Ok I watched the video... And it's french detective time!

I participate a lot on jeuxvideo.com and I believe that it's just bull****. The first claim that presumably leaked Richter and K.Rool was something just forged, it's rather easy to do by modifying the HTML code... It's only you that see it, of course, but that's an easy screenshot to do then. But there was a flaw in a second screenshot made as a proof: a space has been added before a Colon, right after "Il y aura en persos jouables".

Secondly, I know that the 18-25 boards are really really active on "JVC" but why the hell that leaker wouldn't stop by on the SSBU forums? Even the "console war" board would have been a more logical place to put it. (yes, we do have a console war board... And that's troll-filled to the brim).

Finally, the content. It's truly fishy. Not because of the characters themselves, but mostly because... Strangely that's characters we talk about a lot on the SSBU boards. Obviously Isaac is just a fan favorite everywhere, and we do have devoted fans as well. Skull Kid is basically a meme on our board at that point, considering how pointeless debates about him are... But Medusa? We happen to talk quite a bit about her. I admit it's a bit because of me, but not only... We tend to mention Ayumi when talking about retro characters as well, but not that much.

What tick me off is mostly Reimu and the Mother content... See, we have one guy here on the boards who loves three things: Skull Kid, Mother and Touhou. And let's say he is... Really pushy about it. No to say annoying. If I said that Skull Kid is a joke at that point, he is part of this (although people against SK do add to that joke).

But a french leaker who claim that there's Giygas as a boss (something he'd like), Ninten as an echo, Skull Kid as a newcomer and last but not least Reimu? Two possibilities: Either it's this dude (he claim it's not him) or it's just someone else trolling, basing his list on our board. I'd dare to say it's the second option, as the other guy is also the kind to believe that there will be something like 15 new characters...

Also, we are basically mocking it on the SSBU forum on JVC... The only thread we have is basically "Who did it?", so you can imagine how much we take that seriously...

Well thats good we have a french insider in our mist. I had a strong feeling it was fake, but I would have kinda loved Reimu in smash lol

I really don't believe in all these leaks (or at least I despise em) and personally I find em stupid. I guess it's really hard for many to be patient when it comes to these big games to the point where some random individuals like to create chaos by making these so-called leaks...
I'm personally just enduring the torture of avoiding it all and just being patient. At this point, I just want Phosphora and Medusa to be revealed already so some of that can be put to rest.

If either for some reason don't make it, I'll still have a buffed Pit by my side, with his gold outfit still intact.

Same here. It's fifty-fifty for Medusa, to me. It either happen or not happen, and both possibilities makes sense.

And while they were two obvious newcomers, I have Inklings and Isabelle, and I'm really really looking forward the new Zelda.

Actually, Mewtwo became playable in the same game that trophies were introduced to the series which is Melee. So Mewtwo's first appearance in a Smash game was as a playable character.



I also think Geno, Shadow, and Dixie Kong are locks for this game. I also hope we get Shantae as well.

Plus people who ask for Hades of Viridi: they were just 1 game characters, and while I see Viridi coming back I don't see Hades. Plus Hades as a boss just makes much more sense for him personality wise. Medusa would be better as playable.

I have to agree with Machete.. however, as I've said before, the Castlevania Medusa does mean there are snake hair animations.. which would make it even easier to add KI Medusa.

I also don't know if Medusa is locked.. I want to believe she is, but I think there's still a good chance she's not going to be playable and we have to keep that in mind. Yes she has a lot of things going for her and her inclusion would make a lot of sense, but it doesn't guarantee her unfortunately..

I really wish she could just be revealed already so we don't have to worry about it anymore lol

I would say there's much more evidence supporting Dark Samus as being female than there is opposing it. Metroids seem to have genders, or at least something ressembling it since not every one can become a Queen. In addition she may have gotten some female DNA from Samus, AND all pirates use female pronouns to describe her, whether under her control or not. The last one is especially notable, since you'd think she'd correct them quickly if that was not the case.

Know how it was brought up that Medusa could be the leader of the group of villains if rumors are true about Spirits. My idea is if she gets in that Medusa is the leader of the group of villains (Bowser, Bowser Jr., Ganondorf, King Dedede, King K. Rool, Mewtwo, Ridley and Wolf) only for Ganondorf to decide to betray her (He could be similar to Hades to her in Uprising) and start leading but due to Bowser not trusting him convinces some of the others to side with him while Ganondorf gets his own side as well. King Dedede however is on no one's side and simply does things on his own which would be very in-character for him to do.

How I'd imagine the teams.

Team Bowser: Bowser Jr., King K. Rool, Medusa (After convincing her and that she can trust him unlike Ganondorf. That and she'd want revenge on him for betraying her)
Team Ganondorf: Mewtwo, Ridley, Wolf

For the bit about Viridi and Hades, it's true that they were only in one game, but so were the Ice Climbers. Still, Hades is better off as a boss, not playable, Viridi kinda a stage background character, but that's not the first time we had a background character be playable (see Dedede in the original Dreamland), but I still think she won't be playable. Outta the KI branch, I'm greatly against Magnus and Hades being playable, the former being a mere sword character with nothing special about him (and that's not counting potentially bringing Gaol into the mix), and Hades is just better off being a boss, period... though an Assist Trophy with the annoyance levels of Resetti would okay.

For Dark Samus, I still think it's better off classified as an it due to the origins, which I rather not spoil, at least I hope I'm right. Regardless, I consider it an entity of some sort.

Now that's something. If the Spirits mode relates to souls, and the Underworld is known to use souls to create monsters and such, perhaps Medusa is there somewhere. I don't remember much, but I do know Hades definitely uses souls to craft things. That's how the Uprising Medusa came to be after all, right?

I can personally imagine too Hades brings Medusa back as second-in-command to lead the villains while he's among the masterminds behind everything with the actual Big Bad is sulking in the shadows.

Eventually Hades could betray Medusa leading to her wanting to get revenge then even managing to recruit some of the villains on her side.

Fanbases of a specific series typically rally after the next most obvious character, and in Kid Icarus’ case it’s Medusa, so it’s normal she is more talked about now than during Smash 4 days.

This is also the first Smash in which people are actively looking for potential clone characters, of which Medusa is also the most obvious among Kid Icarus’ characters.

Hell, back in Smash 4, clones had the same custom moves as their original, which made a Palutena clone more problematic given her gimmick. With that gone now, (and hell, some people want to preserve Palutena’s old customs through a Medusa echo) there’s not many arguments against her, so it’s normal she’s more of a talking point.

I think her prevalence in leaks is also because, unless you believe the only echo fighters remaining are third-party (Ken and Shadow), there’s gotta be some more, and with Isabelle not being an echo, fake leakers gotta bring up what’s next.

It's true that with a little rebranding, people are definitely not as hostile toward clones, and are even asking for (some) more.
Still, it's great to see her being talked about considering that nothing new happened for Kid Icarus since Uprising.

Actually besides that one leak, Palutena was barely mentioned at all.. I barely ever saw anybody talking about wanting Palutena in Smash ( they wanted Magnus from Impact lol )

But go on the hero vs villain theme, Sakurai knows all too well that Medusa is the iconic villain from Kid Icarus, and perhaps maybs she has been intended to be added for a long time which is why shes missing from action, we dont see her in Palutena's guidance, nor is her final battle theme in Smash 4.. But she is there as a trophy, so perhaps Sakurai himself has been planning to resurrect her for this upcoming Smash for a very long time

Hmm, should she get in, I hope they do remix that Medusa/Palu boss battle theme since I think it had problems somewhere, though I wouldn't object to a special Underworld theme remix, featuring the part from Chapter 1's air battle when she first appears as a base, with its nice and slow, yet menacing tempo. For now, I'm just waiting and waiting, though I do want to continue avoiding them leaks just because the spirit in surprise makes things better when it results in cheers.

Long post incoming on my opinion with this new Smash rumor.

Spoiler: October Smash Leak?

Nothing really seems off with this "leak" to me so I'll give this a chance. Back when Sakurai said not to expect too many newcomers I knew to expect the opposite due to Sakurai being a huge troll and a wild card, but on the realistic side I try to keep my expectations in check. While I usually pass off every Smash rumor as fake until I see some gameplay, I won't give this one a quick pass.

I'm sure a lot us expect to get a very few amount of newcomers next but I won't be surprised if this leak came true. Several of the characters mentioned as newcomers all have some sort of "evidence" that suggest they could be in Ultimate. We recently had Meta Ridley and a Yoshi alt revealed which points to a possible Alt costume shop (specific characters like Ms. Pac-Man, Digby and Ninten are counted as newcomers). The Ken leak pic hasn't been proved fake yet so this lines up with this new leak. Also wanted to say like the Switch, Smash Ultimate looks like it's planned to have a long lifespan so even though Sakruai says not to expect much he's most likely going to exceed our expectations with Smash content. I mean this Smash is called Ultimate for a reason, he has so far proved this with the newcomers and returning veterans, 100+ stages, music, who knows what else is in stored for the game.

Again I know to keep expectations at a reasonable level but it wouldn't be unreasonable to believe the supposed leaks info to come true given how Sakurai has had a lot of planning, time and resources to develop Ultimate.

I think Medusa is not only likely, but also a great addition! I love Kid Icarus Uprising as a whole, and even though she didn't seem to be the main villain of that specific game before Hades took spotlight, we gotta remember that Medusa has been here the whole time! She's got seniority on her hands and she would also make for a great echo fighter of Palutena with dark elements if not a unique fighter. All in all, I think her addition would be great to Ultimate and I fully support her! Whether it be for the base game or DLC, I think she's got a pretty good shot at being in. Let's hope for her!
