Okay, how 'bout, Kirby has super low traction as a Stone?
Combined with instant transformation on the ground, it'd make for a fair defensive maneuver, as the hits could send Kirby far enough away that he'd be hard to punish while transforming back. Wouldn't help him regain momentum, but it could reset to neutral, which is better than nothing.
It could also be used offensively, by initiating it during a dash to use the faster startup, then sliding off a ledge to fall on the opponent. It could even be given a hitbox during - and in the direction of - a slide. That could give him some interesting stage and team mechanics.
Holding down could make him as immovable as normal, when desired, like to avoid getting hit off the ledge and plummeting to death, or to stop a slide at a specific place for spacing, or just for mixups.

Another direction could be to make un-transforming instantaneous, making it more useful offstage. Although Kirby already has a lot of good off-stage options (or they would/will be if he wasn't/when he isn't terrible in general).

Better idea, instant transformation into and out of stone in the air, but delayed transform out of it on the ground. This makes it half useful for attacking, and if you have good reflexes, you can stop yourself before hitting the ground, but it makes ****ups punishable as ever.

Using stone as a defensive option seems really stupid compared to the shield though, no matter how many invincibility frames it has.

Kirby's down-B not the kind of move you can get away with planning on paper. It's one of the more unique moves in smash. It has a LOT of potential and the PM:BR should take their time exploring the uses and possibilities.

The first thing I'd do to Kirby's Down-B is make it function like just a kirby game:
-Same frames (they'd actually be within a reasonable range of a foes expected reaction time)
-Have Kirby not stop in mid air when he exits.
-logical damage and perhaps knockback that rises the longer he falls. (this would help to avoid quick/easy spam)
-Maybe a gimmick like no KBG.. or only KBG.
-Having Kirby able to run, use it, and slide a bit to damage people if possible. Though that might require another animation for use while running.

After having a ball with that piece of art I'd move on to balancing it in different ways to see what works best and makes it a useful and uniquely used move.
In Kirby games it only functioned reasonably as an attack. Whether to stick to that idea or not would be a debate through testing.

Edited: for pink, because kirby.

me like the idea of stone sliding a bit more on slopes + little to no lag coming out of it so he could punish immediately after sliding into an enemy (stone-cancel>bair)

also allowing to instantly counter attack anyone who hits him during stone (or stone-cancel>waveland>grab). and granting him better aerial stone mindgames

-Faster Stone entrance animation
-Faster Stone exit animation
-Stone fall increases in knockback the longer it is falling
-Going into Stone conserves momentum
-Stone exit animation doesn't make Kirby hang in air
-Stone is jump-cancellable when something hits it

What do people think of that?

Have you played Return to Dreamland? What about a Smash Stone (i.e. different stones depending on the stick movement, like with Samus' missiles)? Bigger, deadlier, more startup.

Um, it's pretty early in the morning on Easter Sunday. I'm gonna guess a lot of people are spending time with their families.

JC on it might be kind of weird, but I like the rest of these suggestions.

You guys are also forgetting another buff for Kirby. Make him be able to have Ricky the hamster as one of his rocks like in Kirby 64. :bee:

Kirby is very similar to Fox:

They have the same Utilt
They have the same Ftilt
They have the same jab
They have the same Usmash
They have the same Fair
They have the same Dair
They have the same Bair
Both their downB's make geometric shapes

Please keep all of this in mind when working on Kirby.

The kirby games were all centered around sucking in enemies. I think we should focus on the inhale move.

For example, when kirby sucks in fox, he gets his lasers AND his Usmash does more damage. Or Uair does more damage.
Another example could be when kirby sucks in sonic, he gets sonics homing attack, AND increased run speed. Just a thought.

Sucking up Fox could give Kirby Fox's shine. Imagine how funny it'd be for Kirby to shinespike someone. And unlike Fox, he wouldn't be limited to a double shine.

Anyone from the BR have an estimate of how much free space we'll need on our SD cards for demo 2? I wanna make sure I'm ready on the big day.

^ that is a really good idea. It would make so that when kirby is without any ability, you would want to inhale the enemy as primary goal, rather that just getting a move. This would also help kirby's slow attacks and speed (because almost everyone is faster) so making him go faster would no longer be an issue.

If this is a feasible idea it's a pretty damn good one. I can't imagine it being easy to code though...

lol ya it does seem it would glitch the ****** out of the game but it would be great if we could do something similar to it.

So no disrespect or anything, but would it kill you to use just about any other color font for your posts? It's damn near impossible to read anything your write.

Yeah, I used to use your font color but it was very difficult to read for others. I can still read it fine, though, but if you want to change it, Royal blue is a pretty good color. :p

Also, I'm curious about what trojanpooh asked. How much space would be needed on the SD card? I have some files on all my cards I believe, so I might need to clear some data off of them. Might just save everything to my external HDD, though.

Dk's best special is definitely Giant Punch.
Spinning Kong on neutral b is useless cuz you can't do it OoS. :(

It would be pretty funny to see Kirby humping the ground to do DKs down-b.

Though I agree it has to be giant punch.

I don't really like the idea of up-b's being stolen with Kirby for some reason....

I'd think go with Ganon's sideB instead of downB. It's just so much cooler. Plus, I like the idea of Kirby grabbing them by the neck.

We likely can't give Kirby Ganon's side-b as that would require an additional grab action.
Or probably many of these suggestions especially projectile ones.

I do like the idea of inhale being an important aspect of Kirby's game.

If nothing else, the abilities he copy should be superior to the originals. i.e. Kirby's falcon punch comes out significantly faster; allowing him to use it for combos.

Wolf's Nair still the spinning multihit thing?

That thing seems not so great.

If it is, so be it. Time for experimentation
