Why don't you play a good MOBA like DotA2...I just lost 8 games of league in a row
I'm starting what will probably be the ninth, followed swiftly by my being sorted into what I can only assume is Packing Peanuts V
edit: "what do you mean you couldn't carry a warwick top that fed six kills to a fiora in six minutes? you must be bad! it's silver for you!"
Pretty good reason. Oro is pretty great. I'm getting training from him soon! Hopefully it'll help me get good. I've been playing a lot of Falco recently and I think he really fits my aggro play style even better.Yeah it's in June. Oro did a pretty good job selling it to me.

I'm joking DotA is ****ing garbage, but I love it. Is this how hardcore Melee players feel?
I mean if people are coming to Smash 'n' Splash my DM friend is coming and we could do a one-shot on Sunday/Saturday night after pools or something. So when are we doing PMS D&D? I have free time because I made bad life decisions last semester/quarter.
Like seriously my classes are a joke now. I'd be better off like, meditating by myself on a rock.
I have a ton of time to read piano for dummies though hype.
Sounds fun but 8 years old :/
idk I still want to bike into another state, sounds fun.
Don't let Oro train you. He'll teach you how to play fast, mobile female characters and they're lame.Pretty good reason. Oro is pretty great. I'm getting training from him soon! Oh, and I'll be at smash n splash too, of course.
USF4 out of respect. another 3D fighter since theres literaly only one. and hell maybe an anime fighter but melee has been comin to evo for 3 years while a **** load of games have been sitting on the back burner. So what game did you wanna see then??
I'm still 8. I'd need to be in Columbia, have money for bus/hotel/tournament etc. Maybe I'll sell lemonade for money, 8 year old hype.![]()

Are you coming onto me and trying to say I'm old enough? There's no way you're 8 lol

Don't you mean McRibs?welp evo sucks for me this year, 2 smash games and pokken but no SF4. and i don't even like SF4. Mr.Wizard only sees dollar signs in his eyes now
Money talks and this has been the case ever since past 2009.welp evo sucks for me this year, 2 smash games and pokken but no SF4. and i don't even like SF4. Mr.Wizard only sees dollar signs in his eyes now
does this mean that oro is playing pm again?Pretty good reason. Oro is pretty great. I'm getting training from him soon! Hopefully it'll help me get good. I've been playing a lot of Falco recently and I think he really fits my aggro play style even better.

SoSpeaking of Skullgirls, there was this neat USA vs Japan exhibition that happened earlier this month.
Unfortunately, the archived version on twitch is no more and I was only able to find the full set in this channel in low quality.
Thankfully they have a great tutorial and community to help learn you the ropes.skullgirls is such a good game but it's even more deep and imposing than marvel in terms of necessary time investment
so it's really fun to watch but trying to teach it to yourself is hard lmao
I love me some Filia solos with the rare Big Band assistskullgirls is such a good game but it's even more deep and imposing than marvel in terms of necessary time investment

He plays but I see him playing Melee more than PM. He's probably mostly going to be training me in Melee, but I'll probably be playing Falco in both games for a while regardless, and it pretty much all transfers.does this mean that oro is playing pm again?
That was disgusting. Why would you post that in public?
it is notThat last part was meteor cancellable (I think). Should've done footstool -> swag.
You hit, like, 4 different areas of nerd up there.Does 5e do away with enough of DnD's silliness, or is it still shackled to a lot of the same design choices?
Cuz if not, I'll probably end up spending whatever PMS DnD session we do raging over inane design decisions, class imbalances, and general stupid stuff no one is going to care about.
PMDT help you all if we play 3.5e. You'll want to kick me out with all the ******** I end up doing about that system.
WHY THE **** DOES DRUID ANIMAL COMPANION ALMOST ENTIRELY REPLACE A MELEE FRONTLINER
WHY THE **** IS FIGHTER TO DAMN USELESS PAST THE LOWER LEVELS
WHY DOES MONK NEED SO MANY DAMN STATS
WHY IS IT SO EASY TO BREAK THE GAME WITH SPELLS
WHY THE **** ARE ****ING SPELLCASTERS ****ING ****ERS OP AS **** JESUS ****ING CHRIST WHO PLAYTESTED THIS AAAARRRRGGGGHHH.
Pathfinder at least gives everyone some of the bull****, instead of just thetop tiersspellcasters. But it's all still kinda bull****, because so much design and mechanics are just grandfathered in from 3.5e, influenced by 2e, influenced by 1e...which dates back to Chainmail. A miniatures game, mind you. Not a Tabletop RPG in the vein of DnD which it later influenced.
And guess what? Chainmail was meant for large scale tactical combat. DnD is obviously small-scale, focusing on individuals. And yet...things didn't change that much, and all those algorithms and tables still are based off of there, just changed slightly...and not enough.
It's like dealing with legacy codebases, except while everyone can agree 10-year old code is terrible and bad, most people don't actually care about having a good tabletop rpg system. Because often times, the mechanics are either a simple vehicle for the good stuff, or the fun storytelling is happening in spite of the mechanics, even when those mechanics can lead to interesting and hilarious situations. You've got a system with core mechanics built for combat in a miniatures game, in a game where you're supposedly assuming a unique role, leading to numbers and distinctions that seem arbitrary, and elements that are either redundant or useless.
It's like, you want a system that has enough crunchiness to satisfy those that like character progression. But, you don't want that getting in the way of the roleplaying and storytelling-arguably the most interactive and social part of the game as a whole.
Thing is, if you do away with solid mechanics solely in favor of RP, you end up with an vaguely defined system. While this can be nice for certain groups, it can sometimes hamstring and limit the creativity of players who like making creative character concepts and makes it tough for the DM/GM to really decide on what this system is meant to accomplish.
You will, of course, never satisfy everyone, since each group is different. But you want to at least have a passable system that has well-informed design, right? Right?!
Thing is, the amount of people that care enough to think about this is small, so system designers keep basing their systems off of systems before them, often blindly, not fully putting time into understanding why each design decision and mechanic exists the way it does.
It'd be like if we decided on a keyboard to use that intentionally compensated for typewriter jamming and ignored any future developments in computing to allow for possibly more efficient typing and---OH WAIT THAT'S PROBABLY WHAT HAPPENED.
But no one cares, because it's good enough, I guess.
Actually, you could abstract a lot of that above rant to computing, too. How we program, how we use computers, etc. So much is simply done because that's the way it's been done and so many design decisions are simply accepted even though they were made during a time of different tech, and different restrictions.
DnD is fun, and it's mechanics can lead to wacky stuff. But the majority of my fun and the fun of my various play groups has usually occurred in spite of the core mechanics at play, as opposed to happening because of or supported by the mechanics.
I'm more impressed anyone decided to actually read/skim through that rambling mess of text. You hit, like, 4 different areas of nerd up there.
Frankly, I'm impressed.
