I see you guys added Kratos, good stuff
Good to see someone else discovered the Konami Code easter egg on the page. Personally I think he looks pretty OP. I don't know why the PMBR decided to let him rip off the opponent's head with his Dthrow. I know it's canon but it'll completely screw over characters that are dependent on their heads for survival.

You're using the nade just to... turn around? There are like 2 ways to turn around and grab out of a run in P:M, it's not necessary to go to such lengths as reversing a grenade and shield grabbing. I think that's what you were saying you were doing, at least...
Well, even though that's probably not what Calvo was talking about, I still think a TC using a turnaround 'nade shield grab could be quite helpful. I've never tried this out, but if the opponent get-up attacks a grenade, does he get hurt or does he invincible through it?

Better than watching Falcon dash dance for 8 minutes/until the opponent approaches.
Falcon-phobia..... Fear of birds or fear of men? :smirk:

Can people speak english and explain their random terms, like SSS. Means absolutely nothing to me.
Here you go! Make that your basic Smash dictionary, 'kay? ;)

Or maybe he just needs better ways to keep people from getting all up on him so easily any time he makes basically any move. And better ways to put the opponent in a bad position rather than having to charge in and hope armor does the job. Armor and power are nice, but generally not as useful as they could be unless he's already got them somewhere they don't want to be and have to fight their way out of it. His improved reach helps with this, but not enough, I don't think.
Yeah maybe we should give him a 4 frame move with invincibility so he can beat grabs

oh wait
invincibility AND superarmor

sucks to be a grab-happy DDD
You know, all this talk of armor and grabs gave me an idea... What if Bowser had certain moves with specifically anti-grab armor a la Peacock's QCF m.P in SG. It's not invincible and it isn't KB, damage, or super armor. It just can't be grabbed. I don't think that would be OP at all. Even though it's a 2D fighter, I already gave the example of Peacock in SG. It would kinda make Bowser an 'armor specialist,' if you know what I mean. :awesome:

Yeah, I wish DDD could just beat nearly everything his opponent does. Just faced Guru's DDD in tournament and there isn't much he can do to fast chars who force him to shield.
This is partly why enjoy playing as D3 so much. Its a fun challenge to work around his ****ty OoS options. Its certainly taught me a lot about spacing, at any rate.

"Project M idle for three minutes will now cause the game audio to fade until an input is pressed. This new Audio Fade feature is a great subtle addition to help bigger smash fests and tournaments to be less hectic environments, as idle games will no longer unnecessarily blare their music."

I still hear Dreamland.

I've been waiting for the team color confirmation for a while now, but I was expecting more than a few passing sentences about them, or at least more pictures...

You will never stop hearing Dreamland. The SSB64 soundfont will be forever ingrained in your head.

my memory is fuzzy (mostly because the times he did do a get up attack, the match was boring as **** l0l)

but yes, iirc, the grenade hits through their getup attack, most of the time however, i got hit by it tooq

That's why you shield, lolz! You run at the opponent, pull out the grenade, and shield, dropping the 'nade at your feet. If the opponent get-up attacks, he gets blown up and you stay safe, and maybe you could even shieldgrab him out of the explosion. :awesome:

Edit: Now I've gotta try this...

the setup i kept getting was

fThrow->Dash->Turnaround Nade->Shield Grab or Normal Grab depending on their response

The best part about the turnaround nade however, is that even if they roll, you can just walk forward and grab them, or walk back a little into them and grab from behind

I once heard the Dreamland theme in the thrumming of a car engine as we were coming back the day after a tournament. Some Eternal Darkness style stuff right there

Oh. I'm aware there's demos out there but I'd prefer to wait until the final product is released until I play it.

I know this is out of left field, but I want to mention this while I still remember it. This is probably my OCD talking (in fact, I'm almost certain it is), but the music on Skyloft, whatever it is, is looped a bit... sloppily. I'd fix it myself, but it cuts out early, not late, and I don't know what the song is, so I can't go download the whole thing. If someone's willing to provide the source, I'd be glad to fix it. I might not be much good at most things, but I can loop music quite competently. I know it's nitpicking, but... hell, I just wanna help however I can, and if that means I clean up the little things like that, then I'll do it.

...wait.
>Better character, isn't the point of the mod to not have clear better characters?
No, the point is to give bad characters the tools to compete.
So bad characters are going to stay bad, except they get a few extra options? And the excessively good characters are going to stay ahead of the rest of the cast? Because no. I've already ranted about this, and I will rant about it again if I must. (╯°Д°)╯ ︵ ╯(.□.╯)
If that's not the case, and I'm misunderstanding you, then I'm sorry. However, if that isn't the case, then you may want to reword your statement, because that's what it sounds like you're saying.

On that note, regarding the Ike balance discussion that may or may not have been ended at this time: I don't know how you professionals handle fighting him, but in the experience of me, a normal player, he certainly seems to be quite broken. I know this game isn't being made for casuals, I understand that, but that's just my two cents on the issue. And for balancing him, I'm not entirely sure what this 3-frame deal is with QD, but I agree with reducing the distance it travels.

Ike's really good. He's not... idk like he's got incredible tools. All I can say is thank god he doesn't hit faster or we would be screwed. I think the main thing people feel is that he's a very forgiving character in quite a few areas. The main exploits against Ike are abusing his startup limitations, but these are harder to do in neutral situations and so it's usually left to only some of the best characters that can abuse this to stop him. The Shieks that can nab and pick at certain areas. The Spacies who will tend to beat him up close as long as you don't get grabbed. Marth another good example. Etc. There are very few characters like this though imo with the actual capability of reliably and strongly punishing Ike almost regardless of his options, so he's polarizing in that aspect. Because for the few MU's that look against him, there are plenty where his reach or edge guarding or xyz factor is too much and they can't handle it.

The reason bad characters were bad in the first place was because the options that they did have were not up to snuff with the rest of the cast. Improving upon their strengths and giving them more options that compliment these strengths is what the project is doing so that they can compete.

It's the trailer music for LoZ: SS. I personally use the LoZ 25th Anniversary Orchestra's Goddess Theme. It's much better quality and it provides a more reasonable looping point. Actually, I left the trailer Goddess Theme on Skyloft and used that song I named above on BF.

@leafbarret and joe!: you guys make it sound like we are aiming to make characters 50-50 in terms of matchup. That is not the case. You guys probably know thats impossible. Even if a character has a 90-10 matchup, we most likely won't do much about it because pm has a pretty big roster and changing the matchup against one is practically changing the matchup against the rest of the cast. We won't know what kind of fluctuation it will have.

And there will be tiers eventually. So yes, technically, smiley face is right. We can't just say "this character is top tier material" when many of the characters aren't even brought to their potential yet. We have an idea how top tiers are like, but accidetal top tiers will definitely happen. If a character happens to be viable but not as effective as the rest of the cast, we may still leave him/her alone.
