Pikmin 3: What I think [Unfinished]

Actually, Pikmin 3 was hinted at at e3.

As for Pikmin 3 ideas:

Maybe there could be an evil captain? He could control Pikmin and be in competition with Olimar in finding treasure/things needed for survival. It could create some epic Pikmin army battles. An evil captain would make 4 captains, allowing 4 player deathmatch. Maybe he could even hold the Pikmin types you were lacking.

New Pikmin types... How about a Pikmin that rotates it's leaf/bud/flower like a helicopter to allow a limited amount of flight? Or medic Pikmin (although this could mean a change of the Pikmin death system)? Bulbmin need a bigger role. AND FOR CHRIST'S SAKE EVERY PIKMIN TYPE NEEDS AN ONION, it made getting whites and purples really tedious to get in Pikmin 2.

This game needs (online) co-op, and I don't mean those special co-op missions from Pikmin 2, I mean the full game. Some online deathmatch would be extremely fun as well.

Best RTS experience ever. That being said, perhaps you would need the ability to build up "Pikmin pods" or houses of a sort for Pikmin to thrive in, and also, the ability to tame a bulborb and other creatures to fight with you.

But also, what if there was a kind of Pikmin that you could ride? And it walks two times as fast as you can run. They are extremely weak though, and one of them counts as two Pimin. And if they put in even faster and more powerful bosses, these Pikmin could be pretty, helpful.

(You need five of these Pikmin in order to carry you) They can only run in certain places, however, and are highly susceptible to fire, lightning, water, or being recruited by bad bugs.
The plus sude is, however, that if you throw one into a flower, two of that color pikmin come out.:)

What do you think, Olimarfan?

Love the ideas, I'm sure most of them would suit the game very well. I especially like the idea of an evil Captain. The franchise needs something like that to be included for the sequel
As for the game now being 'officially official', it was pratically inevitable. If it's only just been declared, though, we may have a long wait ahead of us still...

I've thought better of the riding chance....maybe they could make bulbmin enter corpses and that would actually be their "special power" for example u throw green pikmin in a dead bulborb and u get control over it (u use like 30 pikmin so it consumes a lot of space...and they are stored at a special space station available of landing on earth...

My imagination... They decide to further investigate the planet and they go with a space station...ofc they let only louie and olimar go on the planet... onions and a big space pots are saved inside the space station at night and so are the controlled creatures... whenever u wish u can choose for the creatures at ur disposal to be thrown in the green onion to create more green pikmin (bulbmin)

Also creatured-pikmin cannot enter caves because their host bodies are too fat so u cannot bring any inside.. but u can still take control of creatures inside (this would give u a limited chance as u would have to bring all other kinds and not many greens so at maximum one bulborb) to limit it even further and not overpower this ability they could make it pausible to control only creatures which hold their bodies and not the ones that are destroyed after defeat (not even enemies that keep their heads only)
The creatures can be riden and fight and the hazards they are immune at depend on their hosts (although i think all enemies are immune at all hazards but this could change for the upcoming game)

There are propably many problems with this playstyle and id love to know ur opinions about it...the designers can change it furthermore to become more balanced

PS: They should also increase max number of pikmin on the field as more kinds will be added and there is no longer the problem with Bad CPU, Low Graphics and RAM which affected the previous games

Sure, the Wii itself can cope with mass amounts of Pikmin, but I'm not sure that we can. Carrying around hundreds of Pikmin with you at once may become a little out of hand. However, it'd be nice to see where that strategy would take us.

well i understand wat u mean but if they make new pikmin there is no other way...if there are like 7 of each kind then we will have to carry less than an average of 15 each in a cave that contains all hazzards and thats why i said that...i dont think of giant amounts of pikmin.....only like 120 or 150 not more for the time being...ofc if this continues and more pikmin are introduced with each release this will become unavoidable...or maybe they should start making dungeons with not all the hazzards at once

BTW they ARE SURELY GOING TO MAKE PIKMIN 3 (maybe not with that name though) this franchise was a big success and it was even advertised through other games as well (for example a vid in luigi's mansion)...they did make a second release and that means they were planning to go further with it...then again its brawl...i dont think they would advertise it through their most popular game by making the protagonist a playable character if they did not plan for at least a 3rd installment...and also it was semi-announced by its creators in many occasions (go in pikmin wikia and search for pikmin 3 for a list)

The only problem with this theory though is the scene which reduces the possibilities in many ways...foreign planet with dangerous beasts...and poisonus air for hocotatians...less and less reasons for them to wanna go there and then its the pikmin number we were talking about earlier...they cant create many more kinds not to overload the field (and our minds) with them...

in conclusion although im completely sure they are going for a 3rd release im 80% sure that they are not going for a 4th one

I think Miyamoto was planning on only bringing one more kind of Pikmin into the species, thus meaning a rise of the maximum amount would be hardly necessary. However, an amount like 120-150 is definitely a suitable amount. I mistook you for meaning litterally hundreds of them in your army at once.

The first Pikmin was great and all, and was rather easy to complete within the limit, but I never managed to have as much fun journeying through each level due to the 30-day limit. I wouldn't paticulary like that at all if it were to be brought back. It'd be a massive drawback for me, personally.

All in all, I don't feel that many new additions are really needed. One or two new Pikmin will be fine, as will more locations, but I feel that not much else will be necessary for the game. Good additions, yes, but in no way necessary.

Ah, I apologize. I figured you were referring to the 30-day limit in the first game.

reading somewhere, like 13.5 mins to 15 mins though they could make a more significant change...for example 20 mins...that would be better

BTW they are propably running out of facial ideas....i dont think mustached pikmin would look good at all.. any ideas for facial features?

I didn't notice the day-time extension, but you may be correct. I had no problem with the day-time for Pikmin 2, especially as time was paused in caves. However, if they do decide to extend it by a couple of more minutes, that's fine by me.

Facial features, eh? Are facial features really that significant? They are many other attributes that can help distinguish each Pikmin. (e.g: their abilities, their colour, their size.)
As for thinking up new possibilities for facial features, I'm afraid I have no suggestions. :urg:

I like the look of these Pikmin ideas, myself. Eyebrows and Mustaches surprisingly fit Pikmin.

I think the spikes on the head of purple pikmin was meant to be hair...but now that ive thought of it eyebrows and mustache are not that bad...i mean if there werent purple pikmin and they had told us that they would make pikmin with hair i wouldnt like it...the way they made it though is good and im positive that they can make the same with eyebrows and mustache... as for tails and two stems...hmmm i think ive seen a 3D image of green pikmin with one stem normally on the head and a second one as a tail...where was it...ah yeah here it is http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/fantendo/images/thumb/e/eb/Green_Pikmin.jpg/180px-Green_Pikmin.jpg

I dont think so...they mostly look like hair...they are right besides the stem....they arent eyelashes... wat do u guys think?

[*]Aqua Pikmin - are the plumpest of Pikmin, rounder than even their Purple cousins. They can be obtained when five Pikmin are thrown into a Bloated Candypop Bud. They are useful mainly only in desert and very dry areas due to their ability to store enough water to keep 10 other Pikmin alive in the sweltering heat. They cannot be thrown, and can sustain more damage than any other Pikmin.
I've read again from the begining and i noticed something about this id love to ask about...would red pikmin need water? i dont think so cause if they can stay in the fire the heat of the desert wouldnt really harm them....wat do u think?

Well, that'd certainly be different. The Pikmin can say famous action-movie quotes in squeaky voices whenever they're thrown:
'I'll be back!'
'Asta-la-vista!'
And Olimar can shout 'Say hello to my little friend!' whilst firing Pikmin from his rocket launcher.

Um... sorry, what? You don't have to have any rank/number of posts to put a sig picture into your signature, so long as it corresponds with the size rules. The width and height of the picture can be no bigger than that of the width/height in my own sig, just like most other forums.

A side-scroller would definitely spoil the series. It may be an idea for a spin-off or a DS title, though.

You mean like the bad-guy Captain idea that someone suggested...? As for the alien idea, I suppose the 'aliens' would probably be refering to humans, seeing as that the game is based on Earth. Either that, or you mean a completely new species as a whole, just like the Pikmin species. O_o

Humans are propaly extinct and these enemies are all bugs evolved into more animal-like due to no real animals being around...this mass extinction was propably caused by something like an asteroid but if thats the case humans wouldnt survive therefore not evolve and also all the treasure is in considerably good condition and it means that not much time has passed....therefore i believe that even if there was anything left from humans they wouldnt manage to evolve so much into such a smaller size cause such a change would need much more time than the bugs to become beasts...

As for the evil captain uve been talking about i guess they could make a few of them and make a DS game much like the did for Metroid Prime: Hunters... the main point of the game wouldnt change from pikmin2 (collecting treasure) but it would also contain the competitive style of metroid prime hunters therefore it would fit perfectly for the DS.... However for pikmin 3 they HAVE TO make a different gameplay and add many new features because this franchise propably gave them a lot of money and it deserves to be at its best

We are repeating the words "pikmin" "pikmin1 or original game" "pikmin2" "pikminDS" and "pikmin3" a lot so y dont we use some short forms?

pikmin (reffering to the creatures) = piin
pikmin (original game) = piin1
pikmin2 = piin2
pikminDS= piinDS
pikmin3 = piin3

Any other ideas? i just woke up and i cant come up with anything right now :p
Well i posted this in the morning...unfortunately i was out all day and now that ive seen it its midnight over here and i am gonna sleep...so i might come up with something later tomorrow xD

oh YEAH tomorrow i am receiving back my wii (it has been sent for repairs), well actually it was in good condition...prob was with SSBB unable to read errors and i guessed it would need some proffesional cleaning and propably an overall service...AND ITS GONNA COST ME (i live in europe... around a month after the release), unfortunately i live in cyprus (EXACTLY u dont know where that is nor does nintendo) so their free shipping & repair offer does not reach me so i had to get a shop here fix it with charge...

the rocket launcher idea is good...it could double the range u can shoot piin....maybe they can make u able to choose if u wanna use it....without it u throw piin at normal range speed and with it u throw them double range but half speed

I deffinately loved your ideas for stages, if anything. Human interaction?
Houses, crossing the road, it's all brilliant.

If there's like, any suggestions I have (not critcism, suggestions), it's my idea for a pikmin.

They have red, yellow, blue. white, black, and those special ones you talked about.
Let's throw some orange in, because bright colors would probably work best.

Orange's "statistics"= average weight, average throw, good attacks, dies easily
Orange's "special" = they can withstand strong winds. So if it's a gusty day, Olimar uses these guys to scout with im so that his pikmin aren't blown away.

Olimar being run over by a car or stepped on?! I can't bear to think of it.

I'd like to see another sub-captain kinnda thing, and of course Co-op. If Olimar is pre-hype for an upcoming Pikmin game then they must be making and entire freakin' Kirby game based completely around MetaKnight otherwise there would be no reason for him to have virtually no counters.

I'd like to see some kind of human interaction, and believe it or not I'm not too big on introducing new Pikmin Colors because...

Every color people have suggested so far sounds ridiculous, and no offense to anybody thats suggested new colors but I've seen suggestions for Silver, Orange, Light Green, Darker Green and basically every color in existance mixed with the existing Pikmin colors i.e. Yellow-Green, Pink and many more.
