What's the point in asking for people's opinion if you're not gonna take them seriously ?
because you have common sense and you can tell the difference between ridiculous things and proper feedback? that's something you need to learn as a competent game designer, and I'd kind of hope sakurai falls under that label

Hell yeah Canon, if professional players are winning too much with campy styles of play with certain characters but not others that might be something to look into before it's too late.

Smash is many things to many people but balance is key. Namco helping out in the playtesting isn't going to find and solve every issue.

True. They can take a lot of things from those matches. Though seeing Fox land an up-smash on Megaman at over 100% and he still lived...

Maniacal super-villain laughter could not even begin to illustrate my reaction to that.

So, it felt like I was watching a sequel to Brawl. I know its not finished yet, but I'm at least happy for fans of Brawl that they got a sequel to the game they loved. I'm glad Nintendo acknowledged the competitive scene and put this tournament on and are actively trying to balance the game.

That being said watching the tournament decreased my hype level. Everything still feels really ...Brawl. Which is fine for fans of the game, and it looks great for everyone who wants new characters, stages and items. They've clearly put a lot of work into putting tonnes of wackiness into the game. It's just...I feel like they could have put the engine from Melee into the game, and it would have pleased everyone. Casual fans wouldn't know the difference. At least this won't replace Melee. Though I think Brawl's days are numbered (only because the new game seems to play so similar).

Its pre-emptive but it looks to me that combos aren't really a thing anymore in this game. What's great about Melee and P:M is they have such a free-flowing combo system, that's reactionary, and quick. There's no imputing a combo and watching it play out, its reacting to your opponents DI and knowing the spacing of your moves. Where the sour and sweet spots are so you can either get more damage or knock them off the stage. Its beautiful to watch how creative people can be with their combos.

Sorry for my rambling. I know many of you have come from a Brawl background, and that's perfectly fine. I'm happy so many people are excited for this game, I really am. It's just no longer the game I fell in love with. Its something else now.

did anyone else seem to notice that air dodging into the ground had lag? and a ton of it. like 15 frames at least.

More lag than Brawl. The air dodge landing lag has more landing lag than Brawl.
I think that Smash 4 has KB and damage decay like in Brawl.

having more landing lag than brawl isn't hard considering that was only 2-4 frames

At least P:M won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Smashes and systems come and go, but Project M is forever.

They can give the masses Smash 4 and it will sell like hot cakes and Wii U's will fly off the shelves just like they are for MK8.
And then they can give us Melee HD. Add online.
Everybody's happy. Everybody wins. Hooray.

Oh, and FZero GX HD. I ALMOST WANT THIS ONE MORE THAN MELEE HD.

The thing is that the 3ds version's release date is too close to the Wii U versions' release window. One might end up cannibalizing the other sales wise.

In other news, I have a gif request.

Can someone make me a gif of Little Mac's OHKO punch on the luma?

my Smash 4 Hype

before invitational: 8/10
after invitational: 6.5/10
Wii fighters announced: 2/10

Seriously tho, Nintendo should really consider some feedback from the invitational players. No reason why Hbox vs ZeRo should have timed out.

Yeah I think I was hoping that Smash 4 would be something incredible, but in my heart I knew that P:M was already that.

I think I might set up netplay soon if someone you people want to destroy me at this game.

Mario did one badass combo though. He reminded me of PM Mario.

The grand finals and overall gameplay disappointed me. I no longer want to try the demo and will pass on the 3DS version but I'll get it on the Wii U for sure. Instead of going to the demo, I'll be going to the casino! :D

This is literally all I can remember from the Digital Event right now.

Well, aside from Iwata vs. Reggie.

Okay, so this game might actually be more bare-bone than initially thought.. At least how it is in the demo. Some of the things removed are flat-out questionable. But they be taking feedback from competitive player present there, so things are surely to change.

Source pls. I checked the twitters of the people involved, and they all seem too tired to say much about the changes.

With smash4 officially being the disappointment I expected, all my hope for a thoroughly enjoyable smash game rests in PMBR's hands. You could crush my hopes, or you could fix momentum delay and reimplement light shields and melee tethers and make ROB a good character.
No pressure

At least they're listening and looking for feedback now rather than later. 3DS version even got delayed.

As expected, people have made it into a debate about Melee/Melee players instead of Smash 4, and I love the comments that go to the effect "Kirby isn't supposed to have any combos or be able to approach Zero Suit at all, it's a bad match up for a reason!"
Honestly, besides the post I was referring to, it's kinda all booty. Discussion like this bores me to no end. People from both sides just spilling **** all over the place.

To be fair, Brawl was very different in its demo form than the final product. Had l-canceling and a bunch of other stuff. So I'm withholding judgment on the final game until it actually comes out. But if the gameplay we saw today was any indicator, I'm disappointed.
