On that note, reverse psychology is not something I bother with.
If I need something to do something, I either ask once, or I compel first thing.

Manipulating others is a last resort, for me; people are usually too darn stupid to understand deadly euphemisms/see how far in over their heads they are, anyway.

Better show them, than tell; NO ONE can misunderstand a death threat that is physically all-but-carried out to make the point.

I also tested this myself at the first demo on the Wednesday in June way before that thread was made, and was able to QAC. I tried to post that in the comments but the commenting format is so weird... nothing I sent was actually posted. I probably sent a bunch of partially written/random comments to the moderators, since it wants you to "sign in" as the post button instead of letting you sign in before posting, and it never shows if you're logged in or not. I did write a final comment and send it but by then they might've blocked me, lol

I guess I'm kinda hype for Sm4sh now, though I'll still give some critical thoughts where I find due. My main problem is the fact that as long as it's still floaty, linking moves might remain a low percent-only deal, which would theoretically cripple combo games and gamespeed as single stocks go on. Plus, I hate autosnap and being able to grab the ledge while facing the opposite direction, and not being able to dashdance or crouch during a dash always peeves me since it tends to feel cumbersome. If the devs decide to give me a bit of Melee to hold onto, I might decide to test the waters of a competitive scene.(Not that it matters to them.)

I would like to remind everyone of that time in the tier list thread m2k decided link was top tier and that he had a "basically instant grab" because IE was his sparring partner for a while

or that time he decided ness was S-tier because he didn't jump out of awestin's meteor dairs the several times he was hit with it

M2K is horribly untrustworthy when he doesn't have clear evidence

I believe at one point a commentator called him "someone who would be a horrible scientist". makes extravagant claims based off of nothing at all (again, he basically thinks ness is s-tier because he didn't know that he could just mash jump/upb out of his dair)

The problem with saying that people ride off of gimmicks/fundamental-defying elements is that 1) the metagame is extremely young and MU strats inevitably have to be developed and 2) gimmicks beat out low/mid level players, but lose to actually good players.

I mean, what does this have anything to do with the players who actually win regional/national level tournaments? You know, the ones who possess exceptional adaptability and strong character understanding, and make very intelligent plays?

if you're not using the same character most people have been playing for 13 years you're relying on gimmicks

I think his point is that if you're not good at Melee, where you only need to learn 5 matchups and everything else is fundamentals, and you're successful in PM, there's a chance that might be because no one knows how to deal with your character's stuff. Good players are good in all smash games after all, though obviously not to the same degree because of experience, matchup knowledge and etc.

I think his shots were fired more at the players than at the game. He's still very successful at it after all.

Isn't that what M2K is doing right there? Complaining about some hard match-ups he had, often against non-OP characters while he plays Fox and the godly Mewtwo?

He is still winning and making money playing Project M so it can't be that the match-ups are so damn lopsided that skill doesn't decide the outcome.

And the developers are good at their own game? Isn't that just common sense 101?

Oooopsies M2K, I don't main any characters who are top tier in Melee and most of my MU experience is against characters not in Melee. I guess I suck because Toon Link is super free.

These are traits applying to most of the community, factually.
i.e. Look at the 5 posts above mine.

People being whiny and throwing tantrums because they don't want to put real effort in, and it not being a vocal minority, but MOST of the player base, that is what my problem is with.

Everything else is of no relevance, really.
