Potential Leaked Roster Surfaces

If you think dark pit is more than a palette swap then you obviously don't know how he was created. Clearly your bias is blocking off any logical reasoning because I LOVE THE SERIES SO THEY SHOULD GET MORE REPS THAN SERIES I DON'T CARE BOUT!!! An unnecessary clone won't make the series more popular

I played my first Zelda game because of Toon Link...

I'm going to continue to call shenanigans on this leak until the game is released and I can see the full roster for myself. Even if we do get a PotD or other character reveal that matches one of the newcomers/unconfirmed vets, that doesn't necessarily mean that the entire leak is true.

However, for you believers out there I will say that even if part of the leak is proven false (Dark Pit revealed as a Stage Boss/Duck Hunt revealed as an AT similar to Color TV-Game 15 are my most plausible guesses), that doesn't necessarily mean that ALL the information in this leak is false, although it will officially disprove the leak itself.

For me, although some of the images do seem very well-done (props to whoever made this), there are some inconsistencies that go against the otherwise professional appearance. One example of this is that while the Duck Hunt, Ness, and Dr. Mario renders all look amazing, Wario is missing an entire pupil. No it's not partially hidden behind his nose, it's simply not there at all and you can see this if you zoom in enough. Also, notice how Shulk, Ness, and Dr. Mario all have the same shade of red as their backgrounds, when all the other character have their own color background (even if it's a slight difference in shade). It may not seem like much, but why would they simply slap the same color on 3 different characters (all of whom just happen to be unannounced at this time) when prior to that they took the same to make sure that each of the 37 announced fighters all had their own unique color background?

Although these are, for the most part, minor details, I find it very hard to believe that these things would slip by the design team unnoticed. Just my 2 cents, but at the end of the day I'm calling fake. Thoughts?

They look like different shades of red to me. Shulk's seems more tinted, while Ness's is more vibrant and orange-ish. I dunno, though.

Yoshi is next to peach in melee and brawl on the select screen and is grouped with all Mario characters in brawl including donkey kong diddy and wario even if they have different logos. It makes more sense to put him next to the rest of the veteran Mario characters and not after the new characters. What I find really odd is that Link shouldn't be in the second row. It should go Mario Donkey Kong Link samus and kirby like how it was in brawl. All classic popular franchises right next to each each other

Yea I know but the more I look at it the more convincing it becomes and the less I hate it.And after checking out the dark pit backstory and how he's really an unfinished clone of pit I hate his lazy inclusion a little less. Plus he was in the palutena reveal and the character poster just like game and watch was in pacmans trailer. The only one that irks me now is Dr.mario having his own slot. It really should've been a spot for a dk rep imo

Toon Link didn't make the series more popular though. By the time Brawl came out the series was already good and his inclusion didn't raise any interest in the series for the majority of the people. Marth/Roy and Pit made their series more popular but Ike and Palutena didn't. One reps is enough to raise awareness

This has already been covered multiple times in the previous pages, Toon Link is not grouped with the other clones because his differences are more significant and Sakurai has said that he doesn't consider TL a clone.

If that is the case lucina would be with fire emblem characters because Sakurai has said that she is different from Marth. Its the same thing.
So the question still stands why isn't Toon Link with the clone characters or why is Lucina not with fire emblem charecter

There are enough differences between Link and Toon Link to warrant TL staying with the other Zelda characters. Most notably the differences in their height, which gives the two vastly different hitboxes and hurtboxes. But there's also the fact that some of their specials have different properties, their spin attacks and boomerangs for example. Compare that to Lucina, where the only differences between her and Marth are a negligible height difference, and a different dispersal of power in her sword. I'd wager Pitoo and Dr. Mario only have minor differences as well.

And of course Palutena has a base moveset. Trouble is, we just don't know what it is yet. Although some scans of an issue of CoroCoro gave us some clue (you can go over to the Palutena thread if you want to read up on that).

Palutena's inclusion didn't make thousands of people be introduced to the series. If Shulk is in that would make Xenoblade Chronicles more known, if a second rep from that same series is in then it won't change anything because people already know the game, it might make more people check it out but not enough for it to matter

Well yeah but there are some who will be convinced something is worth checking out once it's been around or gets more reps. Admittedly this is a bad example, but when Ice climbers were around in Brawl for the second time that made me more interested in learning about them than the first time where I was like 'oh ice twins' and then put them out of my mind.

BUT your point is equally if not more valid, it would be better to have more unique characters that are for other franchises. Isaac for the win! (Sorry Shulk, I still support you just less since I never got to play your game.)

The only thing similar in both of those pictures is the missing pupil. Which I already pointed out ages ago.
I can watch videos until I find an image similar to a character and try to adjust it to match it up and call it a fake.

I didn't look at the other 30 pages here. Sorry, I just wanted to say my opinion for those who spend more time on smashboards than I do.

While I do think this leak was done well, I don't believe it. Though I will say my thoughts on the characters anyways.

Duck hunt dog? I think he'd make more sense as either an assist trophy or something in the background.

Dr. Mario? Should be alt costume + alt special moves.

Dark Pit? I haven't played the game, but sure if Dark Pit isn't a clone of Pit (sounds like he's not just the same thing as Pit, similar to Dark Samus and Samus though) I'd be okay with him. Though I'd be surprised to see another playable character from Kid Icarus.

Shulk, I'd be okay with this character. He could be interesting. Seems like he won't be in the next game in his series though.

Bowser Jr. sounds like a fun character. I just hope he uses his own moves because he has plenty of stuff of his own to make him interesting. Would be dissapointing if they added him to the game and he was just a mini-bowser.


The vets coming back sounds obvious. I'm hoping Wolf will return. Squirtle may have a very very small chance, and Ivysaur will either be replaced by bulbasaur/venusaur or just not even come in the game. As much as I love snake in Smash (not so much in the few clips I've seen of metal gear), I don't think he'll come back. I'm worried about Ice Climbers and Lucas. Lucas is much more fun and interesting than Ness to me (not one of my favorites, but he is pretty fun to play). Ice Climbers are starting to be smash tradition imo (Though I still find it bizarre they were added in the first place, and I even played Ice Climbers a lot when I was a kid. No one ever knew about the game except for me.)
