Bug: I honestly did not care one bit about bug types outside of maybe Heracross, but he didn't warrant a spot. One generation later Shedinja was a kewl gai. Two more and Scolipede but for the wrong reasons so no spot.
Dark: Umbreon, Sharpedo, Spiritomb, or Weavile. Deino happened though so immediate spot.
Dragon: No competition.
Electric: Jolteon I liked back in Gen 1 but Vaporeon was better at the time, especially since Vaporeon could know surf. That and my own rule of one Eeveelution only.
Next on the list is Manectric but I only liked for color scheme and he was a mediocre pokemon either way.
Luxray, Manectric of Gen 4 basically but with a bit more edge.
Eelektross is just a cool and decent design compared to some of the others in Gen 5. Movepool for a pure electric type is ridiculous too.
Fighting: Didn't care about any like Bug, Heracross or Toxicroak. Gen 5 fighting types are the worst btw.
Fire:
HAHA FLAREON HAS NO MOVES.
Moving on, Blaziken was probably gonna take a spot but then I remembered I never ever started with a Fire type on my first run through so that was crossed out.
Numel/Camerupt was cool designs again, camels having volcanoes on their back? Of course anybody who doesn't have bad taste would love it.
Chandelure I was thinking of putting down but I had more heartfelt memories with my current choice compared to just liking Chandelure for the huge amounts of damage it had without even trying to kill anything and design/typing.
Flying: Crobat I thought of but nah he deserves a better spot. So I put Lugia here since he's pretty cool and I liked him a lot back in Gen 2.
Ghost: Shuppet or Duskull was the (in my own eyes) Fossil choosing in Gen 3. Duskull. Then Dusknoir happened. Awesome.
Grass: I always start with Grass or Water for first playthrough, was thinking of throwing Meganium here but decided not too.
Jumpluff is a silly pokemon that I loved for some reason but still didn't warrant a spot. Maybe I liked jumpluff cause I enjoyed blowing Dandelions.
Snivy the smug snake. Sadly nuu.
Ground: I didn't really use ground types much since every pokemon could learn the one move people cared about, Earthquake.
But then I remembered Gen 2 had a couple Ground types I liked. Gligar and Swinub.
Gen 3 gave me Swampert Flygon Claydol and Camerupt, but didn't like any of em enough compared to the winner of favorite Ground type. Though I will say Flygon was a very close choice, especially being half dragon.
Trivia (I typed trixie for some reason), did you know Groudon isn't half fire for some reason? I didn't, he was another choice if it wasn't for the fact I'm a sucker for bats.
Ice: ArticUNO...... Majestic and love most the art for it, but not fond of it still. Snorunt and Spheal was the fossil treatment for me in R/S/E. I stuck with Glalie cause I liked the look for it and seeing it like a soccerball with two spikes. But then...............
Regice was almost gonna take the spot cause the time consuming and hair pulling puzzles to get the Regis in Gen 3. Regice becoming the first one I captured and most memorable. .........then
Gen 4 happened and Froslass was an option for female Snorunts, that was random but really cool and I fell in love with her (hypothetical)
Vanilluxe and Cryogonal were more contenders just for silly designs and being ice types but Froslass still triumphs.
Normal: Bug and Fighting. Don't care about anything outside of Porygon cause of the 9999 coin buisness, liking design and tri attack move (didn't know dodrio could learn it) and porygon Z being more zany and cool.
Poison: Crobat, only other poison being Haunter. But Poison spot sealed for Crobat since flying occupied by Lugia.
Psychic: Lugia was gonna be here, but then flying would be empty if I didn't put Crobat there. Steel and Psychic are gonna be the same typings so it didn't matter to me which one took the spot.
Rock: Only liked Lunatone. Regirock maybe buuuutt.... I used Registeel and ice only while Regirock gathered dust.
Steel: Look at Psychic, but Forretress and Scizor (I guess bronzong but he could've taken either spot anyways?) only competition and I didn't even use them in Gen 2.
Water: While quick to choose Vaporeon right away, I
really wanted to choose Wailmer/lord, Suicune, Sharpedo, Spheal, Tentacruel, Starmie, Kingdra, Kyogre, Empoleon, Floatzel, Oshawott, Jellicent. List goes on.
Narrowed down to Eeveelution Suicune and Wailord. Vaporeon barely won.
The End.
No wait reasons
Shedinja: While I knew about the pokemon, I had no idea how to get it. There was 3 or 4 nincada's I trained to somehow get it. gave and eventually got it on accident and found myself with a Shedinja. Was mostly surprised by the fact it kept 1 HP for every single level. Also finding out that of course he's an empty shell, but having something in his pokedex entry as edgy as losing ones soul if they looked in the back of it was incredibly interesting to me at least.
Deino: I felt like I could never love a dragon type like I did Dratini. Good thing I was wrong cause Deino happened. Cute little ******, decent typing to boot and no eyes. Audino, I like it.
Dratini: First ever pokemon I came in contact with before touching the games. Got a plushie KFC was giving out almost 2 decades ago. That same plush stuck to me as if attached to my neck for many years until I turned 13. I still have the adorable thing despite being banged up and smaller from all the chlorine and water it's soaked up. (when I say everywhere,
I mean everywhere.)
Ampharos: I needed an electric type cause I'm a freak when it comes to balance in my teams. Ampharos grew on me when I enjoyed Flaffy for so long.
Toxicroak: Frog pokemon I like. (guess who's gonna be my 6th gen started if I get the game) so I caught that at the Safari zone as quickly as possible and enjoyed having him on my team until balance got to my head and I had to trade him out for someone better, (since I had two poison types in my team) don't remember who cause Diamond/DS stolen but switched him out nontheless and still enjoyed using him from time to time.
Typhlosion: On my second playthrough of Silver I think the only reason I loved Typhlosion is cause I stuck with him the longest and the closest (at the time) to completing the pokedex with Granbull and Suicune.
Lugia: First legendary I cared about and soon replaced Noctowl (used for fly) for him.
Duskull: I think I said the reason? Cute simple little design for a ghost with a skull. Dusclops was an interesting pokemon in my team too with decent moves. Dusknoir was even more interesting in gen 4.
Sceptile: I liked Treecko when HOENN CONFIRMED. Along with the design, but saddened at it being pure grass. I really loved the move Leaf Blade for some reason.
Gligar/Gliscor: He's a bat and portrayed at zany in the show. What can I say?
Froslass: Rosario Vampire had a Yuki-Oona and I love ice. Froslass reminded me of her. I wonder how many people think this is a dumb reason to like a pokemon?
Porygon Z: I think I explained it, if not then here's a semi full thingy. Zany looking pokemon, a glitch. and I like him a lot.
Crobat: I like bats, he has 4 wings. I don't mind zubats in caves, I actually hope to run into a shiny one still.
Bronzong: I think while on my hunt for Gible cause why not? Balance in my team, needed a dragon powerhouse/ground type. Found Bronzor, decided to catch, I liked Bronzong, even used him in some competitive teams.
Lunatone: Quite honestly never encountered it and I don't think any other trainers outside of the 7th gym leader had it. Saw it, defeated the gym leaders quickly with Leaf Blade Sceptile and rushed to catch it. (and a bagon cause why not?)
Metagross: Fighting Steven the first time I had to have it. Didn't know how to get it till I randomly found his house in Mossdeep City. Talked to him and expected a lenghty boring story until he randomly gave me a Beldum. That was a funny encounter.
Vaporeon: I always liked Water ice etc. Vaporeon had a design that just clicked inside me and I still like this pokemon today. If only Jolteon and Espeon weren't so popular in the meta.
Things I did for /vp/ and the DR. Choice one was dumb cause Zorua and Braviary I don't care about at all.
Real The End.
