So, I'm procrastinating finishing a 10 page paper that's worth 30% of my grade and have *checks* 3 pages to go. I'm really interested in my subject. I'm just tired at 4 AM. My class is at 8:30 and my friend needs to print this for me at 7:30.

Since the pool room doesn't need to be on topic about anything, I'm posting about my own procrastination.

To those who are on SWF at this point, please either encourage or discourage my procrastination, whichever is going to make my brain feel better.

Welcome to the late night proom where drinks are half off and so are my pants.
Where slackers go to practice failing at life and imsoniacs prowl the threads. So loosen up that tie, pull up a chair, and stop writing that paper because 7 pages show that you are non conformist.

Nice. That was actually pretty decent writing. Do you write at all?

And I'm not slacking, I'm...waiting for creativity to well up in my brain. *shrug* I just had more important things to do than writing a 10 page paper up until now.

EDIT: By the way, how sad is it that I replied ASAP?

EDIT2:8 pages...I'm running out of things to say, my brain's dead, I read the book the day before...hmm--nope, I can't come up with any good excuses.

Heh, feels too much like cheating. I'll get it done, though. Two more hours to go and 1 3/4 pages to go ><;;

Your name is Proverbs... Proverbs is a book in the Bible.

Write your paper like the Bible. Incomplete, and open to interpretation. If you get an F, then you can call your teacher a bigot.

That was moderately funny. XD But even so I don't believe the Bible's incomplete or open to much interpretation. The Bible's written in pretty clear language if you ask me. And calling my teacher a bigot wouldn't go over well somehow <.<;;

Oh, come ooon! Even when I was religious I always considered it to be incomplete and open to interpretation!

Ah well-- best not start a debate. Though you could just go in the DH to waste some time. *shrug*

Update: 9 pages.

Yeah, let's not start a debate here.

Hmm...I wonder if it's 9 1/5 (that was supposed to be 1/2. I guess I mixed up 1/2 and .5 Shows how tired I was) pages if that counts as 10 <.<;; I'll aim for 9 3/4 and hope things go well. <.<;; I'm just going to go all out and finish it now, though. I'd like to get a powernap before class ._.

If it makes you feel better I once finished a report that was worth 50% of my mark in the early morning of the day before. Ended up having 3 hours sleep that night. :urg:

^You posted that at 7:08. *nitpicks*

Anyway, don't remind me. I didn't really sleep in between finishing the essay and getting up. I tried to. Failed miserably. Hopefully I won't fail my paper.

But want to hear the funny part? I just got back from my class. I waited there for half an hour (only need to wait 15 minutes) and he didn't show up XD I e-mailed him asking if he wants me to e-mail it to him or just bring in a hard copy for Wednesday. If it's the latter I get a chance to edit it which'll be good, but also more work than I want to do XD We'll see how it goes.

I'm going to answer later. I'm going to take a nap!
That joke was already used!

Dude, Proverbs, that sucks. I hate when I work my *** off, only to find that I had more time the next day. I mean, sure, its somewhat of a relief, but you could have slept, man!

I'm really glad I don't have to write 10 page papers. 5 is enough.

I probably will have to next semester when I take English 1102 >.>

Urgh I do this all the time and leave uni essays for the night before. My last two assignments I completed the day they were due. I do research beforehand though so it's not a complete mad rush.

I always say I'll work on assignments when I get them, but I never do. If I did a small bit day by day it would be so much easier and less stressful. Ah well...

I've got two exams tomorrow. Haven't done any revision at all.

I'm currently having trouble with procrastination at the moment. I usually make myself think of something as being much easier than it is. In actuality, what I tell myself will take maybe a week will consume countless hours of my days. Sometimes something is too easy, so I make it a challenge by giving it a smaller time frame in which it is to be done. This often results in hurting the people around you. Whether it be because you disappointed them in your actions, or you simply "screwed up." The repercussions for procrastination can be harsh. It's usually best to finish something, then participate in whatever activity that was distracting you.

This is probably true in most cases, but the discussion about self-discipline from your wellspring is worth listening to.

"the discussion about self-discipline from your wellspring is worth listening to."

Really confused about what my wellspring is. Is that a reference to the book Proverbs?

And yeah, I understand. Self-discipline is good. I wasn't just procrastinating (up until last night). I really did have things that were more important to me to take care of. School doesn't come first in my book. If there are friends who need help in personal areas, I take care of that first. And there was certainly a lot that I had to take care of leading up to this paper.

Granted, I could have made better use of my time in some instances. But on the whole I wasn't just leaving it to the last minute for fun.

Man, I am horrible with procrastination.
Sometimes, I just don't do the work at all. >.<
Of course, right now, not much matters to me, anyway, so it's even worse than normal.

Yeah I remember times at high school where I procrastinated till the point of:"ok it's too late now, so why would I even bother doing it" and end up getting a 1(that's an F in American terms, we go from 1 to 10, where 1 is bad and 10 is good) or talking my way out of it. But then I'd procrastinate the next time so it was kind of useless.

Over here you have to make some sort of really big paper in your senior year in one of your exam classes.
It's pretty big, since you can't do the Final Exams when you haven't finished that paper.

I turned it in 2 weeks after it was due. Thank God I had a really cool teacher who wrote a 'completed' on the list for me before I turned it in. I only had to promise I'd do it. I still thank her every time I see her :p.

That's like my school in a way. Every senior has to do a senior project. It is a graduation requirement. You are required to write a 5-7 page research paper, and you have to create a product. You also have to get a mentor for your project who helps you learn what you need to create that product. I wouldn't really mind it too much if we didn't have to have a mentor. For mine I am doing video game programming. You also have to present your project and I believe you have to speak for 8-10 minutes in front of judges, and possibly your whole class. I really don't care for the whole thing.

I usually procrastinate to the point where I only have a few days to get it done. I never procrastinate until past the due date/ never bother turning it in for big stuff. When I have plenty of time to work on something I can't focus or get anything done, but when I only have one or two days to get something done I can focus completely. I think it is because it generally doesn't take me long to get these projects done. My senior project on the other hand, won't be completed in this way. Hell, they basically make it impossible for you to procrastinate on it. You have a timeline you should generally follow with a bunch of due dates. We already wrote our rough draft for the research paper and the final will be completed soon. After that it's working on the product. You have to spend at least 15 hours with your mentor over the course of the year and you have to have at least 10 by a certain time, so they really make sure you get these things done so you can graduate. My main problem will be presenting my project for 8 minutes.

We have one that is similar to Overload's, without the mentor part.
Instead, we have to write a 10 page (or so) paper, and do the presentation speech. We also have to do portfolios and reflection papers commenting on our progress.

We do a sophomore and junior project as well, to get ready for it or something, which makes taking English almost entirely pointless.

I'm a junior, and the project was due about a week ago. >.>
I did about half of it before it was due, but didn't finish it then because my stepmum kicked me off the computer, since I was grounded, and obviously doing schoolwork on the computer is 'rewarding me' too much.

I procrastinated to do a 15-page paper that was due last Thursday... and I finished it. But I didn't sleep that night.

This will be my sleep week :)

I really should be studying for finals. Two classes left and I'm surfing the net for no real reason.

Since I'm in applied classes (yeah, I know) no one ever finishes anything on the due date. In english, we were supposed to write a play that was due on Thursday. Since 2 out of 23 people in my class handed it in, our teacher gave us until Monday (today) to finish it. >_>

So then, the way to succeed is to come to a collaborative effort in which everyone procrastinates? That's some sort of awesome logic, I'd say.

I have this planner thing that was issued by the school, and I write all the stuff I think that I should do in it. I am soooo ambitious when I am writing it down, it makes me laugh. I say stuff like "Study Math: 6-4 through 6-5" Planning to re-learn what I know in reverse for the exam or something.

Then I get home, read the stuff, and laugh. Just look at it, or sleep or something.

I do this with projects too, lay out a timeline and then just do 90% of it the last day.

I'm currently procrastinating writing a paper about how House, M.D. follows the conventions of detective fiction, and how it deviates. My title?

Well, I'm currently procrastinating on studying for finals, but I'm in no rush. I've got two open-book finals and one based on 10 quizzes that I've aced. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is a final paper that's actually going to be kinda interesting to type, but still, papers and I don't get along real well. I can expect to be starting on it this next weekend or something. And it's due next Tuesday.
