I learned how to play very lame and have a decent neutral game from Brawl and I learned spacing from playing Marth in melee and just in general.

Also I die inside whenever this happens. One of our top melee players in our area plays Lucas now in PM and make people salt.

Don't get close to your opponent unless you're sure you can get an attack in. Poor approaching is horrible.
And respect Marth's tipper. There's no nairzard to make that thing free in this game.

Helps that CT Melee is Fox and Marth. Like I went Doc and cried to all the Marth's.

PF only gets away with combos like that because people don't SDI the Dair or Tech them. If you just SDI you don't get hit by the launch hitbox when lucas lands, and if you tech it you don't get hit by another one coming down. Dair is the silly part of lucas that probably should get nerfed but its not that good, just the counterplay requires practice/awareness

Most folks would want melee unless your Evo cause of logistics issues but those numbers may disagree. Nintendo would lean towards smash 4 if they are smart and realize they can use it as a promotional tool as well it being a new game. I personally want to have both especially with player crossover and they can get more numbers but smash 4 seems more possible especially with how Evo always go towards the newest game and they have a one game per series/sub genera as a maingame also as of late since like 2011 they always have a moneyhat game contrary to popular belief.

I'll all up for giving smash 4 a shot at the big stage.
I 100% understand why a lot of melee players feel threatened by smash 4 taking the spot at evo. It happened in 2007/2008, Melee had it one year, brawl the next, and all the hype died. Its sort of a "we earned this spot for this game" sort of thing, even though the whole smash community worked towards it, not just the melee community. I dropped 3 paychecks into the 2013 evo fund, and another 150 into funding player flights that summer because I had nothing else more important at the time to do with the money.
Even though I feel like I've invested so much to getting Melee a spot at evo, I honestly didn't expect us to make it back this last summer so I wouldn't be upset if Smash 4 took it for a while. I probably wont go, but I'd say give the new game a chance. Melee wont die from not getting a spot at evo. Melee wont die from smash 4 getting popular. The only way Melee could possibly die at this point is if the players stop playing it, which won't happen because other than the evo kids and the documentary babbies, almost everyone are old men who are resistant to change and stuck in their ways.
If pm 3.5 and on are godlike amazing, I can honestly see it taking over the competitive scene as the main game over melee, if Nintendo doesn't get in the way of course.

Give smash 4 a chance. With the right ruleset I think it will be a great game to watch and play, other than a few MU's.

Don't you have Neon in your region and what direction do you SDI against it anyway?

I never get far enough in bracket to make it to neon lol, I normally get sent to loser by heysuess or SS round 2 and then maybe win another game or so. SDI's up away or just up, the point is just to not be on the ground when he lands so you don't get the ground bounce and you can Tech the dair. heres a timestamp video of K9 using SDI and a good tech to get out of what would have otherwise been a free up-smash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtxYi4lYiG8#t=118 Neon misses the DJC side-b to tech chase with, but getting tech chased is better than eating an up-smash.
Unless the Lucas in your area is doing the quick repeating DJC Dair infinite then try to SDI left/right to get away from him and just hope he messes up
