The reason he didn't was addessed in a Hoenn episode where he told Growlithe he did not want it to go through the pain of blastoffs every day. (As it was his childhood friend and he couldn't bear the thought of it in pain)
But imagine if it evolved into an Arcanine.

I think that THEN it would kick the twerp's *** everyday

You say that now, but consider the fact that ALL Pokemon that go under Team Rocket's care from the wild inevitably suffer major fail-syndrome.

Just look at Seviper - before it was caught it actually put up quite a fight and outwitted them a few times. Then Jessie caught it.

And Growlie's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, if you get what I mean.

Seviper and Carnivine may be in TR's possession, and so lose a lot to the gang.

But on the same note, those two took out a couple of Elite Four Aaron's Pokemon, iirc.

They do have a good amount of experience, it's just they fall into TR Syndrome more often that not. Darn shame.

Various issues with Anime Openings

Over the years I have become increasingly disgruntled by the fact that the openings of most of the seasons are absolutely non-canon; no legendaries aside from the occasional movie, and the various shrouded figures (such as the one jetting out of an alley-esque hallway in Advanced Battle) and locations (Roman Colosseum-esque stadium in Master Quest) present throughout the various openings never make an appearance --they are merely present to create a false sense of mystique and anticipation... Would anybody else agree with me, or am I missing something?

The "shrouded figure" is Mewtwo post-Mewtwo Returns, when he decides to become a wandering lone wolf.

As for the openings, the show is an advertisement full-stop, so if stocking the OPs with legends is convincing folks to watch it, it's doing it's job.

Gold kind of pissed me off in the beginning of the Gold / Silver arc, but he's really growing on me.

OneManga sucks. Mangatraders has like four times as much content.

so what happened to Ash's original voice again?
Game Freak got tired of 4Kids' stupid censorships (censoring rice balls, Hitler references, replacing matches with candles or deleting scenes with matches altogether, banning the Dratiini the episode (the one where Ash catches Tauros), calling bombs BLASTER BALLS >_>) so PokemonUSA decided to do their own dubbing. The reason why PokemonUSA DIDN'T EVEN ASK the original voice actors if they wanted to come is still a mystery though, as many of the VAs wanted to stay even after the switch.

Something about 4Kids dumping him in favor of a more annoying voice, just like all the other old voice actors.
Sorry, but that isn't even close, 4Kids stopped dubbing at the end of Season 8, which is why the voices changed in Season 9 (see above). It had nothing to do with 4Kids trying to be more annoying than they already are (which would be pretty freakin' difficult at this point, 4Kids has become a laughing stock in the Dub-editing Industry for their bizzare changes made to "their" shows that are over the top and unnecessary).

Wait, Game Freak was personally involved in this? I always thought the removal of 4Kids was due to an expiry of contract or something similar.

Ah well, more's the insult to them then! :)
Well kind of both, the contract expired and PokemonUSA chose not to renew it and ran it themselves from then on.

Wait so Gamefreak got involved? and why on earth would they censor riceballs for?

and also if the person who does Ash voice now did Ash's voice in the beginning and got replaced by the person who orginally did Ash's voice. then you guys wouldn't be complaining about Ash's new voice NUFF SAID

Exactly... We were all saying that we liked his old voice better, so I don't quite feel the burn from whatever it was you were trying to get at.

I was trying to say that if Sarah Natochenny voiced ash from the beginning then nobody would criticize Ash's voice but if Veronica Taylor did her voice at the start of season 9 then people would start criticizing her. i am sorry if i am confusing you but it is basically a reverse. :dizzy:

I don't think anyone would criticize Veronica Taylor (if that's who the original voice was) because we genuinely like the voice better. It's not that we're anti-change, we just like Ash's original voice because it was less chipmunk like.

I was just watching a season 13 episode a while ago and one of the quotes became a new favorite of mine: "Good? This is unbelievably good! Unbegood for short!" *five seconds later* "Yes, but this is DELICIOUS! Unbelicious for short!"

Guys, why does Sapphire have fangs? It's really bugging me.
She's supposed to be a tomboyish "wild child", so to make her more wild they gave her canines, yep, total sense, we all know kids that are rambunctious grow huge canines.

You know what I've been thinking.

I think that a large reason why people like the anime less now is because of Ash himself. I mean, back in the glory days, Ash was a bonehead. I mean, we could all laugh at Ash's immaturity but now Ash isn't funny anymore as he's matured more...

That, and they made Ash's voice annoying >_<

Ash really hasn't brightened up that much, he has more common sense, but he still falls hook-line-and-sinker for team Rocket's plans.

How do I view the manga on mangatraders? do I have to like sign up or something?
Which Pokemon manga? If it's Pokemon Adventures/Pokemon Special, try Manga Reader, it's free with no required sign ups.

D/P arc just got good after Lady Berlitz discovered the truth about Dia and Pearl. Before that, it was alright.
I felt the same about R/S arc. It was only alright until I read about the Salamence incident. That was really touching.

I've been wondering, serebii says that the female trainer from the manga's RBY series is 16 in FR/LG but 17 in Emerald, yet the two male trainers are 16 in both, I was just curious if the manga in Emerald ever actually says that she's older than them and/or if it mentions that she had a brithday in between FR/LG and Emerald yet the other two did not [yet]. The main reason I ask this is because Yellow is supposed to be 14 in both, yet that person's birthday is earlier in the year. 0_o Not sure if that's a mistake on the serebii site or not.

Oh god complicated question.

Blue is the oldest main character in the manga; she, Red, and Green were all born the same year, but her birthday was first. So, yes, it's possible that she gained a year while the other two didn't; the manga doesn't mention it, IIRC. It's probably just an oversight by the writers.

Easily fake, it's always been a manga, unless you're talking about the really cruddy flash-based fan-made renditions strewn all over Youtube . . . .

URG i heard its ultra hard to find but there is infact a anime for pokemon speical I MUST SEE IT!!!
These dudes on Mangafox where working on one a while ago. If they still are, they've probably done at least one episode, but i stopped reading about it a while back. It easily could've been all talk and no action. I tend to do that a lot, maybe they do too. It was supposed to be all perfect and stuff, but looking at the above post, it could've been really bad if it did come along. I'll go find it.

EDIT: Still digging for the fan thing (it must be dead to not be on the first page, though, they probably jumped ship) but look what i found!

http://forums.mangafox.com/showthread.php?t=187809

I'm not sure HOW legit this is, but if it really was happening, i bet Bulbanews and Seribii would be all over it. Thats a shame.

EDIT: http://forums.mangafox.com/showthread.php?t=124602
This is it, but the thread is restricted. It may have had a website though... dough, i hate digging...

EDIT AGAIN: I finally found it, and i was soooooo bumped. It's only a draft, and it's pretty old, which means that they never did continue after what we see here. First i saw it with only my eyes. The animation was impressive. Then i plugged my stero in. The voice acting was... worse than a dub.

What a letdown.
