NO.
NO.
**** THAT THING.

Literally all it does is spam Double Team, paralyze you, then Volt Switch when you finally get to move. Time-wasting ass pos.

All the more reason why people should pay attention to him rather than Pachirisu.

That and just look at that face!
The expression on his face has the look of K Prime all over it. Too adorbs!

I found/watched a battle against zapdos/garchomp/conkeldurr/others vs the pachirisu guy, and it really looks like he just got outplayed really hard more than pachirisu being viable.

Sorry Pachi, I already had plans to cover other recent news. You'll get your shot tomorrow.

Anyway I'd think making Pachirisu viable counts as outplaying your opponent by default. Dude was a surprisingly tanky little **** though, be fair.

Also you can't deny the idea of buddying Gyrados with a lightning rod was a nice touch.

Viability isn't the same as usability.

In doubles the meta is far from developed, Pachi most likely is done now.

I'm not a competitive player by any means so it's possible I'm missing something. However it seems like Pachi made an effective meat shield and paralyzer, and running Super Fang gives him a measure of combat use as well - if he's going to drop in the next turn, why not nom someone on the way out the door?

But since he's by and large a meat shield I think it depends largely on who he's a meat shield for. So here's my questions, and someone more qualified please answer it:

How rampant are mons with a crippling weakness to electricity, and only or nearly only electricity; how likely are they to come up against that weakness; and how likely are they to come up against a team that can drop it and Pachi in one go?

Gyrados and its mega come to mind for the former, and somewhere I think I read Earthquake is a common-ish coverage move, or was, but I'm hard pressed to think of how many teams would anticipate the strategy and have a Quaker and a shock stick out and operating before Mr. Fish got a word in edgewise. And from what I understand he talks loud as hell. Giving him a turn or two to wreak havok may be all the more useful Pachi's gotta be.

Again this is coming from a guy who can't be arsed to breed perfect IVs. But maybe it's just stupid or crazy enough to work more than once. All I'm saying.

The Gyrados was his centerpiece. Pachi had Volt Absorb for safe switching on common Electric threats and built bulky to take abnormal amounts of damage.

The Pachi shined as a crippler (like Rotom), and Volt Absorb/Follow Me keeps Gyrados safe while Dragon Dancing. He didn't Mega until Earthquake was no longer a real threat, and Rock Slide could be dodged by going Mega form. Nuzzle is another rare move, providing a Taunt-proof paralysis. If he loses Gyrados, that set falls apart, but it's really hard to beat Gyrados with great support like that. Ironically, Conkeldur isn't the right MU with a Mega Gyrados, Machamp would've been much better imo, but Conkeldur is much more common with his bulk.

The real reason I think he'll be gone before long is OR/AS will change the meta again in 3 months. Hopefully without the dumb Kalos only clause so I can use Arcy again. q.q

Oh, it also keeps Garchomp safe with Follow Me against his checks. Honestly, a team with Garchomp and Mega Gyrados is hard for me to call off-meta. He outplayed everyone, Pachirisu just happened to have a skill set perfect for his prediction game.

I feel like it's going to be a much more common trio now. Like was mentioned, winning a competition is basically like using Follow Me on scrubs.

Think we'll see enough of him to make Pachi checks come out, or do you think they're already prevalent enough to make that unnecessary?

Tbh, I don't know what checks it has since it's not a true threat. You could just try to ignore it and outplay his prediction game, maybe Rotom could just out-status it. You could also just punish it with good Earthquakes or hit it with something ridiculously strong like another Mega, but you probably shouldn't waste time on a support Pokemon. Trevenant or Amoongus might be tanky enough, Jolteon with HP Ice could ruin the Garchomp, but I'm not sure on the damage values on that.

If you leave the Kalos only clause, Tornadus/Thunderus/Landorus would be super gay for it. Rock Slide Aerodactyl or TTar might be enough to really hurt them too.

Honestly, it's just a support at the end of the day, Taunt might be enough to stop it cold. Super Fang and Nuzzle aren't too scary.

I kind of figured that was the case. Everything I'm seeing is that Pachi is only really there to make threats threatier.

Still, even if the only effect he has is forcing you to go though a particularly tanky rodent first, that's more time for a sweeper who pairs well with it to run unabated over someone's face. Which then leads me, at least, back to the big question of what kind of wrecking that sweeper can do when you give it the equivalent of Super Substitute.

Again all out of my realm of expertise, and you're probably right that it won't run rampant, other than to copycat a champ. But I'll be interested to see if it does make any impact.

If not, well, we got a legend out of it.

Missed my chance to build a team for Summer Jam, but I might try to get into the next major poke-tourney around here. Mostly just for fun. All I ever wanted was to build a viable team around Venusaur, and now the dream is real. Embarrass

Also, happy birthday ~autobus! <33 One of the last oldheads standing.

I thought the weather nerf nailed Venusaur as hard as the Drizzlers, that not the case?

Happy birthday ~auto!

It could let me ride around on it.

Then it'd be perfect.

So I want to ride around on a Venusaur. No shame in that.

So I haven't been on here in a while, and just noticed the project m character icons. I definitely thought the pikachu one was a pikachu in popo's hood for a second and my mouth watered.

Roger, we've dubbed you the **** avatar.

You can bring together the four penile elements in the world.

Leaf expertly explained what those are.

Im late for poke talk but while the meta is really cool and i understand how it works, i secretly just like teams of 3 phys sweepers and 3 sp sweepers lol. Why have strategy when you have a ton of coverage herp.

Also, im sad tat ghirahim is not a character, now i lost a bet and have to commit to learning a stupid hard trick in OoT.

Ghirahim had literally no chance of being playable. You made a fool's bet.

WOAH!! They finally made a post-background thing for Pikachu.

Betting on Girahim or Ridley is fooling yourself. That's just not going to happen.

Now, Pachirisu seriously took everyone off, nobody expected it to be that bulky.
The reads, shifts, and the fact Electric is pretty broken as it only has one weakness only helped the cause.

Now, fantart time
