i forgot how it feels like to not come 1st in a tourney

oh well
I remember how it felt. Getting 5th at SFU Tri-Smash 3. It was hillarious. Everyone was laughing (well... except for you). Even East Coast was laughing :D

I'ma need to have housing plans by next week, so if any can house me, speak up.
All Islanders need housing, and preferably the sooner someone can confirm, the better. I need to find out what days/times I need to book off, and what ferry we are to take etc. I'd rather have the planning stage taken care of sooner than later.

We have 3-10 Islanders coming (all of the island, so Grape and Grim are included).

it's hard to prepare housing plans when the number of islanders coming is so vague

Yes... but at least some can have confirmed housing, and others can get whatever's left.

Basically, I want to make sure those who are confirmed are guaranteed housing.

But yeah... I have no idea what the numbers will end up being...

Edit: Yay, I'm a DGames MVP :) (my dice icon)

So we have 4 people for the random *** Snake battle on the custom stage? :3

Let's do it before the actual tourney starts..It would be great if some people could make the custom stage ready..lol.

That'd be cool! Knowing me, if Jon is still doing stuff, I'd probably get housed by him again, chilling with a lot of the Odo Faction. Unless the rest of the guys hang out at your place too. Anywhere I go is totally fine by me! So long as we're all having some good time on the island together.

I miss everybody.

[EDIT]

Well, Jon's place if his family is away in Japan or elsewhere. That's what it was like last time. lol

Didn't he say he was half way through this thread?

So what's the attendance for this actually looking like? It seems like it's more than what the OP is showing.

****, 40 would be such a nice turn out, I'd be pretty hyped. Me going to this tournament is my bday present, so everything is gonna be paid for by my parents, so any money won I keep =D. Being only a couple over 32 entrants is gonna be weird for the bracket. Think you;ll do pool cut offs if that happens?

I doubt dead's coming, he lives out in Langley or Abbotsford or something, so he came to the Abbotsford tourneys because he could actually make it to them

We've never done pool cut-offs here before, but we've never surpassed 32 entrants, either. I'd be hesitant to do it because it discourages newer players, but we might do it due to time constraints. I'm thinking that having 8 pools will work best for this, so it would be a clean cut-off (4 from each pool) if we did. That being said, making/running brackets with a bunch of byes doesn't bother me, so it probably won't happen unless it's necessary.

Fair enough. it just may make seeding a little more difficult, but I don't care that much personally. If you're gonna win a tournament, you should be better than everyone else anyways.

8 pools would be terrible, unless we had a significant amount over 32 people, 'cuz we'd have a bunch of pools of 4 where it would be all "yay all of you guys get through! DEFAULT DEFAULT" and other pools of 5 where it'd be "if you suck you're out"

I didn't even think of that. =s That's another reason I would prefer not to do pool cut-offs. I still think 8 pools would be better for this event, mainly because having only 4 pools with 32-40 people means 8-10 people in a pool, which takes a really long time, even with only 1 match sets. A single ten person pool has to play out 40 sets; even if you divide that between 2 TVs, that's 20 sets per TV. A pool of 5 (which is what it would work out to if we had 8 pools and 40 entrants) only requires 10 sets, which takes half the time even though it only gets 1 TV. The time saved by doing this could potentially allow us to do Bo3 sets. This also makes it a lot easier to seed by region, which will be vital to making a good bracket for this tournament in particular, since we have mainlanders, islanders, and Albertans to separate from each other.

@ HNG: Great. =] Follow that example, people!

I don't think that's what it is. :x

32-35. A good showing from the Islanders could push it to 40. Dayum.

Edit: 31-34. Karupin isn't coming, Bryan.

:005:
i talked to robert and he said that karupin will probably make it to this

I'll be bringing my wii as well, along with a recording device

I am getting pretty excited for this. I kinda like how there are more people who can possibly win this tournament. I mean it's not just between dan and clouderz, because who is to say dan knows how to face a good rob? Or who is to say that I can't beat clouderz and dan can? Same goes for jack. I feel like 4 of us have a really good shot at winning, yet I don't necessarily think that us 4 will completely make up the top 4. Results are gonna be kool.

SIDE BETS ANYONE!?!!
