READ: OPINION!!!
I just want to say that you could have ateam of lv. 100 Magikarp and still beat the elite four. Just use whatever team wins/is the coolest/you're comfortable with/has your favorite Pokemon if you want to avoid playing competitively. Jusaying.
As for moveset suggestions, I'd go with mainly physical for Luxray and Honchcrow, special for Roserade, and physical/special for Infernape. You have the option of switching out and knowing the opponents next Pokemon and you have access to items (and the opponent), so status moves are really kinda useless in-game.
As for Pokemon suggestions, I'd go with Lucario because Lucario is teh ****. Other than that, Sinnoh's Pokemon selection kinda sucks... until the postgame of course.
Also, assuming you have it, since Gen IV has wi-fi this time around, there's more of a reason to not start over your game after you finish it. With that there's more of an emphasis on strategies then just having a lv. 100 due to its auto-leveling feature. I'm not saying you have to, but learning about EVs, natures, and all that jazz is a good idea if you want to PWN all the playground bullies and have maybe even a chance of winning battles online. (God knows I'll never win...)
FUN FACT: In Platinum's Resort Area, using a Super Rod may catch you a lv. 100 Magikarp.
