HOORAY I have vids
But I suck in them :p

Yeah, the Final Smash recording didn't go too well. The tourney was ran poorly, and I was so frustrated that I couldn't bring myself to play LInk in brackets. Although I probably would have won my last match if I had.

Okay enough johns. There be Falcon **** in those vids.

But it's okay, they are against Lee Martin, and he ***** me six ways to sunday even when I play good.

and just for your amusment, here is a vid of Lee Martin gimping the **** outta me.

Ok, so I made a lot of ******** ledge choices in all of these matches, but I'm learning more about which choices are the REALLY bad ones. In some parts you'll see me miss a punish or two, and I swear I Zaired or Dsmashed but y'know, controller johns or something like that.

Also, I have a couple questions about how to edgeguard with Link.

What projectiles do I use?
Which aerials?
How? (lol)

I'm posting this in the video thread and in a new thread so I can get critiques.

when edgeguarding use arrows only and if u can use bairs for the stage spike that works well if u can pull it off and if the opponent is stupid enough to get that close. that's all i remember right now. but make sure when using the bair that only the second hit does the spike.

k. should use Nair to gimp bad recoveries?

like maybe Nair Footstool? maybe that would work...

I have probably found the least uses for Bair out of all my aerials I hardly use it.

yea nairs are good but at the right time (i knew i forgot something) it's good to sometimes use dair also but not excessively make sure u do it so that u can sort stay up in the air and not fast fall.

I cant really think of manythings to say Popertop, you did better than I would have if I would have faced Lee. There is no shame in losing to him for Lee is a god. he wins 1st at LA tournies for a reason. Take it from the horrible player who got 3 stocked by him by every character but his sheik game, I got 1 stocked.

yeah Lee is definitely too good.

LIke, I'm trying to set up my projectile game, but he just runs up, powershields EVERYTHING, throws me off and gimps me, it's horrible.
In one match on Yoshi's Island, he does his first jump and hits me with a Uair, then he WALLJUMPS and hits me with TWO MOAR Uairs, like the most horrible gimp imaginable, and then he just jumps back on the stage like nothing happened. Gross.I might be able to get him once I get better.

I'll tell you how good Lee is Popertop. At the Last Smash here in LA. I was friendlying Lee and I played PT and him Marth(bad match up I know but idc). He is so good, when I failed Ivy's recovery on FD, he spiked me through the stage. He shot hopped and bam! spiked me. didnt even have to jump off the stage. after that match I got 3 stocked by his peach. Idm, its Lee. He is an awsome player and I'm not. But I have gotten better since then. Also next time you come into town you and me gotta have some Link dittos or something and some other friendlies. =D

You got mad potential popertop from what I saw from these vids. I watched a couple of matches and I got dissapointed by your tendency to hesitate and your poor reactions.

It might be because of your lack of experience but Im thinking it was because you let your opponent intimidate you. Yea the guy was good but that is not an excuse for you to let him walk all over you. You need to control the stage and your actions at all times. Keep moving and spacing yourself with zair and projectiles and never ever hesitate or second guess your decisions.

if you're going to approach than commit yourself to it and have a bomb in hand, If you're regrouping than fall back with zair and set yourself up again. You just need to get some spam and defensive patterns down that work best for you and you'll find yourself doing much better and feeling a lot less overwhelmed.

****, sorry.

The user name is Badnewsbear06.
I just checked it on a computer at my school, and they work from his page, so I dunno what's wrong with that link.

And these videos were recorded from a fest at my friends about two weeks after I decided to pick up Link as a secondary. I don't own a wii myself, so I can't really practice techniques that much, and we played maybe twice before this fest.

Thanks Legan, I'll keep that in mind.
It's just that Lee is waay to good and makes me look like poopy.

I MM'ed him at FS5 and I got him to one stock, and then I made a poor counterpick choice and he 3 stocked me.
I also stopped jabbing at all, so that cost me a little.

What stage is good for Link v Falcon?

That Wario/Meta fight was hilarious. You lost 3 lives within like 30 seconds. You're second and third lives were like 10 seconds each! lol

Yeah I know right?
Lee is just ****ing way too good.

I was like, "Imma Up-B nao."
He was like, "Nu-uh *****!!1" *Dair*

I think that was the one match that he didn't sandbag at all.

He's really freaking good at edgeguarding, even with bad chars.

Like, in one of these matches, on Yoshi's Story, he jumps out, Uairs, Walljumps, and Uairs two moar times. I wanted to quit brawl after that.

Not bad, man. I noticed you had a lotta trouble of ur match against Lee's marth (ESPECIALLY at the beginning). The best, practically flawless way (for me, at least) to recover with Link when he's on the ledge is to do this, in order, quickly:

1.) Tilt your control stick away from the ledge, letting go of it
2.) Smash the contron stick in the other direction, towards the stage, hold it and jump.
3.) Do an airdodge.

Considering Link falls SO FRIGGIN FAST, you will land on the stage before your airdodge ends, and you'll have no lag upon landing :bee:. Then you do whatever, like retalliate with a d-or f-smash or roll towards the center of the stage immediately afterwards, ensuring your safety from getting getting juggled off the stage some more and/or getting gimped. It's DEFINITELY worth it once you get good at it. Oh, and ALWAYS airdodge if you're the one recovering and he's all up in yo grill, never try to hit him with a close-up attack if you're recovering (aside from your upb, which can catch them off-guard pretty easily :p).

Also, you may probably know most (if not all) of the following, but, especially against characters like Marth, NEVER be the one to approach him and do an attack, unless he's open, or you feel he will be open wherever you'll be attacking. A smart thing to do, if he sticks to you like superglue, is to jump away and either chunk your rang in his face or pull out a bomb. Oh, and don't risk grabbing, unless it's a shield grab against either an aerial approach before he hits the ground or a smash attack. And yes, zair is amazing, but don't use it up-close (use smexykicks instead), and if he predicts it and rolls around you...:urg:

Well, other than that, you're off to a great start! You certainly know a lot of Link's tricks already. Just play more defensively and don't hesitate and you'll have some breathing room, making your life (and the match) a whole lot easier! Hope to ditto with you at HOBO 14!

melee or brawl, dingding? cause my melee link far surpasses my brawl link, but i'd say my brawl link is formidable.
