That DKC cartoon is full of hilarious songs, like this rap song:

Notice how he handles his balls.... eh coconuts.

I always wonder how much luck is required for a successful speedrun.

I know Cosmo has probably gone through Ocarina hundreds of times, I've seen him streaming it just a few of those. Did this particular run just have everything fall into place with every glitch working correctly by chance or did his collectively gathered knowledge and skill just push his previous record over the edge?
Most of the run was skill and knowledge by Cosmo, but luck did factor in quite a bit as well. He got the best possible RNG for the chickens which was what saved him a tremendous amount of time and then he got extremely lucky and hit the HESS skip at Ganons castle. The luck on those two parts were the biggest time savers that brought about the WR, but any mistake could have ended that so shoutouts to Cosmos skills in OoT due to his many attempts.

Is he going to retire the game now? So many other Zelda games to speedrun (I know he likes Wind Waker) and it seems his world record is safe since he beat his own previous world record in the fastest manner possible.

He said he's completely done with OoT any% which is what he got the record for. He's gonna move on to Ganonless and All Dungeons. As well as focusing on WWHD and his other games (perhaps).

I've been waiting for months for Cosmo to finally get that sub 18:20... and to see him hit that mark with an 18:10 is mind blowing...
As much as I love watching his Any % runs, I've been itching to see him get into some of the other OoT categories.
Here's to the All Dungeons runs now that he's basically conquered Any %.

I think that PM is the best Zelda game to date. When's he gonna start speedrunning it?

Why is a Ganonless run a separate category from a normal Any%?

I thought ANYTHING goes in a speedrun that helps you win the game faster, even skipping the final boss. Seems kinda arbitrary you can skip anything through glitches but the final boss.

Because you need specific items to do ganonless which forces the run to go way over the fastest possible any% time.

If you mean why Any % doesn't skip Ganon and the Ganonless run exists for the purpose of skipping it, the reason is that it's incredibly suboptimal to do the Ganon skip in the first place. Performing the Wrong Warp to post-Ganondorf is the currently known fastest way to complete the game. Performing Wrong Warp to credits requires a completely different warp (IIRC, Dodongo's Cavern boss room) and setup to reach it.

EDIT: Dammit

Ganonless is done with Eyeball Frog Wrong Warp after defeating Volvagia in the fire temple.

No, he played Sheik. He beat my Link game 1 and then I beat him the next two with Ivysaur. This was in 2.5.

Specifically regarding why Ganon-less runs are a thing despite being a less efficient way to beat the game than Any %:
Ganon-less used to be the fastest way to run the game, prior to more discoveries being made that lead to the current Any % run. Had this not been the case, I would honestly doubt that Ganon-less would have been made a category of its own. Other categories like MST (requiring the player to actually do every dungeon, hence the name Medallions/Spirits/Trials), No Wrong Warp, Glitchless, etc. are just less arbitrary in the restrictions and just make more sense as to why said category would have been made in the first place. But because Ganon-less was an already established route, being the former Any % route, a lot of people just decided to keep running that route.

Makes sense, especially given that you need near-perfection or a significant route improvement to beat 18:10. Might as well aim for other route records instead.

@NickRiddle I root for your brother because he goes to USC and came to the SC Upstate to steal our hard earned money play us in gentlemanly games of P:M and Melee to show our players how to better ourselves. So devastated when you won.

I'm just glad that the P:M backroom is giving a full year of tournaments before making changes. It makes sure that the meta develops a bit. Honestly I think that the P:M backroom every year should buff the most underpowered or underused characters, and every 2 years nerf the broken/janky mechanics. (some bugs should be kept in if they are helpful to a characters meta without being disruptive, pls keep nana porting in!!!). Obviously if and when power creep becomes an issue more nerfs can occur.
@NickRiddle

Doesn't ESAM go to Clemson?

Is one piece any good now a days?
Depends. If you're okay with the whole "find new place > meet new people > meet bad guy > flash back > crew separated > 1v1s everywhere > Luffy beats the bad guy > big party > leave place > find new place" loop being repeated until Oda dies, then yes. I mean it's the same as it's always been, so if you have liked it before there's no reason you shouldn't like it now.

Unless you're talking about the anime then no and it will never be.

One Piece has always been a villain of the week anime with basically no plot. You can't really expect anything else from one of the most enduringly popular shounen serials ever.

Shout out to Samurai Champloo. I held off on it for a pretty long time and now I feel like an idiot for letting myself do that.

I think the One Piece anime might be entertaining if they didn't purposefully make the pacing total **** so that Japanese audiences would have an episode to watch every single week of the year.

Recently in the Adult Swim run they had that big Aqua Lagoon event happening, skipped a few weeks and to my shock the storm still hadn't hit and they were still looking for their lost crewmates stuck in buildings.

What should be one or two episodes takes 5 or more.

That's the fault of the anime though. Particularly, it's the fault of many an anime that are pulling from a currently running manga.
They can't use the same pacing as the manga because they can't allow themselves to catch up to the manga (and frankly, pacing that makes sense in print often just doesn't work at all when it's applied to the screen). That's why we get certain scenes and even entire arcs stretched out to the ends of the earth. And we're not even getting into the existence of filler arcs.

Filler arcs are the way to go if they refuse to order fewer episodes per year for shorter seasons.

I know people constantly ***** about them, but I rather see interesting character-centric stories that depart from the manga than ruining the pace of everything to slow things down.

And with One Piece, you couldn't tell the difference between filler and non-filler anyway.

i think there's a 2014 version or something??
Sub for sure.

There's a 1999 version and a 2011 version that's ongoing but will soon end roughly in September, as it's catching up to the manga. I'd advise you watch the entire 1999 version, including the Greed Island OVAs, and then pick up from where the 1999 version left off with 2011's episode 76.

Been playing Harvest Moon recently. For some reason this stupid Smash 4 "Intro line" got stuck in my head.

I got about 10 or so episodes into Samurai Champloo and I got bored and gave up. I really wanted to like it because Cowboy Bebop is one of my favourite shows ever, and I freaking love Space Dandy, but it just didn't gel with me.

Then again I don't watch much anime, so maybe Samurai Champloo stands out better when you compare it to other animes.

I need to read all those guides about TOing. I know there is a scene here. We just need tournaments.
The best advice i could give is to be organized, and be loud. Its not hard to TO. Unless you're talking advertising/finding venues, because that is hard as balls.
