Look's fine to me, they are all within the same kind of "dusky green~brown" theme. Maybe your "ray" could benefit from an area with a slightly brighter highlight.

Really the only place that looks a little "off" is where the branch begins. Maybe it is just me but it doesn't seem dark enough or light enough? It's like stuck in this weird inbetween? O_o?
Yeah, I think you're right... the branch looks kinda light O_o I guess I'll just add more contrast to dark/light places. Thanks!

and AHA! I knew typing the color code would be useful somehow.

global, that pic immediately made me think of this video http://vimeo.com/23191940
so to say the least, it made me feel "good".

must be the nest that caused the mental link.

as for suggestions, maybe add nests in the bg? or maybe the video will give you inspiration.
Or, just ignore me.

oh yeah, and nice pokemon.

I like the effect the light ray has. Definitely put more in there, especially on pidgeot, just to make sure the branch doesn't accidentally become the focal point lol

global, your Pidgeot's awesome so far

Unless the sunlight is really concentrated for some reason, yeah maybe more of it should affect Pidgeot/the branch, more light will probably get rid of that "bland" look you were worried about. Maybe hunt down/snap some photos of forest scenes for reference, to get a feel for what the background should look like. Glad this project is still going though. If you're worried about colors, there are a few good resources in the Tutorial sticky and tons of books on color theory. The rest is experimentation though, so slap on some crazy colors and see what works.

More junk. Felt like working on an old piece this afternoon.

Thanks Neous :D I'm thinking of adding something in the background, like maybe some darker leaves or something. Also that video has a really nice atmosphere.

Hmm... so more contrast overall? More light on Pidgeot definitely sounds like a good idea, Thank you Neon and Bren!

Should've already gotten one Meno, Anjila has hers. I just assumed you had special icons turned off or something. Might want to to shoot Virgilijus a PM.

Lol neous, did you do that? Chalk is legit. They should make giant sketchbooks with blackboards for pages.

@DarkShadow: Acrylic paints actually :o And the black outlines were mostly done in Prismacolor marker. I'm probably gonna retouch with paint when i finish, but for now, I'm using markers as the base lines.

Bye Neous! Can't wait to see your art when you come back :o

Hahaha nice. I love doing this too except my realism sucks a million times worse. XD It's nice to have a live model even if they don't know it. Of course they do end up moving and changing the pose completely haha. Showing them after yields funny results too haha. "Is that the back of my head?" "[Me] Yes. Yes it is."

lol that's the best part - drawing them in a way that doesn't exist in real life.
I love taking multiple shots of people and making a final unique angle. I drew a guy on the skytrain once clad in armor riding on top of a demon bear and he laughed pretty hard when he saw it

It's really hard the first few times, but it really helps exercise the three dimensional visualization part of your brain. A lot of the portrait sketches you guys have seen from me aren't from photos.

Wherever you want me to be... If you're female.
no probs bren, also I mean this in the most least homosexual way possible, but from your self portrait you seem to be quite a handsome fellow.

I'm digging the title of the thread hahaha. but it's probably because I like photographing food.. and eating apples... and since I have a lot of apples for food... I photograph them often.
