I don't really remember Hades all that well despite playing Uprising. I never went back and did a full playthrough of the game after beating it once. I'm content with Dark Pit getting his specials tweaked to reflect the other weapons in the game (mainly the weapons he used on his titular chapter). Replacing his bow with the staff won't cut it for me. I remember Dark Pit's main weapon becoming the silver bow after his chapter and beyond.

The best part of Kid Icarus Uprising

Hades is by far the best part of Uprising both as a character with the best quips and also the final boss fight against him is the best part of the game. Hades has fantastic moveset potentially playing as a SHMUP boss that fits his troll personality. The only problem I see is relevance and his current status within canon. Granted that second one can be handwaved due to Smash itself not being canon. There's also a bit of a size issue, but unlike say Ridley, Hades has the natural proportions of a human making him more scalable (Plus of Hades does get scaled down there's literally no excuses left for Ridley considering Ridley's a big compared to Hades).

But what makes you think that another KI character is at least a coin flip when KI hasn't received any games/media since before smash 3ds release? Just want some elaboration since I feel like this score is going to be a big outlier

Ehhhh, perhaps I feel like Uprising was a important enough game that it could've carried Kid Icarus's relevance all the way up to when the roster was decided. And yeah, Sakurai bias could also be a part of it.

I could change it to a 25% if 50 really does seem like to high of a score to you guys.

He would be absolutely amazing. He could be a power house character with zoning capabilities. Basically he eould be a mix of Ganondorf, Azrael (Blazblue), and Dormammu (Marvel Vs Capcom). He is easily one of the greatest and most hilarious villains ever and my favorite character in anything period. Also, as the true villain of Kid Icarus, I think he is a solid pick. If he gets in i’m going to spend soooo much time learning him. Plus imagine all the funny stuff he could randomly spout during battle.

Chance: 10% - Kid Icarus likely isn't getting a new rep given the series' inactivity since Uprising, as well as the strong negative reaction to Dark Pit. Even if it were to get one, Hades faces heavy competition from Medusa, who has more series history behind her with just as much moveset potential, and who's actually been seen in a form that isn't city-sized. Things aren't looking good for this big bad.

Want: 30% - I never really found Hades as entertaining as everyone else seems to thing he is, and his design/color scheme is atrocious to me. I'd much prefer Medusa who's a lot less busy design-wise and who was the series OG villain before he upstaged her. He'd certainly be better than Dark Pit though, at the very least.

Predictions

Banjo-Kazooie: 11.11% - Ooh man, tomorrow's gonna be rough. Expecting the XBOX head's quote on them to be brought up a lot, but I really don't think it'll help too much in the long run. There's a reason they'd be such a great surprise reveal, and that's because no one's actually expecting them to make it. They're definitely going to do super well on want though, and for good reason. You can't say no to this bear and bird.

With how often Smash rosters are based on the previous Nintendo era, Hades inclusion doesn't look super likely. I imagine Medusa or Viridi would have the advantage over him due to seniority/reoccurrence and popularity respectively.

Hades is a funny character. But so was Palutena in Uprising. You know what doesn't translate well into fighting games? Gags. Verbal gags especially. No matter what Hades quips with it will become tired and irritating after the 30th repeat.

He's a fine villain in Uprising, affable almost, but Palutena was wanted by many for her humour and none of that translated into Smash outside arguably the Guidance, an optional, easy to forget it's there extra.

I fear Hades would be the same. Medusa and Viridi seem to be a little more interesting move set wise, but I'm worried Viridi would also end up that way.

Sakurai got a lot of flak last time for adding so much content from his own game into Smash 4, including a blatant fanservice character that makes no sense as a playable fighter, a character who's identical to Pit but with different default specials, replacing Classic mode's difficulty scale with the difficulty scale from Uprising, half the Smash Run enemies being from Uprising, two assist trophies, and Palutena's Guidance replacing the Snake Codecs. That, combined with the fact that there's been no KI content in 5 years, means his chances are really low.

Hades is, hands down, the best character in the game. I like Magnus more, but he sadly had almost no screentime despite having a lot to his character. The only thing that stops either of them from being 100% is that we're currently over-saturated with KI stuff.

If there was one thing that got me hooked on KI: Uprising, it was the characters. Pit, Palutena, Viridi, and most importantly, Hades. So funny, so meta, so maniacal. He has a lot of potential as a fighter and I'd love to see him (or Viridi) in the next Smash.

I adore the guy; he was hilarious in Uprising. I most certainly wouldn't be against him in Smash, but he's not a character I'm exactly campaigning for. Ugh, more Kid Icarus. I was biased against the series in Brawl since it seemed like it was trying to leech off of Link's popularity, and then Sm4sh ended up being a glorified Kid Icarus game. No thanks.

Yes, we need more villains. But there are plenty of major villains in series that have been going for a while *coughRidleyandK.Roolcough*, not one-offs from a series which lay dormant for almost 20 years.

Interesting in the last two days that we're getting similar arguments - "X deserves to be in to represent this game," coming from a franchise which has three games total, and therefore 'deserves' three reps. Didn't we also have a major issue when 'Zelda Newcomer' was up that all of the characters are one-offs, and therefore aren't worthy of getting in? Which is it?

I'm still salty about having to play Pit twice to unlock everything in Sm4sh since his literal palette swap was special enough to get a different Final Smash (and for bonus points, it again stole from the Zelda series). Two reps is more than enough for Kid Icarus going forward, and we don't need all the modes to end up as KI expies anyway.

Unless there's some surprise announcement of a Kid Icarus: Uprising port or sequel to bring it back to relevance, I seriously doubt Hades' chances. Kid Icarus had its time in 4, but with nothing new, I doubt we'd get a newcomer from the franchise at all. The only one that seems realistically possible is Virirdi due to how much exposure she has: a 3ds stage, appearances in Palutena's Guidance, and a Mii Swordfighter costume. Even then she seems quite unlikely, so I doubt Hades who has a lot less going for him has any sort of chance.

He could be cool, but I really don't want more KI content. I remember playing SSE and playing the first real level had me thinking "who's Pit? What's Skyworld?" because the games were 20 years old with no follow up at that point. I'm kind of fine with KI in Smash 4 because of the Uprising comeback and Sakurai directing the game, but now that time is over. IMO: Kid Icarus hasn't really proven itself as a Smash-worthy franchise yet. It only has 3 games, the gap between the 2nd and 3rd leaving the series decades dormant. It's kind of like adding a new Earthbound character. The series' have already established themselves in Smash with enough representative content so I'd like to see growth from the series' themselves before they grow in Smash.
