He is one of the most requested characters in BOTH Japan and the West and Sakurai-san said himself that he wanted to include more Metroid characters.

I'll say Ridely has a 85% of getting in Brawl.
As I do think Ridely is a likely contender and size issues are not much of a problem.

Ridley... hmmmm.. Well, I don't know too much about him, i'm afraid. But from what I do know, he would make a good boss maybe, but i'm not too sure about a playable character. It looks like though, that Sakurai is trying a new approach and adding character's with wings, ie. Pit, Metaknight.. so it might work out for Ridley. Though they would have to make him rather small, can't have a 50 foot playable character/boss, lol. But look at Giga B. I suppose..... I would say Ridley has a 65% chance of making it to Brawl.

However, the only Metroid character besides Samus is... Samus... without her suit.

And of all the Metroid character, I suppose Ridley is my favorite, so I say he has a 75% chance going.

Ooh... Ridley. It would be nice to see him in Brawl, but in all honesty, I can't see how Sora could pull that off. It'd be cool to see, but hard to do, so I'm going to leave this one with an even 50%. Yes he's popular, but it's still going to be difficult.

I would have to say I think Ridley's chances of getting in Brawl are very high. He's a very, if not the most, notorious character, that would fit nicely in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

To be honest, I think Geno has an even chance. He would fit well into the game, and by adding Pit to the game, it shows that it doesn't matter if the character is very old or not. Plus he is very, very popular. I know the game makers aren't going based off of popularity, but by how well the character fits in the game, but Geno does fit well in the game, which makes his chances even better.

I just don't see it happening. I have never heard anything about this character other than what I've heard on the boards, but I mean look at him. He's a small puppet, but for some reason he has a ridiculously large fanbase.

the huge fanbase over a single character that has been a big part in one game COULD be a sign that you should play that game. the reason geno has such a big fan base is because hes freaking sweet. although i didnt think he would get into a game like this, after seeing him on the poll, i realized how perfect it would be, and that he actually has a kinda good chance of getting in.

I knew he'd come up sooner or later.

All I know of Geno is from this board (I'm not sure if SMRPG came to the UK, but I haven't played it). He did get a lot of attention from Sakurai, and he definitely has the feel and history to be in this game. However, he's 3rd party (or at least that's the impression I've got, there still seems to be some debate about it), which means it's up to square-enix to allow him to be in, and they probably have their own characters they'd like to add more. However, they did allow Geno to be a cameo in a Nintendo game, so they probably would be happy to lend him to Sakurai for brawl.

I'm going for 50%. I believe he could go either way.

Well I don't really know, even though Geno is a very cool character I still don't think he will be in Brawl. SMRPG was a good game, but Geno didn't had a huge role in it... AND there are alot of characters where Square can choose from...

To be perfectly honest I havn't heard of Geno except from this board. Kudos to his fan base though for a small name character his fan base is overwhelming. I give Geno a 20% chance

Ok, since obviously no one knows much about Geno, I (having loved the character since his arrival/departure on Super Mario RPG) will give a quick little background.

He appears, as afore mentioned, in SMRPG, which is a game for the SNES by Nintendo (and this is the important/controversial part) with help from Square. His rights are technically owned by Square (as reveals McFox's email to Nintendo concerning the matter a while back), meaning that he'd have to come in as a 3rd party character.

Even though owned by Square, he has appeared as a cameo in at least one other Mario game, specifically the Mario RPG for the GBA (I can't remember the name...it's late, haha). He didn't do much of anything, except state the rules for the minigame he was cameod in.

So, there you have it: Geno is owned by Square, which makes him OFFICIALLY a 3rd party character. Everyone needs to get that.

Reasons why I think he's a great choice:

~He's got that Smash feel about him, just like Ness and the Ice Climbers do.
~He's a retro character, which Sakurai is obviously taking an interest in.
~He's the perfect example of the union (that's growing as we speak, BTW) of Square and Nintendo.
~He could be a great 'WTF character,' much like Ness/Game and Watch were.
~It would probably push for more sales of SMRPG for the Virtual Console, as it will probably be out by that time (it's been confirmed for release, just waiting on it).

Now, all that being said, I don't think he'll be joining the party. Simply because I don't think Nintendo will want to go to Square and ask them for this, nor do I think that Square would offer it up. A lack of communication, my friends.

And now, even though I'm one of the biggest Geno-lovers the world has ever seen, I must give my verdict: 10%.

I'm only gonna give Geno a 50% chance. I know he was one of the top requested characters, but he's still a 3rd party character. And space is limited. We know that. It's likely, but there's always the chance he'll be pushed out by another 3rd party.

For Geno, it's not that he's not a cool character who would fit in well, but more the fact that he's third party. I don't think that, for the remaining 1-2 3rd party slots, Sakurai would pick a character who has appeared in only one game, a long time ago, and, to top it off, is a Mario character. I do think that quite a few people would be unhappy to see one of the precious 3rd party slots being used on yet another Mario character.

So, though I'd love to see him, I think it's highly unlikely that we have any luck there.

75% chance. I do know the character is owned by square..
I see him more as 2nd party character because he has not appeared in any other Square Enix owned only games..
If square threw in a character of theirs.. it would be Geno. Not a Final Fantasy character.
The name of the character Geno is more well known then most final fantasy game characters that appeared on a Nintendo counsel.

Also just because Nintendo has had a lack of communication with SquareEnix, that does not mean it will not happen.. especially how Super Mario RPG will appear on the Wii VC this year.

I also do not understand why there can't be more then 3 3rd party characters.. how about just 5? Mega Man and Sonic should of course have 1st dibs for the spots.

I would say 80%; Sakurai knows that people want him and Geno fits into the Smash roster so well. Sakurai also said he enjoys the older, less known characters so I would say it is a very good chance.
