lol at trying to dictate the direction the social thread moves in
in a way it defeats the point of a social thread
like, it's not like you have to participate in every single discussion that happens in the social thread
trying to tell people to stop talking about something they feel like talking about, in a social thread no less, is a little silly

Jaja Smogon is so hypocritical.
So...uh...Is Dragalge viable now that there's evidence its hidden ability is Adaptability?

You mean to tell me that people on the internet are trying to refute points without any evidence to back them up?
Shocker.

But in all seriousness, it's hard to really expect much from competitive X and Y for the time being because we don't have access to the Poke Bank yet.
For all we know there will be even more Pokemon with changed base stats, egg move combinations, more hidden abilities that were changed from V to VI, etc. and we can't really know until we can actually get everything into gen VI.

I'm just going to bring over all of my competitive pokemon from Black/White to X/Y because my Nidoking, Starmie, and Ferrothorn will gauranteed still be OP as hell.

To be fair, it's difficult to prove that something is more than just a gimmick.

I'm no expert at competitive Pokemon, but I'm trying to see Helioisk's viability as a wall. He's a relatively speedy electric type and he has access to moves like Parabolic Charge, Electrify, Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Surf, Dry Skin ability, and of course Substitute and Toxic. Its half-normal type hurts it though.
Try Eelektross. He's pure Electric and has Levitate. No weaknesses, completely immune to ground which stuffs Earthquake builds(****ing Excadrill), and three decent resistances.

Lanturn is also a really good choice for an electric tank because of it's 125 base hp, he can get volt or water absorb, has 5 resistances with 3 of them being very good to have, has access to stuff like Discharge(30% chance to paralyze multiple pokemon in 2v2 and 3v3), thunderbolt(stronger than discharge, but only hits 1 pokemon with a 10% paralysis chance), Heal Bell, which can remove status effects on your whole team!, Ice Beam, Surf (100% hit rate on all pokemon on the field, really good if in team battles the other pokemon you have has Dry Skin). Lanturn is so beast in teamfights it's basically unfair.

Yeah I have to agree with Umbreon, Smogon's community is pretty good as far as they go.

Nidoking is OP? I always thought it was one of those Pokes that got the short end of the stick, battle wise.

I do wonder how Starmie will fare this generation, mostly due to Defog's buff creating new competition for hazard removal. Defog removes your own hazards in addition to the opponent's, but it can't be blocked and that seems like a pretty fair trade.

Starmie could still be plenty useful IF DRIZZLE is still king. Analytic Starmie, in rain, with Hydro Pump/Surf is an asshole

Nidoking is OP? I always thought it was one of those Pokes that got the short end of the stick, battle wise.

Nidoking build:

EV: 252 SpA - 252 Sp - 4 hp (IVs maxed in SpA)

Ability: Sheer Force(dreamworld) - If any damaging ability has a secondary effect, it will remove that effect in exchange for 30% extra damage. Chance of poison, paralyze, burn, freeze, confuse, whatever.

Held Item: Life Orb - damaging attacks deal 30% more damage at the cost of 10% hp per attack.
Sheer Force considers the Life Orb to be another additional effect, and removes it. So basically Life Orb no longer damages you and you deal even more damage.

moveset: Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and either Sludge Wave OR Earth Power (these moves get STAB bonus on top of all the other bonuses already piled on top. Sludge Wave hits harder in normal cases but Earth Power actually super effective hits things, your choice, they're both good.) Either way the three elemental moves have a attack rating of 90, Sludge Wave 95, Earth Power 80.
If you REALLY wanna go ballz to the wall, you can increase your accuracy with something else and baton pass and get Fire Blast, Blizzard, and Thunder instead, but I wouldn't recommend it. The regular 100% accurate moves already 1 shot Excadrill and Blaziken.

All moves are special, so you don't get hit by dumb **** like Rocky Helmet and the assortment of abilities that damage opponents on contact.

Lots of other really greats pros to this build.

Nidoking is still far from OP, since Blissey/Chansey wall the hell out you, and it gets checked by anything faster. Starmie's Pursuit bait and gets walled by Ferro, and everyone's out to get Ferro by running HP Fire/carrying Magnezone.

Try Eelektross. He's pure Electric and has Levitate. No weaknesses, completely immune to ground which stuffs Earthquake builds(****ing Excadrill), and three decent resistances.
Most Excadrill this gen are running the bulky Rapid Spin set with Mold Breaker anyway, since he 2HKO's every spin-blocker after a Swords Dance. Levitate won't save you.

Yeah, and according to Serebii so far, Nidoking has seen a +10 boost to his base Attack. It might be enough to break him in to OU this time around (considering only a handful of Kalos Pokemon are gonna be in OU).

No more perma weather makes me doubt that rain will be as dominant.
You get five or eight turns depending on whether or not you use a weather rock. Five turns isn't really enough time to support teammates, as the rest of your team can have three turns max to use the weather. Eight turns is definitely better, but you give up Leftovers/Choice/whatever to get it.
I think rain and sand will still be strong, especially because I don't see Swift Swim + Drizzle being a huge problem without perma rain, and guys like Excadrill without perma sand isn't as strong. Sand also has the bonus of TTar being fantastic on his own as usual.
Not so sure about sun as both Ninetales is... well Ninetales... and MegaZard Y hits like a truck on his own but isn't exactly supporting other sun users with only five turns of weather. That's assuming you are supporting MegaZard Y properly which I'm not sure is worth it yet.

Hail... well hail is basically even worse ha. Both Hail summoners just have way too many problems and Hail the weather itself doesn't give as many advantages as other weathers. Especially now that you can't run Hail stall sets.

Speaking of games I don't know why people play, Jagex managed to make Runescape into the most horrible game. I logged in yesterday since many years ago and apparently might have to sell everything I have to get enough money (7 mill) to trade in for just a 14 day Membership to play the 2007 runescape for some nostalgia..under an entirely new account.
