by far, and it's probably going to stay that way for a long time. There isn't exactly much I can say about it, but it's definitely getting banned from tournaments anyways.

Mii Outfits - 25%

These outfits aren't for me, though I would buy the Knuckles Mii Outfit anyways cause it's Knuckles.

Stage Builder - 90%

Stage Builder is going to be a fun addition to Smash now that you can download custom stages online and use backgrounds from other stages.

I'm not the most familiar with him, but he looks pretty cool. I like the whole Stand-like aspect he has, that should be pretty fun to use. I do have to knock off a couple points for a Down Special counter. They really need to cool it with that move.

Mementos

The stage has a very distinct style and I like how walls move in to change the way characters can be KOed. The music is pretty groovy too.

Stage Builder

Satisfaction: 100%
This has been my favorite mode for the past two installments, so I'm overjoyed to have it back. I'm glad that the Smash 4 drawing mechanic returns as I can recreate my favorites from that game. I also like the most texture and background options, not to mention how exciting it will be to use layers to further flesh out the look of a stage. Needless to say, I can't wait to get my hands on this mode.

-----

Mii Costumes

Satisfaction: 70%
I was hoping for more, but getting any will be nice. I'm no expert on Persona, but the protagonist outfits look pretty cool and I can always mix and match with the hats/hair to create other character designs.

I'm basically the opposite of Realpokefan11. If this had come up on the day of his reveal it would have been 100%. I adore Persona 5.

Come his gameplay reveal and... I hate how he plays. Beyond the fact that he looks super gimmicky (which is something I usually don't like) and copied off of Little Mac and Cloud... That's a terrible representation of Persona 5. I'm honestly surprised with how faithful Sakurai has been to other characters, and especially given that he's apparently loved it.

Arsene and other Personae aren't things like limit breaks for Joker, they're literally with him for every single moment for every single fight, so I don't know why they made Arsene into a special meter skill. Plus Joker has very little magic in his special attacks, which is weird and kind of a waste.

Other than that, I'm happy about how he looks, how he moves, I love his alts and his win screen. But I'm kind of pissed off because I also know that Sakurai doesn't change movesets ever so Joker is stuck with this until the end of time.

Meme mentos

Satisfaction rating: 80%
Should have been the Casino, but I like what they did with Mementos and it's not what I expected. I was expecting just a walk off stage with trains in the background, and I feel like they used P5's aesthetic strengths to their advantage with this one. Was expecting way more music though, only 11 songs? That's super lame.

Stage Builder

Satisfaction rating: 100%
Not even playing Ultimate anymore so it's unlikely that I'll use it, but it's the Stage Builder I've dreamt of for long. It really should have been in the base game though.

RIP Tails (& Knuckles)

Satisfaction rating: 20%
Was never going to Shell out cash for a Mii Costume, so I don't really care, but really? They're reselling costumes people already bought in 4? That's ****ty. Beyond that, I didn't particularly like the lack of variety beyond Persona and Sonic (and I think we could have done without P3's protag).

Overall rating: 45%
Not really worth waiting so long for, especially because Joker released today. I don't see why this couldn't have been shown in the February Direct.

Incredible as always, Joker

100% Satisfaction

The only blip for this for me was I have been under the weather for a while. Needless to say, I was surprised we got Joker news today since I heard we were getting Joker news this week and I assumed Thursday. That being said, everything was even better than I expected.

The Rebel's guard was super cool, a great way to incorporate Personas. I like how he moves, how he fights. I am glad they found a different way to work in the Persona mechanic without it being just swap with down b or something like that. Also, this brings me back to running out of SP in dungeons.

Waiting For Flu Season

80% Satisfaction

I wanted the Velvet Room, or the Casino. Instead we get Mementos.

which they did a good job with.

I like the angle they took with the stage, maximizing the visual design of Persona 5. It looks hectic as hell with hazards on and very much fun for one on ones with hazards off. I am excited. Also this would have been an 85 but the lack of life will change after the first teaser is unforgivable lol.

Take all the fun ideas I had for Stage builder. Add all the custom options we needed. Now we have a much better stage builder.

He looks fun. My enjoyment of the character is most likely going to be determined by what can be done with the grappling hook. Would've preferred more Persona integration as opposed to just a limit form. If anything Down B should just activate Arsene giving him buffed attacks at the cost of an SP guage. Still this is the closest were getting to a JoJo character in Smash.

Shoutouts to his alts being based on the colors and aesthetics of prior Persona games. Though I'm a bit disappointed that there's no pallete for best girl.

Pleasantly surprised that they took the worst part of P5 and made it interesting. Really appreciate the P3 and P4 versions.

Only thing I need to say, Last Surprise.
That's in the game now because of this stage. Immediate 100% because of that.

Mii Costumes: 10%
Not a Persona fan, and the other 2 look U G L Y .
10% however because I know other people will like it.

Stage Builder: 100%
Firstly, it can have Last Surprise in the background.
Secondly, backgrounds can be changed by objects, and it even looked like Magicant was the background, so I assume that Stage builder will allow multiple backgrounds from the actual stages can be used.
Thirdly, More options than last game, it was worth the wait.

Joker - 40% - As someone who wasn't going to insta-buy Joker, I'm... not impressed. Thus far, we have had two characters that have had similar mechanics - Little Mac and Cloud. Little Mac has consistently been a lower tier, and Cloud was overpowered on release. Having him rely on countering in order to gain charge is going to be difficult to pull off, and the pay off is going to be hard to balance as well. Mark my words, he's either going to be way overtuned or reliable powerless, and I don't have much hope for an in between. Add in the history of third party DLC and well...

Mementos - 70% - I know Persona 5's menu was crazy stylized, so I can apreceate the astetic. It looks fairly cool, and I don't think the hazards look that overbearing. That said, as I won't get the DLC just for a stage, I can't exaclty be too enthused.

Stage Builder - 90% - Probably the best thing to come out of the direct, for me. They are combining the best elements of Brawl and 4's stage builder, plus adding more. Sharing is also going to be fairly easy. There's literally noting I can complain about, though I just can't be as happy as a fully character for this.

Joker - 90%: He plays more or less like what I expected him to be: a sword (or in this case, knife) n' gun user with a stand. The only thing I didn't imagine was that Arsene would work like a comeback mechanic, that will definitely affect the character's full potential. Not to mention, now that we know all DLC characters will have their own spirit boards, it's more likely we're running into the all-guests line-up that I champion so much.

Mementos: 90%-It's a fine stage. I usually don't really care about a stage's looks. What really surprises me is the fact that there's brand new music remixes, which I didn't expect because we're talking about Sega.

Mii Costumes: 0%-What can I say? I really don't care about Mii Costumes. They're ugly as hell, and are cheap excuse to not work on actual DLC skins for characters, and one to not include whatever character they represent on top of it. Sure, no one really got axed this time around, but still.

Stage Builder: 70%-I suck at creating stages, but the mechanics look nice, and the fact that you can share and download custom stages feeds my curiosity. Hope it's possible to insert any song so I can put my favourite Smash remixes into it.

Joker: 90% - I have to say that Persona 5 may be among my favourite video games of all time so I’m obviously happy to see Joker in Smash. Sakurai and his team did a fantastic job integrating him into Smash even going so far as to recreate the animations of the victory screens and All Out Attacks. I’m unfortunately not that big of a fan of the Arsene mechanic.

Mementos: 50% - I’m actually a little disappointed with the overall atmosphere of this stage, Mementos should not be this happy and colourful. The stage’s gimmick of summoning random ceilings and walls to block launched fighters is an annoyance. I do however like the music selection and addition of background characters.

Stage builder: 100% - I was worried that stage builder was gone for good so this is a pleasant surprise. It seems Sakurai and his team have gone above and beyond to make this the most in-depth stage builder yet and I am so excited that we can finally customize backgrounds which were so limited in previous Smash games. The freedom to create more diverse paths for moving platforms is also something we desperately needed.

I'm new so stop me if I do stuff wrong

Joker: 80%
He's really epic, his playstyle is smooth but not baby-easy like some previous dlc character.
Would be cool if he had more Persona to use but I guess that would be insane to make.

Mementos: 100%
The stage is cool, Hazards on is cool and nog even overly disruptive, Hazards off is borderline legal, the Phantom Thieves in the background are cool but Them actually reacting to the match is even better.
And oh dear Lord the music!

Stage Builder: 20%
I liked drawing stuff the first 20 minutes but it's a pain in the ass to not Just insert platforms. Also: drop-through platforms have walls on the side for some unholy reason and I can't keep a platform pass-through when I make it rotate.
Also the stages you find online are... Yeah...

Peaceful Nights And Good Dreams Will Come To You, But Only If You Post "Whoa! Looking Cool, Joker!" In This Thread

Satisfaction: 200%

While I've yet to play Persona 5, Joker's implementation into Smash gives me a ton of hope for the DLCs to come.

Joker's central character seems to be centered around the concept of an "Underdog With Style", and it really shows in his moveset. He's fast, hard to catch, and has plenty of tools for guerilla tactics between his projectiles and quick attacks. He has really good anti-air tools too, as if equipped to deal with anyone who thinks they can attack from above him. But his central mechanic comes from face-tanking hits with a well-timed Rebel's Guard; only the daring (or the downtrodden) will be able to summon their personas here. It's a mode shift that doesn't snowball advantages, but instead gives the means for Joker to climb back from disadvantages.

The great thing about Arsene is that unlike Little Mac, Cloud, or Shulk, you don't suddenly gain a powerful one-shot that your foes now have to respect, or a power boost that a mediocre moveset needed. Rather, you still have to hit the same moves and tactics as before, all of which become more punishing with Arsene's help. Even the addition of a reflecting countermove doesn't change things up much, since you still have to read the same attacks with it that you did with Rebel's Guard. Heck, you actually lose an option with the removal of your grappling hook - even a buffed Side Special can't make up for a whole tool disappearing. There's no relaxing on Joker's part - he has to get up and get out there, and make use of the power he's given to turn the tables. You even see this with how fast it charges - it's not something meant to close out a match, but something to be used in the middle of it.

(While I understand that personas are used throughout the whole of a given battle in the Persona games, I found the implementation here to be a pretty good representation of how those games work as a whole. After all, it's not just battling that you do in those games, but also living the life of a Japanese high schooler, which make up for a significant part of the game's content and appeal. Joker's moveset thus alternates showing him as either a normal-yet-daring human being or a persona-powered protagonist.)

Not only does Joker bring a playstyle he can identify with, but he also shows Sakurai and company learning from Cloud and other attempts at fluctuating power levels. Normal Joker can hold his own just fine, while Arsene still needs you to land the same attacks that you landed before to make the most out of him. It's an upgrade from Good to Better, instead of Bad to Good, and it's an upgrade you only get from either hard reads or a disadvantage state. Joker isn't someone who intends to oppress other characters, but to be fighting them either on even terms or from behind, and that's a kind of fighter that few other games ever succeed at creating.

Time and the metagame will ultimately tell if Joker works out in practice - but from this Smasher's perspective, he's a bold and welcome addition to the Smash roster, and shows that Sakurai isn't going to be playing this Fighter Pass as safely as anyone feared.

I hope this doesn't come off as demanding but is there any chance we could speed things up? We've only been rating about 2 or 3 characters per week for the past few weeks or so. If the delays have been due to real world issues then just ignore this comment then.

More or else just going to echo what GoodGrief741 said here, at least with the bit about Arsene. I'd probably be more annoyed with the idea of him having a gimmick in the first place if Ultimate's newcomer lineup was as gimmicky (just like most of For's newcomers), but I'm not too miffed about that.

Mementos satisfaction: 95%
Mostly this high because of the stage changing aesthetics based on music from a different Persona game. The music selection is also good, but I can't help but feel it could've been better.

Stage Builder satisfaction: 70%
I love just how much more in depth Stage Builder is now, especially with the numerous layers thing. That being said, I'm also pretty peeved over the fact that you still can't just add platforms without drawing like it used to be back in Brawl, and it still feels like its missing so many crucial things, like having objects like water and such.

Mii Costumes satisfaction: 55%
Selling the Tails and Knuckles outfits again sucks, especially considering they don't even look any better from last time. At least the new ones are good, even if Yu's the only one I care for much.

Chance: 20%. He has a lot of competition just like all the fighters. Who knows when he could arrive, but with all that competition, it's a longshot.

Want: 50%. I don't know much about the tales franchise, so I'm on the fence. On the overhand, this franchise would be fun in Smash Bros.

Noms: 2 for Gooey, 1 for Magolor, 1 for Decidueye and 1 for Metal Sonic

The Tales series is incredibly big especially in Japan so I think it's ripe for a rep, especially with there being some past Tales representation in Smash in the form of Lloyd's SSB4 mii costume. Yuri does have an advantage of being incredibly popular in Japan, apparently on the same level of popularity as Lloyd if not greater. Unfortunately for Yuri however I think Lloyd has the upper hand. When interviewed about his decision to make Lloyd a mii costume in SSB4, Sakurai flat out said that Lloyd would be the most appropriate character to represent the Tales series. In addition to that statement, Lloyd also seems to be the more globally popular Tales rep. For those reasons I don’t see Yuri making it in over Lloyd. On top of all of this there is also a small chance that they would add Velvet Crowe instead to represent the latest Tales game.

Want: Abstain
Never got into the Tales series aside from playing a tiny bit of Symphonia. The series is so big and complex that I feel that my want rating would either be incredibly inaccurate or understate how big of a series it is. Because of this I'm gonna sit this one out.

Bonkers chance prediction: 0.11% (not happening with Bandana Dee and Adeleine MIA)

I honestly can't envision a universe in which we get a Tales rep and it isn't Lloyd. I know Yuri is popular in Japan and he's the most popular Tales protag with the fandom, but that doesn't mean **** (ask Lyn). Lloyd is from the breakout hit of the series in the West, is the most heavily associated with Nintendo, and Symphonia is the best seller of the franchise. This is a Cloud over Terra or Joker over Yu situation.

Want: abstain
Might have something to do with the game's obscurity in the West, but I had never heard of this character until people mentioned him on this thread. So I'll abstain because I don't have any feelings towards him.

Thanks to Costume-Theory, chances of us getting another Bandai Namco rep are nearly absolute. However, there are a few major players Tales is competing with. Darksouls, Tekken and Soul Caliber are all Namco owned series that could make their way into smash. Then there's the theory about Metroid Prime 4 being co-developed, tieing Sylux to the Namco mii-costumes, but that's extremely unlikely.
Then if out of these Tales would be the chosen franchise, it's clear that Loyd is the most probable candidate, having a mii-costume and everything.
So yeah, technically there is a posibility but not a big one.

Want: 0%
Fair warming: I've never played a Tales game. However, as a Fire Emblem fan, looking at him tells me his inclusion would reignite the anime-swordsmen discussion and please don't do that.
Then there's the Sylux thing I'm still holding out minor hope for and any Bandai Namco rep would mess that up.

Chance: 15%

Yuri is the most popular Tales Of protagonist in Japan (they don't include him in many popularity polls because he wins every time) and also the most recent in the series (if you count remasters). Going off that and the precedent that Joker set, I would say he would be one of the more likely picks for the franchise if it gets in. The problem is that Sakurai has already talked about Lloyd being his pick for the face of the series and Yuri isn't that unique in comparison, which hurts his chances a lot. His style with punches and kicks isn't as evident as Lloyd's dual-wielding so he'd probably have to be marketed more to convince people.

Want: 80%
Yuri is a fantastic character, even if he doesn't stand out at first glance. He would bring a wisecracking personality to Smash and would hopefully be a different take on sword wielding than the spacing game they are all known for. I can see potential cause for concern if he doesn't stand out enough or is marketed poorly, but those don't have to be the case. I'm also not sure how a Tales Of character would even work in Smash, but I want to see it.

Nominations: Tiz Arrior x5

Hopefully I did this right, I just wanted to give my thoughts having played Yuri's game.

Not Lloyd
Chance:0%: He honestly has no chance. First, Namco has Souls, Tekken, and soulcaliber which all have viable reps. Second, and more importantly, Lloyd Irving is much more iconic (to the point of being one of the characters in SSF2 and SSF) and more popular, and him being a dual-wielding char makes him very interesting. also Sakurai said Lloyd would be his first choice for a Tales rep. so unless Sakurai has 2 reps from one series, which strikes me as unlikely, he won't happen.
Want: abstain: I had never heard of this char until now

Yuri

Chance: 30 - I don't really think so. If there's a Tales Of rep I would think Lloyd is it. Lloyd's demand is far higher than Yuri's. Giving Yuri a 10 percent boost due to the Mii Costume theory, which seems like a fairly solid one to go off of. Plus, Namco doesnt have tons of options that aren't already in or deconfirmed, and if they get a rep Tales of feels like a good bet

Want: 20 - Don't really have a big connection to tales of, but I'd much rather get Lloyd
