One-off Zelda character
Chance: 0.1%
I think Sakurai has made his stance on Zelda one-offs pretty clear, they aren't happening. This one doesn't even have the fanbase that some other Zelda characters do.
Want: 1%
I'm all for more Zelda characters (the series deserves it.) But there's many more interesting choices than this one.

Zelda representation is odd tbh. With three links two zeldas and papa Dorf we do have a good number of Zelda characters, yet we all look for more. I feel part of the problem here is that Zelda characters are linked heavily to popularity. The only two I would consider for the future would be Midna and Skull Kid since they are fan faves. After them there is such a huge drop off.

Ravio falls into that drop off. While not bad by any means, he is still not super popular. For Zelda, popularity is the only path I see for a new rep tbh. In most scenarios at least.

Ravio also suffers from the current climate for DLC. There are very few first party characters I have confidence in, and can only see them happening for advertisement or season 2. Ravio... does not advertise anything new.

If you asked me, the most likely Zelda Rep right now by far is Hilda. An easy Zelda echo that people would like since Hilda is pretty popular I can see. Then again that needs echo dlc but still.

50% want

Ehh he’s fine. Probably my fourth or fifth choice for a Zelda Rep that is original. The main reason I gave him a higher score is that a between worlds stage would be awesome.

Dark Matter

Chance: 1%
You know the drill: not third party, spirit, and has a ton of first party competition. Looking at just the Kirby series alone, Dark Matter has major competition with Bandanna Dee as well as Adeline who are way more requested (especially BD).

Want: 5%
I never really got into the Kirby series and while I know Dark Matter has been around for a while I'm just not that interested in it. If we were to get another Kirby rep I'd much prefer Adeline or Bandanna Dee.

The usual Spirit + not expecting first parties shtick. But seriously, even if Sakurai doesn’t consider Bandanna Dee a character, Marx and Magolor curb stomp this guy in popularity. Hell, probably Adeleine as well. He’s really a hipster pick.

Got no quarrel with this guy. Not my go-to choice for Kirby though.

With Marx out of the picture I think Bandana Dee is the only Kirby character who still has a shot. No ifs, no buts. He destroys Dark Matter when it comes to popularity and relevance and he's only viable character who Sakurai himself created. Modern Kirby games have had pretty poor representation in the Smash series but they are atleast referenced in Kirby's and Dedede's FS. The Dark Matter triology (Dream land 2, 3 and Crystal shards) might just have it even worse. Just like modern Kirby games they're games Sakurai didn't work on and thus aren't represented with any character, stage, item or Assist. Why would that change now?

Want: 0%
I'm a Kirby fan but I have no attachment to the games they play a huge part in. And again, he's not Bandana Dee. No other Kirby character deserves to get in over him. There are also still other characters after Dee I'd prefer to see like Magolor or a Meta Knight echo.

Not likely, I'm afraid. Not only does Dark Matter have a myriad of competition (read: ANYBODY who appeared in Kirby Star Allies except for Marx, but ESPECIALLY Bandana Dee), but even the role of Boss, something Dark Matter would be right at home fitting into, is also stolen by that damn jester. Considering that he's very low on the priority list for Kirby reps, I don't see Dark Matter making it until AT LEAST Bandana Dee, and even then he's not likely.

Want: 0%.
Look, I love Kirby as much as the next guy, but even amongst Kirby villains and anti-heroes, there are characters who are wildly more popular and have more to bring to the table. We already have Marx as a boss for starters, but also characters like Magolor, Susie, Taranza and Daroach are further up in my mind than Dark Matter. Hard pass.

Not to sound like a broken record, but as a Spirit I have to imagine that's a death knell right now. Plus, the Dark Matter trilogy is in a weird place when it comes to Smash representation. I was surprised we even got a Kirby 64 piece of music this game. Dark Matter just doesn't seem like a likely Kirby rep to me when you have Magolor, Susie, and Bandana Dee all on the table.

Want: 50%
It's a shame because some days he's the Kirby rep I want most just because I have a lot of nostalgia for the Dark Matter trilogy. Until Planet Robobot, Kirby 64 was my favorite. He could have a fun moveset based on Dream Land 2's incarnation and similar bosses from those games and would make a really nice throwback rep. But y'know, Sakurai is odd about using Kirby things he didn't create, so I don't see it happening.

It's highly unlikely we're getting Dark Matter before Bandana Dee, Adeline and Magolor, who are way more popular. He could fit as the boss of some sort, but even that was already stolen by the OTHER Kirby villain, Marx. Besides, first-party characters are having a tough time in this DLC Wave since I think we're getting mostly third-party characters and as such, he has a ton of competition.

Want: 5%
Out of all the Kirby characters that I want in Smash, Bandana Dee and Adeline are my top picks. While I certainly don't mind Dark Matter as a playable character, he's better off as a boss character or something.

Thanks again everyone for participating in Ravio's day! I was pleasantly surprised how well he did both in Chance and Want (I thought for sure I was going to be the only one giving him >1%).

Dark Matter
Chance: 1.5%

Well like so many others, Dark Matter has a spirit and isn't a promotional pick nor 3rd party so he's already fighting an uphill battle. Also like our dear Ravio he comes from a series that has many great characters who could be argued are in front of him in line for entry, unlike Ravio though he doesn't have the element of recency on his side compared to almost every other Kirby character. Also the Kirby series seems to have an issue getting anything that Sakurai didn't make into the game which gives him further trouble getting in. Finally Marx's boss fight has him borrowing moves that seem to take inspiration from Dark Matter which likely means they had no intention of using Dark Matter himself.

That said unlike many of the others, including both Dedede and Meta Knight, Dark Matter is a true villain of the series. On top of that he has a great deal of versatility that several other more popular Kirby characters lack which could help his chances by offering a great moveset for Sakurai to work with.

Want: 35%
I adore Kirby characters, they are so fun and full of character. That said while Dark Matter is a great villain I feel like there are many other Kirby characters I'd rather see first, including Gooey who could conceivably use several of Dark Matter's attacks as part of his kit. The main reason I'd be okay with Dark Matter would be for the cool moveset and to put this Sakurai bias stuff to bed.

Chances: 0%. Normally I try to stay optimistic with Kirby character chances, but this is an exception where one appears impossible. He's already a spirit, and despite the limited options Kirby has his spirit battle is moderately faithful. His biggest chance of appearing was with a boss fight, which was already claimed by Marx. Sakurai has yet to acknowledge his importance as a villain, and even in terms of villain reps he has competition. It seems like a no-win situation for him.

Want: 30%. I'll admit, I never grew up with the Dark Matter Blade form that people advocate for, and if we're referring to that I'm not exactly on board. I think Meta Knight is fine as Kirby's only swordsman rep. If there was a way to reference the saga of terror he was responsible for, that might make a difference, but even if he was faithful to his true form, Gooey can basically do that with more charm. And besides which, I'd rather see a consistently friendly face get in over a pure evil entity just because Smash does not treat Kirby's existing cast like they get along.

Dark Matter has so many competition from other Kirby characters, particularly Bandana Dee, Magolor and Adeleine. Since DLC will mostly be third-parties, he also has to face other potential first-party characters for that one spot. The only way I could see him getting in Smash is if they made him a boss character, but Marx already took that spot from him, so he's completely out of there.

Want: 40%
While I do like Dark Matter and all, I still would have preferred Bandana Dee to be the fourth Kirby character in Smash. Though, he would have been fine if he was a boss character instead of Marx.

Chance: 0 - He's a high level spirit, so that does a lot of damage to his hopes. Also not the most requested character from his series, and maybe not even the 2nd most either. Not seeing a very good path for him here on this DLC pack. Also fits what I said about Ravio yesterday in that he would be unexpected like Reggie said, but probably not the kind of unexpected he was talking about

Depends pretty much on Sakurai's involvement with selecting the character, if he has any power regarding it he probably wouldn't add it. Otherwise it has a bit of chance considering it is a relatively frequent villain of Kirby and one of its forms seems to be suited for Smash(haven't seen that form in action though). Only issue is that there are more popular Kirby characters out there like Bandanna Dee if you want a hero or Marx if you want a villain.

Want: Abstain
I only know its non-swordsman form which is probably only suited for a boss/FS so I don't have a complete grasp on the character.

Dark Night:

Chance: 1% - It seems the most popular Kirby character for Smash atm is Bandana Dee, and since he's been established as the fourth player in Kirby games and a character in his own way, I'm not so sure Dark Matter or other Kirby characters would get in before him. I'd expect Bandana Dee first, since he technically first appeared in Super Star, one of the games Sakurai worked on (although he wasn't established as a full character so idk).

Want: 100% - I like Dark Matter and I think it'd be cool if he were in Smash, whether he's in his Knight form or in a standard form, maybe including Zero or Zero Two as a final smash. I would also like Marx or Adeleine, and Bandana Dee could be cool too, but I'd be fine with Dark Matter as well.

Chance: 0%-Line-up is building itself to be full third-party, and there's at least two Kirby characters with more support, those being Bandana Dee and Adeleine. Also, I just don't see another Kirby character happening; not because of anything, just, it doesn't seem like a really big priority, not even if guys like Ridley and K. Rool made it.
Want: 0%-He, of all the bosses is honestly the one I care the least about. I've said bad thing about Adeleine, but at least she's a painter that fights making draws, which isn't something any other character has, and then there's Marx and Magolor's overall much more appealing designs.

The elegant battlefield.
Does the dark matter?

Chance: 1%
This is actually a quite generous rating all things considered. Let's start with the fact that any of the dream friends from Star Allies would most likely get in before Dark Matter. The primary three I'm thinking? Bandana Dee because obviously, Magolor as he's basically the runner up to Dee, and Adeleine as the 'on the rise' character after spirits were shown. Dark Matter would have to fight other Kirby character, including Gooey of his own species, other first party characters, and the myriad of third parties that are far more likely at this time. Not to mention, Dark Matter seems to find itself fighting the same battle that Bandana Dee, Magolor, and Adeleine fight, that he wasn't created by Sakurai, and that's arguably the hardest thing for any Kirby character to overcome. The final nail in the coffin is Dark Matter's inability to touch the ground. Every iteration of Dark Matter, be it swordsman or or normal form, floats above the ground. While I don't think it's impossible, he'd certainly be harder to make work than Bandana Dee or Adeleine. Heck, even Magolor floats above the ground more like Bowser Jr. does in Smash.

Want: 10%
I certainly won't deny that Dark Matter would be an interesting choice, but it certainly isn't my first choice of a Kirby character. Bandana Dee obviously comes first, and after him, I'd probably pick Magolor. Dark Matter I admit would've made for an interesting boss, but it's clear that Sakurai even prefers his own characters for bosses too, not just playable characters. Oh well I guess...

Predictions: Andy
I honestly forgot the name of the series he comes from, I knew it was something wars. After a quick look up, it was Advance Wars. Well... if Isaac was skipped over, Andy certainly has it worse. 2.64%

An actual Kirby villain
Chance: 1%
Want: 65%

+Well known within the Kirby franchise
+Moveset potential
-Bandana Dee is the most likely Kirby rep to happen next.
-Kirby has 2 different villains (kinda) with Meta Knight and King Dedede in Smash. (Except those two are sometimes allies)
-There are also more Kirby villains that are more popular than Dark Matter
-Not highly requested
-Is a spirit, which hurts his chances a lot.

Not much to say here, but Dark Matter would be really cool to see in Smash. He has multiple forms, carries a sword, can fly, shoots many different types of lasers, etc. Unlike Dedede and Meta Knight, Dark Matter is a true villain that would make a great fit in Smash.

Chance - 0.5% - Spirit, competition with a clear front runner in Dee, not quite a hard hitter. Sadly, he seems almost dead on arrival...

Want - 90% - While I want Bandanna Dee more, Dark Matter remains my number two for Kirby characters. He works perfectly to encapsulate many of the moves Kirby final bosses have, and I love the concept of fighting as some eldritch horror which puts every other bad guy on the roster into shame. Watching him put his powers to good use will be amazing to see.

Doesn't Matter

Chance: 0%. I feel okay in giving him this rating. There are many Kirby characters that would take priority (Bandanna Dee, Magalor, Adeline, maybe Marx). Furthermore, we probably aren't getting a Kirby character, there's nothing to advertise other than a 3DS port.

Want: 0%. One of the few characters I would hate the inclusion of. My two most wanted characters are Marx and Bandanna Dee. We wouldn't get two Kirby unique characters in the same game, so seeing either one of them passed up for a boring blob would be disappointing. We already have one Kirby series sword character, another unique one would be a waste.

His theme is pretty good though.

It's a spirit, It's not third party, It's certainly not exactly the most popular Kirby pick, it isn't a Sakurai Kirby character, etc. etc.
It has nothing going for it, unfortunately.

Want - 65%

I've recently played through a whole bunch of Kirby games, and I've come to the conclusion that, at the very least in my books, the only two Kirby big wigs prominent enough in the series would be the ever popular Bandana Waddle Dee (I've learned that he is indeed, not just a Goomba in a Hat) and today's topic, Dark Matter. Now, there's thousands of people who could gush about Bandana Waddle Dee, but I've become pretty surprised at the lack of Dark Matter support after playing through the series.

Dark Matter has an extremely important role in Kirby's Dream Land 2, Dream Land 3, Crystal Shards, as well as heavily implied roles in Amazing Mirror, Squeak Squad, Canvas Curse, Rainbow Curse, and Star Allies, essentially being the closest thing the Kirby series has to a true antagonist. As such, the long legacy of moves the Dark Matter family has seen over the years could make for a very versatile and unique moveset that could easily represent the "eldritch horror final bosses" the Kirby series is so well known for.

More importantly in my books though, is that Dark Matter's inclusion in Smash would probably mean for some actual substantial non-Sakurai Kirby content in the game, which would be extremely appreciated. While most people never notice it, Kirby's representation in the Super Smash Bros. series is absolutely abysmal, primarily pulling from Dream Land, Adventure, Super Star, and Air Ride, despite those four games not only being a mere fraction of the franchise, but an outdated one at that. It really isn't something most would notice unless you really took a deep dive into the Kirby games, which is unfortunate, because I'm pretty sure Kirby might have some of the worst representation in Smash out of all first party franchises currently in the game. I feel like Dark Matter would remedy that problem quite well, being able to heavily pull from Shinichi Shimomura's three Kirby games, commonly known as the Dark Matter Trilogy, as well as some of Shinya Kumazaki's modern titles.

Of course, he'd also bring some kickass music with him as well, including music from a whole ton of Kirby games not represented in Smash, which is always a plus in my book.

...I got nothing.

Chance: 0.1%, take Ravio but make his competition even more stiff than before (at least Ravio doesn't have somebody who even the devs seem to want playable as competition). Now add what seems to be a case of... dare I say it... bias, extreme irrelevance, and as icing-on-the-cake a spirit, and Dark Matter's future as a Smash Fighter is grimmer than ever. Something tells me Nintendo doubts he'd sell.

Want: 30%, while I would be down for other Kirby characters Gooey is the one I'd like the best, and there's also Bandana Dee and Adeleine. However, Dark Matter would be very cool to have, and would probably be my preferred pick for a Kirby villain.

Kirby final bosses simply aren't likely, especially when they hide away until the very end of the game. While fairly within Sakurai's purview of relevant Kirby games, it's pretty telling where he falls when Marx is represented as a boss instead of Dark Matter.

The last Advance Wars game was Days of Ruin, which was released 11 years ago and didn't get released in Japan until a Club Nintendo promo years later. On top of that, the last Advance Wars to have Andy was 14 years ago in Dual Strike and he was more of a supporting character in that game anyway. It’s clear that IS just doesn’t care about the Wars series anymore and is mainly focused on Fire Emblem. With no clear direction for the franchise's future as well as the typical spirit/first party arguments I just don't see as getting an AW rep anytime soon.

Want: 100%
It's a real shame though because the Advance Wars games are some of the best titles on the GBA/DS and have a ton of cool characters including Andy. Like Rhythm Heaven, the Wars series is one of those first party series that really needs some representation in Smash and Andy would definitely be one of the best AW reps.

I find Andy to be in a very similar situation to Isaac. Both from games of the GBA era that aren't truly represented in Smash at the moment. The difference is Isaac is an assist, and Andy is not. So, isn't that actually helpful to Andy? The answer is... no. You see, unlike Andy, Isaac is an extremely popular choice. That's not to say Andy has no fans, but in the scope of him vs. Isaac, Isaac certainly has the upper hand. Even discounting a Isaac, fellow IS characters could get in the way. There is always the possibility of getting yet another FE character, though with the reaction Corrin got in Smash 4, I somehow find Paper Mario as a more likely rival.

Sorry, but I'd prefer to see some of the other fan favorites first. While I'd certainly prefer Andy to another FE character, I know there are bigger demands, again like Isaac, that I feel should be satisfied first. Though when all the fan favorites are gone, I wouldn't mind giving Andy a shot. At the same time, I'd probably give him a higher chance if I played Advance Wars, I guess part of it comes from no attachment to the series.

Predictions: Ezio
So, if I understand this, he's from Assasin's Creed, but he's not the main character of the series? That doesn't bode well... 1.25%

Just to clarify here, to make a comparison Ezio’s like the Cloud of the Assassin’s Creed series. Altair was the first, but Ezio is by far the most popular and well-known protagonist, appearing in multiple games, both mainline and spinoff. Although I suppose I should save that for tomorrow.

He's not even the best commander in Advance Wars

Getting tired of me parroting the same arguments? Yes? Well too bad, here's another. Andy really missed his chance. Even worse for him is that the Infantry and Tanks assist trophy got removed. There's the whole never say never thing going on but... I think you get the idea.

Want: 5%
I've dabbled in a bit of Advance Wars, but I don't see it as a particularly strong candidate for Smash in the first place, owing to the fact that COs NEVER explicitly enter combat themselves, except in Days of Ruin where they attach themselves to a unit. And unlike Fire Emblem, (Y'know, IS's other, more succesful series), the individual units in a typical army in Advance Wars are NOT unique. They don't have their own personalities, etc. Realistically, I think the Infantry+Tanks Assist Trophy from back in Brawl was the general idea for the best representation Advance Wars ever really had a chance at getting.

Ezio prediction: 5% or so? The main thing that hurts him is that he's a Ubisoft rep that's not Rayman.

Ah, that certainly helps things. I apologize, for I must admit, my Assasin's Creed knowledge is near nil, I know next to nothing about it. I suppose that does indeed help him, though at that point it depends on if they want to do the most familiar character or the most recent character, but if he appears in multiple games, he very well might have things handled there too. Thank you @Onereasonanddone.

Chance: 4% - Unfortunately, he has a very slim shot at DLC. The franchise itself is in a questionable position, and Andy just isn't a character who'd sell the Fighter Pass. In all honesty, Brawl was probably his best shot at getting in, and he's long since missed his opportunity.

Want: 100% - Definitely one of my most wanted characters. The lack of Advance Wars content in Smash is seriously just appalling. No music, no stage, no character, and no more assist trophy either. Three spirits is it. Andy has the potential to be a really unique fighter, and it'd be really nice to have Advance Wars back in the spotlight again.

Woody and Buzz's former owner.

Chance: 1%. Yeah, Andy's somebody who has honestly missed out on his best shot, and is really the sort of character that's added base-game. Not to mention his franchise is dormant at best, and dead at worst, being mostly supplanted by Fire Emblem. I highly doubt Nintendo will sell him as a big money-maker, but hey, they've done stranger things.

Want: 25%. I actually didn't like Advance Wars even though I enjoy Fire Emblem. Now I don't know why, but something about it just did not click with me. Aside from that, he represents a new series and isn't Arle competition so I can't say his inclusion would anger me, or even disappoint me, just make me go "OK."

Sly Cooper x 5, I'm gonna cut Ezio a break and give him 13.29%. I mean, he's not somebody we'd count on, but who knows?

Chance: 0- Yet another character that fits Reggie's statement, but absolutely not in the intended way. Franchise is dead and has been for a while. Feels like a franchise that fits with having an assist trophy better(speaking of that, why are the tanks not back?). If we get a another DLC pack with the theme being throwback characters I could see it, and there's actually quite a bit they could do with that now that I think about it, but otherwise I don't see it happening.

Want: 20 - I didn't even know Advanced Wars had a main character. I thought it was just tanks shooting eachother for the most part. That tells you all you need to know about how much I'd like to see Andy in. Staying above 0 because I'd like to only give 0s to characters I really don't want, and I'm more blah on the idea of Andy getting in

Advance Wars is definitely a notable Nintendo franchise even if it's not one I personally play. Plus it'd make Ura happy so that's nice.
