That's the one thing I hate about P:M.

Too many MUs to learn.

It's like I'm ****ing playing SF4, but the MUs are infinitely more complex. .___.

Don't ever play MOBA's then ha.
I play League, Dota 2, and Smite. The amount of matchups in just one of those games is pretty insane, let alone trying to be good at them all.

tbh my highest-level understanding of TTT2 is that someone I follow on twitter got 2nd place @ evo basically because nobody ever really learned the MU for the team he brought out suddenly because why would you try to learn jinpachi/t.ogre when he was the only one who plays them

Mobas are boring, but I can't deny Riot Games is doing a hell of a good work when it comes to E-sports.
I wish somebody did that to Smash and did not fail their kickstarter horribly. :yeahboi:

At least your not playing Tekken Tag 2
That game is rough
Lol i actually forgot about TTT2.

**** that makes the problem even worse lol.

I take it you saw his games at EVO (was it? or was it SCR?)

That **** was super clutch, but it was hilarious. The same **** happened in SCV last year (at evo again i think?) where a supposed "low tier" character showed up out of no where to take the tournament.

Honestly, I'm miserable while playing mobas more often than I'm having fun.
And I feel like that's the general experience from most players who play them.
Yet I find myself hooked regardless.
Been playing them for years, so in a way it feels like I'm just in too deep.
I had a similar experience to Smash. I stopped having fun playing Smash, but still played because it was just what I had done for so long. At least my love of Smash got reignited though after a couple years.

it's why I love 1v1 fighters tbh

like
everything's on YOU, and you alone. having so few factors outside of yourself means that you can directly figure out what you did wrong, and when you do it right, it's so satisfying, because it was all you, and oh man, you did that and it was rad as hell

So I finally got a Dazzle. I'm going to now start recording my little group of newbies I'm training along with recording my own play. Because I have barely any Project M footage available, I decided I may as well post a video of my Zard playing some CPU's I recorded with the Dazzle tonight.

Couldn't figure out how to get sound. So I put music over it. Mute the music if it's not your taste.

Will probably post a similar video of my Falcon later. My Charizard is better I think, but Falcon has a moonwalk, so yeah...

I'm not sure what all it entails so it's not set in stone, but I've been considering organizing a tourney (even if small) to boost the tourney scene in my area. From what I know, the Southeast tourney/smash is pretty scarce compared to areas like NW and SW and Texas.

If anyone knows which direction to point me in, or where to send me for advice on organizing this sort of thing, I'd be grateful.

Also, I don't know how much casual play goes on between actual matches, but it's been a long time since I sat down with some people I've met IRL and had a blast just messing around in Smash. The last time that happened for me was probably.... 7 years ago? Well, technically I had ONE irl friend when I moved to Tennessee who'd play Brawl with me on occasion, but... anyway, I digress. Point is, I've been thinking about this for a while and I'd like to at least try to help the scene.

Sometime's it's simply just up to you to create and build a scene if you're lacking one.

There are so many smashers around you (general, not specifically you), that the assumption is made that the scene will make itself.

That's not true lol.

You've gotta be the one to step up and make some sacrifices for what you love.

oh hey pokemon xy is fun, wonder if smogon has any metagame happenings yet

...literally half of the posts is "hey this new thing might be cool" followed immediately by "no it's useless give up now"

...I just thought adapting was a more popular thing in games that aren't fighting games??? what in the hell

If you're looking for creativity in Pokemon, on Smogon no less, you're damn out of luck.

You mean to tell me that people on the internet are trying to refute points without any evidence to back them up?
Shocker.

But in all seriousness, it's hard to really expect much from competitive X and Y for the time being because we don't have access to the Poke Bank yet.
For all we know there will be even more Pokemon with changed base stats, egg move combinations, more hidden abilities that were changed from V to VI, etc. and we can't really know until we can actually get everything into gen VI.

well I didn't expect them to be so... allergic to change. I just saw a topic of "here's these crazy ideas you could make out of misty terrain", and then there's one post that's just "stupid gimmick bs won't work get out" without any explanation

? ?? ? ?? like what. do smogon users do this with everything, do they quit all cooking when one of their cupcakes gets a little bit burnt, do they leave their partner mid-coitus when they don't bone in the right way the first time

no stop this now before it gets too far
we've had enough pokemon here for one thread

on another note, is peaches uair supposed to move her down everytime she uses it? I noticed this during her float, doesn't matter how you input it, up+A or cstick up, her Uair seems to move her down, enough that her lowest float only can uair twice before she moves down to the ground from it despite having plenty of time for a third one in her float.

Calling things "gimmicks" in Pokemon has happened since the beginning of time, it's only when they're proven to work that people say otherwise.

You'll still have people on Smogon call stuff like proven successful Trick Room teams nothing but gimicks that got lucky.
75% of Smogon is pretty toxic ha.

To be fair, it's difficult to prove that something is more than just a gimmick.

I'm no expert at competitive Pokemon, but I'm trying to see Helioisk's viability as a wall. He's a relatively speedy electric type and he has access to moves like Parabolic Charge, Electrify, Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Surf, Dry Skin ability, and of course Substitute and Toxic. Its half-normal type hurts it though.

Yeah seriously enough with pokemon lol.

Also Smogon is ****ing TERRIBLE. They seriously banned anything competitive about Smash Bros on their boards.

They're almost as bad as competitive dissidia.

imo smogon has the best gaming community in terms of dealing with other members overall. every gaming community is toxic to some degree but i'd rather interact with math nerds than people that don't bathe (every other game lol).

and i think trick room is a gimmick too. good teams with balanced speed tiers will still generally beat TR teams assuming equally capable players. forfeiting a turn to go first a few extra turns is a decent trade-off until you get taunted and fold, but there's not much of a reason to pick something that has a win rate known to be gimped at higher levels of play. see: baton pass.

OK WHY do Serebii and Smogon ban such discussion on their boards?

i think most people are good at 1-2 things, mediocre at a few more, and terrible at everything else (or haven't tried it). i try to be good at everything i do, which definitely has its good points and bad points. we're all human at the end of the day.

even mew2king.

Why are we talking about M2K's dating life and making gender generalizations when we could be talking about Espurr or something
