I've had a couple times in the series where I went "What the heck" or "Why is this like it is".

I think the biggest one for me is when you get to Ganon's Castle in OoT and you form the bridge. The castle is scary, the scenery is scary, there is LAVA below you...and then the bridge is flowing and has rainbow colors.

That or when I first saw a Re-Dead. I never got why they attack Link like they do.

What about you guys?

If this has been done (which I bet it has), a Mod can lock, sorry for the trouble.

You mean how they hump Link to death?

My biggest wtf? is how did the happy mask salesman get majoras mask, and why do they never go in depth with it.

Actually, I don't think we have a thread for something like this.

Well, I can sum up the one wtf moment that most people share with one word: Tingle.

Other than that, I can't quite think of any others at the moment. [/fail]

Big wtf moment for me was ST being announced. If someone told me a year ago that there would be a Zelda in which Link rode around in a train, I would've laughed in their face. Now it's a reality, as well as being on my Christmas list. :bee:

The carpenters in Ocarina of Time.

Just the way they lazily do things and complain about having to work is one big conundrum to me.

And having to rescue them as an Adult in the Gerudo Fortress...ugh. Not only is it weird they ALL KNOW EXACTLY how many of them are left, but the comments they make towards Link are...how can I put this bluntly...in a homosexual manner. One of the guys called him "cute". Yeah...guys don't call other guys cute unless, you know...they like guys...

Weird carpenters are weird...

I kid you not, I typed out the carpenters before I deleted it and simply wrote Tingle. I was having trouble wording how I felt about them, so I decided to drop it and wait to see if anyone else brought them up. Thank you for doing so.

The carpenters above all else, are the strangest characters in the franchise. Above Tingle, Falbi, Fyer, and The Postman combined.

I found it extremely odd that they all said exactly the same thing to Link before they were rescued. On top of that, why would a group of carpenters want to join an all-female desert tribe of thieves, anyway?

Another odd thing about OoT is this --

Phantom Shadow Beast - Bongo Bongo. Think about it. The title "Bongo Bongo" is just a strange, far-fetched name for a "Phantom Shadow Beast". WTF? I mean, what did you guys think when you first saw this guy?

I assumed Bongo Bongo was some sort of overgrown plant when I first saw him - look at the eye! It looks like a red spore coming out of a freshly budding plant.

When I first saw Bongo Bongo, I thought it was the most original creature I'd ever seen in a game. We already knew Wallmasters, so severed hands weren't weird at this point. I kind of drew a relation between the two back then, along with Dead Hand (oh man that thing terrifies me).

This guy is pretty WTF:

Whats even more wtf is that his father is Head Carpenter Muto, potion witch "Granny", and the Cucco lady (Anju)! Who would ever thing that big scary mouth Muto would mate with creepy twisted tree face Granny and birth such a pretty girl... and an extremely ugly man.

The ball and chain from TP is the most WTF thing I've ever seen in a Zelda game.

It's a massive metal wrecking ball attached to a chain. How does Link even pick it up anyways? Did they have power bracelets in that game? How did he swing it? It's so bizzare.

And then he swings it to his back, and it disappears into hyperspace.

I think that when I was about 10, first playing Ocarina of Time and I attacked a chicken too many times was the biggest WTF I ever had I mean where do the others all come from?

I think I just remembered a different one of mine. In TP, when you defeat the Twilight part (collecting the tears) on Lake Hylia and the Zora Domain and you must talk to Lanayru after you get them all. I enjoyed the scene but the end of the scene was just...seriously WTF. Link was enjoying it a little too much to me.

in link's awakening (I'm playing it right now), a couple things that are just weird:

1. the chain chomps in the village. wtf, they're not dogs...
2. the part in the first dungeon where you go down some stairs and suddenly it's side scrolling and there are goombas! I was so confused at first.

i really love the game so far, I have a feeling there are going to be some more wtf moments later.

Hehe, I won't spoil anything, but
the whole game is a WTF moment when you realize it's all a dream after beating it
. The abundance of Mario references is hilarious though, and strangely enough works. Oh, there are enemies called "Anti-Kirby"s. Watch out for 'em.

Yeah, one of my favorite wtf moments was in Majora's Mask with the guy that was in the toilet in the Stock Pot Inn. That was so... just wow. You talk to him, and all you hear is "Awwwoow!" And he asks you for paper. If you give him some, he's all like "yay!" and gives you a piece of heart. 0_o

Oh, you mean this? Serious WTF moment at 3:51.

I also found the mult-colored Tingles of WW to be a bit strange. Then there was Salvatore, who yelled "Sploosh!!" and "Kabooom!" during his little game, event though he looks like a boring, dismal person.

Seriously... Dead Hand immensely scared me when I first saw him. Especially the implication from where he shows up- in the Shadow Temple, which is probably a massive tomb. There are ReDeads in there too- maybe he's a reanimated corpse, too? In any case, it's interesting to think about.

I have to say that when you first go into the moon at the end of MM qualifies. That... was not what I expected to see in there at all, and those kids were freaky. Also, the method of transporting the Deku princess. I did not expect that to actually work.

This is a personal one, but there was a huge "WTF" moment for me when I got to the second boss in Twilight Princess.

For obvious reasons.
*Points at name*

Another moment was playing Four Swords with a friend and...I still don't know if this is a glitch or if it's built into the game or something, and my searching didn't result in any luck, but regardless of what it was caused by, on my screen my friend was doing something entirely different from what they were actually doing.

Blind from ALttP was another moment like that.
I mean, that princess was pretty sketchy in general, but it was still pretty crazy that she turned into a monster-thing. That was pretty cool, though, especially with the random reference to Blind by that guy in Kakariko Village.

Ooh! The first time I saw an Oocca, I was all like "Dude, it's a chicken with a human head.....WTF?! Does it have breasts?!" Also in Majora's Mask, when you play the Oath to Order and the four giants come to the rescue and hold up the moon. When I first saw them, I was like "Thats's rather weird looking..."

The Four Giants were the oddest things ever. They were jawless heads with legs and arms.

Hmm. Ganondorf had green skin and orange hair, the Giants have orange skin and green hair. Hmm.

Er, wasn't this in Link's Awakening (or one of the Oracle games)? I remember there being a toilet thing in the Inn in Majora's Mask but nothing ever came out of it!

Yeah, the hand returned in Oracle of Ages, as did so many characters from OoT and MM.

It's interesting to note how the Oracle games borrowed characters from the N64 games, but creatures from the NES/SNES games, besides Twinrova and probably a couple others. Though Koume and Kotake could probably be considered characters rather than enemies.

It's in Ages that you're thinking of, but if you go to the toilet in MM at around 12:00-12:30 at night or so (?), there's definitely the hand there as well.

A milk bar that's only open at night. Members only no less. I mean wtf, it's just milk. What's even stranger is that you have to wear a silly hat to get in.

My biggest WTF was in Phantom Hourglass. I was attacking a random chicken when suddenly, it turned red and about 20 chickens started attacking me. It was pretty weird, mainly because I was trying to pick up the chicken.

Have you never done that in A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Oracle of Ages, Seasons, Four Swords Adventures, and The Minish Cap?

Never played any of those. Well, I did play OoT, but I did that after PH, so I didn't hit any chickens.

Well, once (and if) you do buy them, go around hitting as many Chickens as possible. :chuckle:

The chickens are pretty mad, but the pigs in TWW are SERIOUS BUSINESS. Especially the fat black one. Beast Ganon got NUTHIN

The chickens in TP are pretty weird though. I randomly started attacking one because I felt like doing so, and suddenly I was controlling it o_O
Maybe the chickens just want to put link in their shoes after all these years of abuse.
