Well, it seems quite obvious. SB roster is mainly filled with male characters, so it seems correct to add some females that could bring something new such as Palutena, that girl from Fire Emblem (I don't rememberthe name) Krystal, Dixie Kong, Rosalina, Tetra, Impa, Captain Syrup, Lip, and some other more. I mean... Why should I be mad at it? These are some awesome characters!

Take a look at street fighter, all the characters have an exquisite and awesome design, and we almost have the same amount of Guys and Girls. I mean, Chun Li is a female, and she is one of the best fighters. See my point?

your saying we should add more female characters because they are female this I disagree with 100%
a character should not get into smash based on gender this is a game for the greatest nintendo characters in nintendo history (and some 3rd parties) gender should have nothing to do with the selection process

Street fighter is different from smash SF isn't a crossover game it is all original characters they aren't restricted by any rules on what characters should be playable

why do you guys keep using this argument its a bad argument if you want to explain why krystal should be playable then use a different one there are actually some points that make sense and this is coming from some one who hates krystal

I have an opinion too. It just so happens to be the correct opinion.

...
Now what is wrong with that sentence?

Opinions can be more informed and backed up with facts but none are correct.

The facts are Krystal is a character owned by Nintendo, is part of a series established in Smash Bros and has some chance of getting in.

I mean, I don't really see why it should matter what gender they are, there are awesome characters in all walks of gaming... male, female, animal, human, etc.

I understand where you're coming from, I want Palutena my self... but at the same time, it's not like there's a balls to **** ratio in Smash that needs to be regulated and maintained lol. That kind of thing really only comes down to personal preference

Take a look at street fighter, all the characters have an exquisite and awesome design, and we almost have the same amount of Guys and Girls. I mean, Chun Li is a female, and she is one of the best fighters. See my point?
Chun LI being one of the best fighters isn't just because of her gender, it's because the developers took time in giving her a great and unique design that still holds up even today

And as pointed out, the SF devs have the freedom of creating new characters and designs as it's an original IP, Sakurai and company on the other hand don't have that luxury as Smash is a crossover game to the fullest

And who are you to say that a Franchise in particular don't DESERVE something? Pathetic. I want to see newcomers for every franchise, and you should want that too, I mean, every gamer will love that.
I agree here, "deserving" is and has always been a weak argument

I don't know about wanting a new character for every franchise though; there's a lot of series in Smash

I think as long as we have a solid selection of new characters to choose from altogether, it'll be all good

As I said before only blame Nintendo for the poor handling of the star fox games, they are the one who won't actually take the time to work on one and only push it off on 3rd parties. Assault is terrible as well as command and even though adventures is a pretty good game it's not star fox. Nintendo needs to get off its ass and make us another great star fox game.

What I ment to let you know, is that in the overall roster. The ones who more characters have are the games with the best selling numbers (Metroid aside, it's difficuld to add more due the fact that Samus is pretty much the "only" character") But stil quite unaccurate. DK have more sellings than SF but stil, SF have one more character than the DK Franchise, and have the same amount as Kirby.
Yeah, that's why it can't really be said that the amount of characters you have in Smash is directly relatable to the overall success and popularity of the franchise. But yeah, for the most part... and with obvious exceptions and omissions... larger series do tend to get more characters. Still though, SF is comparatively on the lower end of the series in Smash, especially the series with multiple characters.

And if they do what you said to wolf and falco, I'd be more than pleased, that is more than needed. Midna (Or wolf Link) it's still a possibility. When Brawl was announced we had Twilight Princess, but stil we got Toon Link from the previous game Wind Waker. If they announce a new TLoZ in the next 12 months, definetely, she won't be included.
We got Toon Link because Sakurai wanted a "child" Link as well and WW was the most current one, not because of some perceived "pattern". We will have had at least four new Zeldas and one remake since TP by the time SSB4 is out, it's time to accept Midna won't be included at this point. If any one-shot character were to get in at this point it'd probably be Ghirahim, and even that isn't looking too likely.

As I said, in my opinion, every franchise needs a newcomer. At least, it would be cool.
I disagree, but obviously you're entitled to your opinion. Personally I think the series with clear omissions like Ridley, K. Rool, Mewtwo, Palutena, maybe Dixie should still get characters but at this point most of the main series have their main cast pretty much completed, so I'd like to see the focus primarily on new series, which Sakurai might be doing this time around (still too early to tell, but as we've only got characters from new series so far... it could happen).

Ideally and hypothetically without a roster limit, I'd like to see most existing series expanded as well, I just wouldn't give most of them priority. But to each their own. ;)

Yeah I'd like this. Not as much as I'd like a Starfox with the new team... but I'd like it. At this point I'd be just as happy if Platinum made a SF game. Somebody needs to already! :c

Popularity, a relatively large role in the series, and moveset potential are all that's gotten some other characters in before. I think due to SF not getting a new game in like seven years, the existing abundance of SF characters, and other characters having much better chances she won't be included, but she really does have all she needs if her series was in a bit of a different position.

(and I meant the "new" Fox/Falco/Slippy/Krystal team - with new only being relative to the old team, because it CERTAINLY ISN'T ACTUALLY NEW :glare::rolleyes:)

The funny thing is when you vehemently detract against something as most people tend to do towards Krystal for some large reason. You will not see or find a good reason to change your opinions on that even when it's displayed to you.

but there are characters that were very unpopular and characters that have no move set potential become playable in smash but ya popularity is something to look at I admit its a good reason for her to be in smash (I know i contradicted myself but hey what ever)

the biggest reason I don't want her in smash though is because she has the same body type that all the other Starfox characters have I just want them to mix it up

I didn't say that. I just said that when people form opinions they form them on a strong basis. So it's very hard to sway one from one's said opinion no matter what either side tries.

Because let's face it. Even if Sakurai was to announce Krystal as the next character reveal (doubtful), there'd still quite a large group of people who would not be satisfied with the decision, where as there are people who be ecstatic.

If R.O.B has a moveset... Every character in the world can have a moveset, even Tetris bricks xD

the biggest reason I don't want her in smash though is because she has the same body type that all the other Starfox characters have I just want them to mix it up
That could be easily fixed by designing her with a different pose (Clearly, wolf's pose is different than fox's and Falco's) a different playstyle, and even a different heigh. Krystal was taller than fox in Adventures I believe :/

thought you were talking about me for some reason

I mean their body type the way their arms, legs and torso are shaped all the same
also we would have 2 foxes a bird and a wolf which would be way more boring than a frog, wolf, fox and a bird although I am against having 4 Starfox reps

lastly another reason people don't want Krystal is because we would have 4 Starfox reps :glare:

Yeah, there have been characters without existing (or with minimal) popularity who have gotten in as well, sure, my point was just that Krystal has just enough as some other characters have had when they were included, so it's not like she has "inferior" qualifications, despite what some people think. At this point though, I believe... mostly due to timing and already existing factors, she won't be included.

the biggest reason I don't want her in smash though is because she has the same body type that all the other Starfox characters have I just want them to mix it up
Similar body type? Link and Marth have similar body types, doesn't mean they'd be anything like each other. Look at Fox and Wolf, they have similar body types but much different stances and everything. Just by the fact that Krystal has a female body type would already differentiate her from Fox, Falco, and Wolf's.

thought you meant have all new characters I misread you I guess
I suppose that could also be a scenario... with like Marcus McCloud and his team or something... but personally I'd prefer Fox.

What's wrong with 4 SF reps, it's not like they have less than 4 games or anything, I don't see why not, heck it would complete the series if we have her. Plus, so far we have had a new star fox rep every game, even though people say never follow patterns that don't exist. It still is a possibility.

well you do have a point about the Marth Link so I guess the body shape thing isn't a problem

well we haven't had a starfox game in years so I guess it would be best to use Fox

Starfox is a dead series and isn't a retro game why should they add a 4th character and how does it complete the series there are several other Starfox characters that can be added

if a dead series that isn't retro should get another character it's F-Zero they only have 1 character
you selfish Starfox fans

Well, we had a 3DS Remake some time ago. Isn't that dead actually, and Myamoto himself said that he would love to see SF on the Wii U. These are just words, but stil.

And yeah, I agree, even that F-Zero hasn't had a new game since GX I believe, it would be so nice to see another character from this awesome franchise.

I don't really count remakes as a new game and I would love a link to when he said he wants Starfox on the WiiU

and off topic i'm so tired of the colored text stuff doesn't even work half the time for me

If there is a new star fox game if personally like the team to be fox, falco, Krystal, and a newbie. Have Slippy on the ship with r.o.b. being the mechanic and have general pepper retire and have peppy take his job. I also want to see bill and Kat again as well as star wolf getting a new team member (maybe Kat!)

Why would Kat join Star Wolf? "Willingness to kill any and all members of the Star Fox team" is pretty much in the job description, and she's one of Falco's closest friends.

If you play sf assault you see that the teams are rivals and star wolf doesn't hate anybody they are just mercinaries for hire, they will do jobs that star fox won't.

As much as I hate Slippy, I think he's essential for the SF Team. I would keep the series with the same team just with a new inclusions, such as the forgotten Miyu... :crying:

And Kat won't join Star Wolf.. That's for sure. As we know she has a feeling about Falco in some way.

The two teams very often get into situations that pits them against each other. And not in a pretty way. Wolf has vowed that he will be the one to take down Fox and his team. This would put Kat in a position where she would have to fight Falco and his teammates. And try to kill them.

As for the jobs Star Fox won't do? None of them are morally sound. Star Wolf worked for Andross at one point in time. Y'know, the mad genius who wanted to take over the galaxy? They were helping a disembodied monkey head subjugate an entire solar system.

Simply put, Kat wouldn't do that. She wouldn't join Star Wolf.

Star Wolf has gotten tamer as the team has gotten older, their experience working for andross wasnt a pleasant one. They still will take almost any job though, (while the star fox team will only take certain jobs), and they have a sense of honor in the team, they did kick pigma out and andrew I believe. Kat and falco were together at one point but I wouldnt put it past kat joining the team as wolf in his age has become quite a bit more towards the neutral/good side, where as the star fox and star wolf teams used to hate each other, they are rival teams now. Kat is kind of a lone mercenary doing jobs on her lonesome, star wolf needs a fourth member and im sure she would like the help/profits. The reason Id say slippy would be in the Great Fox is well he kinda is a really **** pilot, he better serves as a guy to upgrade your stuff (presumably in the next game) thats why it would be interesting if they recruited a brand new member straight out of the academy.

Also I hate to burst your bubble about miyu (hence your profile pic) but technically she doesnt exist..

Hoo, this thread saw a burst of activity...

So... who would play a game where you control Bounty Hunter Krystal?

I also wouldn't mind seeing them make a Star Fox game that's similar to the Ratchet and Clank series except with a stronger focus on space combat.

Here are some of the things that id like to see from a new sf game or ideas to play around with and tweak, im open to ideas. (copied straight from my word doc)

What I want from the star fox series

ALL SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED AND ALL NEW IDEAS.

The star fox series is imo nintendo’s franchise with the most interesting characters and story line and it has been quite a while since we have had a real entrance to the series. For Nintendo to bring this back they will have to make it a full experience todays audience will not be satisfied with a small 2 hour run of a game like we used to that’s why I think they should pull no punch when it comes to remaking star fox into a hit franchise.

First off the most important thing is to include the air missions that we all know and love, they will be included as well as the landmaster and submarine. There will always be a flight mission when moving between planets (this would not be required if you are travelling to a planet you have previously been to unless the story permitted it.) flight missions can also happen on the planets depending on the situation of the story, and of course there would be amazing boss battles for the flying segments, the space shooter parts are the core gameplay mechanic of the older games so its very important to get this right.
Also to note I would have the gameplay occur over the lylat system and maybe another system they somehow stumble upon, this would allow you to go to beloved old worlds you remember from 64 and find brand new ones.

Now the ground gameplay is what will be a huge factor in this game, the way I would like to see it implemented is in a mass effect sort of style where you pick 2 team members to come with you on the ground while 1 stays in the air with an airwing or a landmaster, It would just depend on the mission and the rest of your guys would stay in the Great fox. The Gunplay would be serious and very much like mass effect, there would be no real guns only futuristic ones to maintain the futuristic vibe, another important thing is the melee combat.

Besides the Gunplay the melee combat could be very bayonettaish or dmc ish where fox can perform various combos and techniques on an opponent in battle, they could turn this into an in depth combo system (fox could even grab a blocking opponent.) using brand new moves and even use moves from the various smash bros. games. Your squadmates would also have their various battle stats abilities and would help out in different ways on an individual basis including exclusive dialogue to each squadmate in every situation.

There would also be a money system where you can find money in hiddenspots or from defeating enemies or completing missions or various challenges. This money can be used to upgrade everything, you can upgrade all of your combat skills, armor, gunplay skills, arwing skills, landmaster skills, sub skills and even all of your squadmates various skills could be upgraded. Id also like to include an upgrade system for the Great Fox (idk how to implement it yet but I think it’s a good idea). Money could also buy better guns, and various unlockables.

Ground Missions would not only be combat, it would have its downtime where there might be various puzzles in the game or elements of exploration to change up the pace. There would also be great ground bosses as well as the ones you fight in air ships. There would also be plenty of secrets to find for those who look well enough.

I feel the campaign needs to be pretty long (20 hours or more) and it needs to have a really good story, Nintendo needs try to make it the most serious story in their arsenal of great games. I feel there should be a lot of positions changed such as peppy getting general peppers job and there being a new star fox member, various new elements like that. I feel after you beat the star fox campaign you should unlock the star wolf campaign which is an entirely new campaign that is completely its own story where you play as wolf and find out the parts they play in the campaign and when you beat that story you unlock the final campaign that has the true ending.

I think that the campaign should also offer a co op mode where a person with the wii u gamepad can play as a team mate by looking at the pads screen, they could be there during every battle in the air or on the ground. There should also be a standard multiplayer mode where you can fight each other, ai’s in a various number of deathmatch on ground or in the air, that could even include racing to get to your airwing, this needs to be on and offline with several unlockable stages and characters and maybe even colors.

Another Mode that should be in the game besides campaign is a mission mode where you can complete various challenges thrown at you, by completing these you can unlock secrets and unlockables, there will also be leaderboards for all competitive things.

There will also be a “Unlockable” spot on the menu where u can look at all of your unlocked secrets and see how many you have left, the more secrets you unlock the more hints are given to unlock other secrets in this menu, this is the main place to access your unlockables as well.

There will also be a classic training mode for the new member of the star fox team so you can learn all of the controls just like you could in 64.

These are just some of the things I would love to see from a new Star fox game, I would love to hear your guys thoughts on the matter or maybe some cool ideas for it.

A game where you played as Star Wolf or as Falco during his departure from the team in Adventures would be cool. Krystal doesn't really have enough character to carry a game on her own.

Hardly an accurate comparison. Smash is a coming together of famous franchises in nintendo. And it just so happens the majority of main characters of most nintendo series is male. While Street Fighter has characters created for the game. Street Fighter can include as many vagina's as they want.
Who's been talking about the last 7 years? I was talking about 64 :I And who are you to say that a Franchise in particular don't DESERVE something? Pathetic. I want to see newcomers for every franchise, and you should want that too, I mean, every gamer will love that.
And was Krystal in StarFox 64? No! She was in the games that flopped.
This is ridiculous as heck. As much as I don't support your points, I still respect them, man, it's your opinion. But saying that your opinion is the correct one? Jeez this is so selfish.

I've seen other posts that you posted on other threads. In all of them your beeing aggressive and want to put your opinion over the others, that's not good, I mean, it can't be. You should think about it.

With you, I'm done. You don't want s*it, and I want a new SSB fiilled with fun and cool characters. Because THAT'S THE POINT. Having fun. I mean, take a look at my signature. I would discuss something about (for example) something that happened in some storyline, like Mass Effect 3 ending. That's something that can be discussed for sure, and I'd be glad to. But we're talking about characters that we want in the next game and opinons... Anyway..

It's a game afterall, you shouldn't get crazy because some people want to see a character that they want (Krystal) on the next game. If she is in the final roster, I will enjoy the game. If not, I will still f*cking enjoy the game! SSB is a great game! And you should too.
Don't you people want to hear the truth? Its not my fault that people think Geno and a digimon have a chance to be in Smash. If it wasn't for me being blunt, people would have convulsions the moment they hear they aren't in Smash (because they are that deluded). I mean, does anyone remember the amount of Butthurt here just like last time? If they hear logical reasons as to why shes not gonna be in, there isn't going to be any of that.

If Krystal was in, i would be happy for people. Genuinely. But shes not gonna be in. Star Fox is not getting more than 3 reps. Period.

And if you think i'm being aggressive or crazy, then you're mistaken because i don't recall cursing people out.

None of the Starfox games have flopped. They haven't all had the same amount of commercial success, but none have outright sold poorly, not even Command.

I liked the idea that Command presented in that every character had their own unique ship with its own abilities and I think they should try to bring that idea back because that would bring a ton of replay value to the game. I may be in the minority but I think they should try to bring ground missions back too. The idea wasn't bad but it was absolutely killed by the fact that the characters controlled like clumsy remote controller cars. Assault tried to make it half ground and half air too which was also another enormous mistake on their part because, just about every fan would agree, Team Star Fox needs to stay in the air a vast majority of the time.

Yeah the problem was only the fact that the games were made poorly, not the ideas. (also thank god command isnt canon.)

What, you mean you don't want to play as Marcus McCloud in the next game? Which is pretty much the case for any franchise that tries something new and falls flat on its face for it. The problem with Star Fox is that they did this for three games in a row which is almost unheard of for Nintendo franchises. I don't know if that's the result of poor planning or just extremely bad luck because it almost baffles me how three separate developers completely dropped the ball for one franchise. I suppose it doesn't help that the games had such short gaps between them either which didn't leave much time for reflection on the mistakes made in the previous installments.

pretty much this... also I do like the name marcus but his time in the spotlight should be quite a while away, they need to worry about getting the franchise back to its roots while providing new ideas that has genuine love and care put into it.

Again, if Miyamoto was the primary overseer of the project I don't think this would be an issue. Apparently Miyamoto rode Retro like a pony to make sure that the DKCR games were exactly to his specifications down to the sounds effects and even the way DK moved and I really don't understand why he was so hands off with Star Fox. This is the same man that spent almost a decade training new developers to take over the Mario and Zelda franchises and yet Star Fox and F-Zero were largely treated like afterthoughts.

Also, the idea of Marcus wasn't bad but most of the endings of Command were lame but I like to think that was intentional like it was in Chrono Trigger (with its endings like dinosaurs and even frogs taking over the world). Honestly, if the "Kursed" and "F-Zero" endings didn't make you at least smirk, you probably took them too seriously.

I think that may be the core of it. This thing you call truth isn't something that people want to hear. People don't come to support threads to get told that the character they support isn't getting in. They come to enthuse about the possibility and the hope of them getting in. Some people don't mind debate on their general odds, but if everyone wanted to hear that their desired character had zero chance then why would they bother having a thread for them at all?

Do you really think that anything you say will make people not overreact to their characters not making it? If someone's prone to freaking out over something like that, I really doubt they're the type to pay much attention to you, let alone take what you say to heart. They're fueled by emotion, not logic.

Many of the facts and pieces of evidence you've brought up are fine. People's main problem with you is your presentation; not what you say, but how you say it. You're not telling people the truth. You're giving people a prediction. Even if that prediction ends up being right in the long run, that doesn't make it truth; that just makes it a prediction that happened to be correct. Apart from the development team working on the game, everyone else's theories on the roster, no matter how well founded they seem to them or anyone else, are nothing more than that: theories. Including mine. Including yours.

I somewhat doubt the nobility of your intentions if your efforts to prevent people from being butthurt when the game is released simply make other (and possibly more) people butthurt now about the things you have to say.
