....first episode and Ash's Pikachu loses to a guy who JUST got his Smugleaf from Araragi.

Sometimes I think you're awesome, man. You conquer Darkrai AND Latios, in an epic uphill battle even as you still lose, head held high and all. Suddenly you're in a new region with your powerful Pikachu and a LVL 5 Smugleaf puts Pikachu in critical condition?

....unless it has to do with Zekrom or something during the episode. But STILL. wtf

Okay so Pikachu lost his ability to use electric attacks. ... NO EXCUSE. Quick Attack? Iron Tail? LVL. 5 SMUGLEAF!?

Apparently every time Pikachu used an Electric-type attack, it would get drained of energy or something. Maybe that's why.

They got rid of Wobbuffet.

He always annoyed me though, why did they never use him to battle when he clearly could've caused so much damage to Ash's team.

Actually, they used him several times, IIRC he even knocked out a few pokemon, but most of the time his reflective attacks either deflected into Team Rocket or somehow failed.

I blame Team Rocket for not training him properly. You can't expect a pokemon to fight it's own battles, geez.

Did he go with that one Kirlia or something (I don't remember anything from Hoenn on).

I don't know but according to bulbapedia he's off now. All of their Pokes are off so they only have 1 now, barring Meowth who doesn't count.

But he'd have to catch Hootepao (or w/e) to really mirror Kanto.

It's pretty much confirmed he gets a Mamepato (pigeon), they show Pikachu KO'ing one in one of the commercials.

I'm suprised Ash has 4 pokemon within only the first 4 episodes. I guess they really are going to move the show along more quickly.
